Recently I found something in my corn chips from Coles. It was large, thick and dark brown. I kept thinking, please do not let it be that. I have to return it to Coles and get a refund. Four weeks ago, I found metal in my mouth after eating Asian noodles. I still could not believe that might have been in it. I have not reported the noodles. My Mother said when she met my Grandmother for the first time, she noticed 2 of their plates were chipped. Instead of helping to wash them up she deliberately dropped them, smashing them to pieces. She said now you will have to get new ones! What do you think about eating/drinking from chipped or cracked kitchenware? Do you think it s offensive to serve up your guests on such decor?

It is NOT the quality (chipped or cracked) of the kitchenware that counts, it is the quality of the food being served to you in a personal (or family) setting THAT counts! I appreciate the time it took to serve a well-cooked meal - not the appearance of the kitchenware - as long as the kitchenware is clean and safe to eat from - Bon Appetit :-))!

If someone was rude to you in public how would you react? Would you keep the peace, or would you report it, or would you insult them back? I ask this because my brother told me how someone was rude to him at a restaurant he went to last week, and he ignored him. But later regretted that he didn't report it. As he may insult other people just minding their own business. What do you guys think?

Both sons' work in hospitality, both deal(t) with rude and/or aggressive customers daily. Customers vent, they calmly respond. Due to the high activity of violent behaviour from druggies and drunks there is now a sign at my youngest Liam's work. 'Our employee Liam is also security. He is a MMA fighter, are you? Please be respectful to our staff, thank you.' No incidents for three months and counting.

I'm in that age group and I built my home so it would be suitable for living in as I age. Downstairs has wider doors for wheelchair if needed and no steps. Dont need to go upstairs. Hopefully I will be able to get home help. My sister and I cared for our parents up until the end. They brought us up, so we should care for parents. If its not possible then so be it. I have seen friends go into some very caring nursing homes but there are some that I definitely would not go to. I have had discussions regarding that stage of life, death and funeral as well. Communication is so important.

That is hardly fair for nurses, doctors, and other hospital staff or ambulance workers or police or those in the military forces and those who work in our prisons and those who feed us in restaurants or cafes. We are making it hard for small businesses to add to the new taxes imposed upon them. The only people who can WFH are clerical workers and government staff and the government staff take so long to do anything anyway that WFH will make the situation worse. It is a division of society that will make it harder to get staff in all those cases I cited before - and I believe we need them even more than the clerical workers.

We used have curtains hanging over windows...then we got blinds which were very cool and modern...but they collected dust...so we got vertical blinds...but they were ugly...had weird weights on the bottom that fell out and they decomposed in the sunlight and fell to pieces I've just finished reinstalling curtains...what stage are you at?

My father taught me not to lie when I was 6. It wasn't the speech about how "it's always better to tell the truth" that did it. It was the look of disappointment on his face. I find being lied to very hard to take, but being lied about is even worse, because if you can't prove otherwise, human nature being what it is, people will always believe the lie. Do you believe that people should have the right to have a doctor assisted suicide? People that live in incredible pain, people that are so depressed that they want to die. Thoughts?

I spent many years working as a Palliative Care nurse and in Aged Care situations as an RN. Assisted suicide is a normal part of end of life care for some and terminal sedation is a practice that has been practised for many years. I remember an incident in a public hospital I worked in, and we were warned not to discuss it, but it was more than a decade ago. An elderly man had very bad frontal lobe or Dewy Body Dementia. He was being cared for at home because he had been previously admitted to other Nursing homes in and around this area, but due to him flinging his fists around and utterly refusing personal care because he no longer understood what these strangers were doing to him, his physical health was suffering and they wouldn't have him back again. He wasn't getting nutrition, hydration and as he was doubly incontinent he was getting bad excoriation on his privates and the pain from this was causing more negative behaviour. He would refuse tablets and spit them out if the nurse DID manage to get them in his mouth and consequently he wasn't even getting the antipsychotics and calmatives he needed so he could recieve adequate care. So we have a human being who is just a mere shell of who he was, and that was an absolute creep as we remembered him from long ago, who's family could no longer cope, were out of resources and had ZERO other options for care. So the decision was made with his specialists, local GP and family to bring him into the hospital for terminal sedation. We were NOT obliged to care for him and we had the option to refuse to give the medication that would take him away from this earthly plane of existence. From my recollection it took about 72 hours for his heart to stop. He hadn't been the man he was for some time and his family had already grieved that loss some time ago. All there was now was relief and thankfulness that neither would suffer any longer. I'd be interested if anybody has a suggestion as to how THEY might have managed this situation if THEY had been this man's family. I suffer pain all the time and sometimes it's so bad that I wish it was all over. Nobody has the right to tell me that my suffering isn't bad enough to warrant me thinking of a permanent way out. I take painkillers but you become used to them after some time and the efficacy reduces. But people should be able to choose to end their lives on their own terms and we show animals that kindness. Why NOT humans who are suffering?

I like to see what I buy, but packaging often hides the contents, either the quality or the quantity. I often get potatoes that are already sprouting I purchased 2 boxes of breakfast cereal today, and I was surprised at the amount of cereal compared to the size of the boxes which showed 435gr. I weighed the contents and one box contained 365gr of cereal and the other 411gr. Feeling cheated.

My issues (in NZ) are: Why is pork from Poland? And beef from Australia? Am I paying for the air in chippie packets because there seems to be more of that than chippies? When I used to dunk my gingernuts (get your smutty minds out of the gutter) they were wholesome dunks in my cups of tea. Now it's a petite holding of the biscuit. And expect prices to rise...again. Books, hypnosis, cold turkey! I think, for one, you need to be ready. Do you think people are born with "addictive habits?" Why do some of us smoke, drink etc & to others it is irrelevant? I gave no permission for a Car Insurance renewal policy, but to my horror, the very popular Insurance company renewed it anyway using an expired credit card they had on file. They simply changed the expiry date on the credit card. Of course, I cancelled it right away. My question is, should I report this company to the Government watchdog?

We have found a few insurance companies renew policy's without instructions to do so. My concern is that they used an expired credit card and I have no idea how they managed that because not only would the expiry date have changed but another number of 3 digits would have changed also so your bank should have declined it. If it were me my first call would be to my bank to ask why they had approved the transaction, my second call would be to the Ombudsman because it isn't on. All the best.

We know about growing herbs and not wasting food... the single most important piece of equipment you need is a large chest freezer... (even two) THAT is your best friend... you will be surprised at just how much you can freeze... and just how much supermarkets can discount food... they will almost give chicken and pork away... my dog is eating VIP food that costs $8 a kilo, and it costs me $3... my mushrooms usually cost $5 or $6 a kilo rather than $13 you can...

Hi APB, we have a vacuum sealer & frozen food lasts so much longer when sealed this way. We have a great vege garden & we are fisherman, so have lots on hand in the freezer. It is also a good idea to have an infirmary of what is in the freezer. Our frozen food is also dated so we know to use the older food first.

It\u2019s strange this discussion coming up. My mum died last Sunday. I\u2019m not after sympathy, but I know people care. It was a blessing for her as she was very poorly and it was a huge relief to see her suffering end. About nine years ago I answered my mum back for the first time in my life. She would not recognise my first grandchild as family because she was fostered and in her words not mine \u201c she isn\u2019t blood\u201d. This hurt very much, this beautiful little girl was my first grandchild and I love all my grandchildren equally. I kept my distance for a while but got abusive phone calls from my brother and nearly had to take out a restraining order. My mum changed her will, and I had no say over her health as she got older and deteriorated. She was put in a nursing home, which was very comfortable but she kept asking me what had happened to all her belongings. I didn\u2019t know. I visited her and we spoke and I love her. My psychologist said I would never get an apology for the hurt she caused me but I forgave her. Sorry for the ramble but thank you for letting me write.

How do you feel when you go shopping at grocery stores or dept stores, and you are asked to round up a few dollars to support a charity in that area. I find that if I am in the same store multiple times a week, it feels uncomfortable saying no over and over again, especially if I have already donated the first time they asked. I hate having to explain that I have already donated.

There was a time in professional sports when the umpire/referee made a decision, it was accepted as final without question. Errors were made, but were acknowledged as part of the game. Today, almost every decision is referred to an authority away from the playing field. This not only interrupts the play of the game but calls into question the integrity of the field official.

Coming from a very large family, it becomes a big question when Christmas rolls around as to who to invite for Christmas dinner. I usually decide on it based on who gets along with whom. Then I don't hear the end of it when I don't invite certain members. I decided not to put on the Christmas dinner for the past two years; it didn't feel like Christmas without family around on Christmas day. Do you experience any of this? What would you do?

My family is large as well. What we do is meet at the local park, lake or nearby beach. Everyone that wants to come brings a main and a dessert to share at a communal table. The children are catered for by water activities and a playground. Adults mingle with whomever they want. At the end (most of it is paper plates\plastic cups) cleaning up takes seconds. The burden of catering is not left to a single person. And our rule is no presents. Having fun, bringing food, participating in activities...that's the present.

Recently our cat was mauled by a savage dog even though it was on a leash outside our house. Its owners had no control. I have never witnessed such torture and was devastated, `The cat was so injured, it has to be out down. We had no success on insisting that the dog should be put down to prevent other incidents. Next time it might be a child. Surely, there should be more restrictions on such animals, \What do you think?

Yes, I agree, dogs with those killer tendencies towards cats often go onto to attack people, have seen this many times when working with council dog pound. Often they can not be rehabilitated and have to be euthanised, sad for all concerned. More restrictions, visits are needed for dogs such as these and this savage dog that mauled your cat on a lead is a public safety issue. More than often it is the owner at the cause of the problem with encouraging aggression and non socialisation of dog at fault. There are alot of people involved in dog fighting now and these people couldn't be trusted to look after there dogs and need these animals taken off them

I am single and have been all my life. I enjoy it. It's given me time for self growth. Most of my friends got married within 2 years of leaving high school and took any low paying job they could to pay the bills. I became a teacher and travelled all over the country I live in. I play several instruments, write songs and have a band that we preform at local events. I own my own house, 2 investment properties, a government and a private super, shares and a good size chunk of cash in the bank. Being single DOESN'T mean being lonely. I have great friends and have had relationships along the way. The freedom I have to do anything I want whenever I like is amazing. I don't need to ask anyone's permission to do anything I feel like doing at the drop of a hat, and money is never a problem. When I look at my friends and how deeply they are in debt to the almighty credit card I thank God I'm single. And as far as never having children...well I'm a teacher that is surrounded by children and I have 6 nephews that think I'm the greatest uncle ever due to the gifts and adventures we have had in the past. And still having adventures today with their children. Life is good.

Road users with licenses see first hand people flouting rules including those riding e scooters or e bikes. These machines can travel up to speeds in excess of 40km per hour on footpaths and roads. Not in favour of them.

We moved to our small town 14 years ago. We were shocked at how many things in this town are run on volunteers. The CFA (fire brigade), SES (emergency service), They are in most Australian towns, so no surprise there. But the local hall has a volunteer committee who look after it, cleaning renting it out etc. The local show is run by volunteers. We also have 2 CWA branches (Country Women's Association) a Rotary Club, a Masonic Club,...

We are elderly and ill, and need to pay people to work for us. It seems no one wants to work anymore. We pay cash money. I don't know what is so difficult about stacking wood up for someone for winter. Every time the guy says he will show up, he is a no show. I fired him once, then giving him one more chance, we will know tomorrow if he will show up this time.

Following the death of the late Pope Francis and after watching Conclave, I thought to myself what would a woman offer as a Pope? I am not Catholic but do know that they do not ordain women as priests. Maybe in the future this will happen. I got my black belt in TKD, with Palado TaeKwonDo Academy in a small town, it took me 15yrs (as I had two kids during that time so a few breaks), but I kept returning (with my kids who are also Blue belts atm. I paid for it myself. I dealt with the petrol, the time, whilst working, and eventually (as the boys got older); the whinging!! IT WAS ALL WORTH IT AND STILL IS!

I went to Bright,Victoria. A small village town half way up Lake Mountain. The most picturesque little town all year round back then.My ex husband and I were travelling by car ,6 hour drive. I was very pregnant with our first child. 40 degree heat in summer. We had a minor accident with the car in the first 15mins,no apparent damage,so continued. We should have turned back then. The car broke down more times than I can count. Luckily we had insurance that offered roadside assistance. By the time we arrived we had spent 12hours on the road in the heat and had the car towed the last 80kms. All accommodation was already paid for,but left us with very little money and bad sunburn. Still wasn't horrible,it's was truly beautiful. We ate ice-cream,walked around town, waded though the Oven's river( which is melted snow and freezing any time of year). We had some food we brought with us. Funny that everything we planned went wrong,but just being there was refreshing. Young love..we didn't care,had nothing,no money,no car. It didn't matter.

I am finding it increasingly difficult to find who I am on surveys with all the new genders and sexualities and then you have to repeat all of this on the next page because "sex assigned from birth" is one question and "sex you see yourself as". How about just ask if you are male or female or other because if you TRULY believe you are one of these, then why does it matter what sex you were assigned at birth? And, just for simplicity, for sexuality, just have "gay or straight or other" and they can fill in what their "other" is instead of giving all survey takers a laundry list of possibilities to plough through until we find what we identify with? Honestly, it takes longer to read these prequalification lists these days than is reasonable.
Next they will be asking us if we consider ourselves human, alien or a furry and then THIS will have its own laundry list of ridiculous possibilities.
Oh, I forgot about the alien lizard species since just saying "I am alien" may not be good enough for some people. What if I identify as a Klingon or other race from Star Trek? The possibilities for making this question a kilometre long are endless!

Why put all your friends and relatives through the expense of the funeral, and in many cases the high travelling cost? Funerals are for the living, not the dead. The corny line about "paying your respects" is Undertaker-speak for making indecent money from your estate for them. Supermarket paper bags !!\ud83d\ude21 l hate paying 25c for just one of them and then they break by the handles or spilt on the edges ..especially as the staff are usually useless at packing them... A call came in and said a bench warrant had been issued for my husband's arrest and gave the name of an officer at the local police dept. I called them on my phone, they said they had an officer by that name, but he was assigned as a school crossing guard. My husband kept them on the phone and drove to the police dept. I don't care for sports other than the Olympics. I don't follow sports of any kind and do not watch them. I certainly would not pay an outrageous price for tickets to see them live. I suppose I got a bit of a head start on everybody else. Earlier this month I moved interstate back to sunny Victoria( well sometimes it is). I left a d.v relationship with basically my clothes and my youngest son and his things to be with family. So decluttering DONE. Now just focusing on my health mental and physical as well as slowly saving to replace all I left behind. Pretty proud of myself at this point as I thought previously the only way I would get out was in a wooden box. I look forward to a better year than many more previous ones.i know for sure it can't possibly be worse. For the first time in quite I while I love my life. I have a niece that has mental issues which are quite severe to the stage where she has attempted to take her life multiple times but luckily failed however she has also very much mutilated herself at the same time.She is now 21 and still has major relapses of self mutilation.Many of our family have tried to reach out to her over the years including myself and she has even been in respite care institutions.It is really sad because she is a lovely young lady with so much potential to make something of herself but over here in NZ the mental health system has failed her as well as many others and that is only half the problem.Many so called professionals said there is nothing wrong with her and it is all to do with attention seeking but this was recently proven wrong as she has now been diagnosed with border line personality disorder which is one of the most commonly misdiagonsed mental health conditions out there.

My Mum & Grandma were very superstitious & some of those superstitions rubbed off on me! I will not walk under ladders as it is unlucky. Grandma would never have peacock feathers in her house - they were unlucky. If I see a black cat, to me that is a lucky omen. If my mum dropped a utensil, then we were going to get visitors! I have recently heard of something like debt recycling. If you then borrow the same amount and invest it, you're essentially replacing the inefficient debt with a debt that is tax-deductible and could potentially generate wealth. What are your thoughts? How to get out of debt and get rich?

First thing , to become rich is to put some of one's own income away ( save it) also known as the long way.
Second thing , borrowing someone else's money is a quick way of becoming in debt, once you are in debt , in is near impossible to become rich.
Borrowing more money, and investing it, is no guarantee of getting out of the original debt , and becoming rich. It may end up worse off and owing more debt.
Remember this simple philosophy : If one can keep a roof over one's head ( rent/ mortgage), pay one's utilities ( electricity/ gas/ phone/ water etc) ,if one can feed and clothe one's self, then one is rich!

If Putin wanted to he could have walked in & taken Ukraine in a couple of days. he has more Military that Ukraine has population, he has massive amounts of Weapons etc. and is reportedly also being supplied by North Korea and possibly China. Both countries deny this. They, like the USA, UK, Australia, etc., will lie as and when it suitsd the politicians in those countries.
Then have a look at the Israel-Hamas war. The USA is supplying Israel with almost all it's Weapons, Bombers, Drones and Iran is supplying Hamas with drones, rockets and other weaponry.
Down the millenia wars have been deliberately created by Religious leaders and they continue to do so, all, of course claim that God, Jahweh, Allah or whatever other names they call this invisible, mythical deity, is on their side.

In reality, you can retire at any age if you have the financial means to do so. What you are talking about is retirement age to either access superannuation or a government pension. I hate how the age has increased due to what the government perceives as "aging population". The old system of "voluntary retirement at 55" is much better than "work until you die" mentality which prevails today. (Obviously, voluntary retirement at 55 was to access superannuation and NOT welfare and you can no longer do this as the minimum retirement age is 10-20 years higher for most people currently working and this is awful).

Do you think there'll be an end to seniors receiving government pensions by the year 2073 or in 50-yrs? It's been a century's long stable way of living while enabling seniors to enjoy their later years. And do you think it's a good idea to put off retirement until after the age of 70 instead f taking an earlier retirement? Where I live, a senior can be qualified as a person 55+ albeit even though they are still working & haven't yet retired from the work force.

I think that people who have worked all their life should be able to have some retirement life before they become too frail. Retirement age should be 65 yrs and if people want to work longer they can and have tax benefits. Everyone has a different lifestyle and health. Some people already end up unable to work at 65 due to ill health, just look at the aging population that end up in Nursing Homes who are in their early 70s. I believe TV was much better to watch in the olden days, as it used to have heaps of children & family programmes compared to these days. I agree with you completely, TV was better in my childhood. There was no bad language, no sex and no bloody murders. We lived in a blissful world where we were allowed to have a childhood. Right was right and wrong was wrong and there was no grey area, Superman would always save the day. Around the 70's the so called educators graduated from uni and decided for us that children should not grow up thinking everything will work out for the best and that they should not be taught about God but sex instead. Noddy and Big ears were perverts and we can't have a golly wog. Children should know that you die, can be murdered and all sorts of horrible things can happen to you so stranger danger dialled up full speed. No more fairy tales or dreaming of meeting a prince. I couldn't believe a mother told her son that Prince Charming was molesting Snow White. How sad is that. Children are now confronted with the horrible facts of life, and it's cruel in my opinion. They are afraid of climate change, endangered species and being buried alive underneath piles of rubbish. They get political correctness, gender issues and now having to apologise to indigenous people for stealing their land. Is it any wonder young people feel that they have no hope, they need drugs, are depressed and have high rates of suicide. My other special dislikes are those endlessly repeated preliminary questions which are a waste of time such as:
1) If you had a Superpower what would you want to be able to do?

3) What is your favourite meal?
Just what is the point of them?
The other is when you click on a survey and are told that your profile doesn't match but "We have another survey which does" (or words to that effect) so you click on that only to have the same response multiple times. Either our profile matches or it doesn't!
