Discussions of the day
For me, as long as you' and your partner communicate and are happy with what you two have together, it doesn't matter others are or aren't doing. What would you say? Is it normal to not see your partner every day?

It depends on the job he has my husband was in the army and was away a lot but it made no difference to the way we felt and we were very happy to have each other

We recently went to Darwin for a few days. We were paying a lot for the hotel we stayed in. Our bed wasn't made at all, the towels were changed, but the bins weren't emptied. On the second night there, Hubby ate something that hadn't agreed with him and had a bit of an accident. The sheets weren't changed, and I had to ask for sheets and a mattress protector and change the bed myself. The "clean Mattress protector" I got had blood on the underneath of it....

I was raised to always use please and thank you, elders and children are first, always hold the door for the person behind you, is it just me or are people these days are just rude and disrespectful. I am going on 50 YRS old, and I still see young ones on the transit bus just sitting there while elders or pregnant or injured ppl standing up. Bring back those manners, nice words or gestures could make someone's day more pleasant. Thank you.

I am in my 70's and I see how the young people. Not only do they not give up there seats but push in a line to get on bus first. I called one girl out and told her to wait her turn. Entitlement is what the kids think.

AI is all the buzz recently, but, I want to know what all of your thoughts are on its use in health care. In systems where lots of doctors seem to never know the root causes of things, how can A.I. actually be beneficial in this field? I know personally that I will never use A.I. myself for anything because if we do not comply, then it simply cannot be normalized. I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing an A.I. model...either learned FROM humans, or programmed BY...
APB
AI will have access to all current medical knowledge...ALL the time....robots are already doing better surgery in some cases....they won't get old or be arrogant..or think they are God......they will make far less terrible mistakes...and spot things in scans that humans cannot even see....I say bring it on...I don't want some doctor misdiagnosing me....not knowing what is currently available...or some surgeon making a mess of my operation...Humans are going to massively benefit....

My neighbour is always complaining about leaves blowing into his yard. We have had the closest tree limbs lopped as far as the local council will allow. They have issued a full report on the preservation of historic turpentine trees. He turned up again today demanding $1200 for more limbs to be cut off. I referred him to the Council report, but he is adamant that the trees should be cut back. I see no end to this dispute. Have you had problems with your neighbours?

I already have "craptcha" and I should submit it for approval. You all know what it means but if you can't figure it out:

Instead of World Donut Day or Chocolate Day etc, just name a day as World Food Day and have food festivals globally. Also, feed the poor and needy a special feast on that day.

Breaking news! They have found a plant hundreds and hundreds of light years away that MIGHT support life...it is so far away that we can only see it as it was millions of years ago. At that point it was massive, and the gravity there would have crushed us...and at that point it was revolving around a Red Dwarf sun which is the final stages of a sun's life...by now that sun would have exploded outwards destroying all planets in its orbit before becoming a black...
BLM
I don't know and I don't care 'if' there is a possibility life exist on other planets in a vast universe. We (humans) have enough ongoing environmental issues on this planet (over-population, lack of fresh water, climate-change, etc.) - that life might cease to exist on this PLANET - other words spending money on space exploration is a COMPLETE WASTE OF TAXPAYERS' MONEY. Furthermore, if E.T. decides to phone home - MAKE SURE - it is a COLLECT CALL. FYI: I think planet is spelt planet instead of plant (but English is not my first language - LOL)!

Do you think you would be a different person if you became wealthy? Personally I think it would change me a little but not much. Some people remain the same after getting lucky with money and still maintain that humility. How do you think it would change you?
Lachelle B
My father in law passed, followed by my partner a few months later. I inherited my partner's share of his fathers' estate as well as my partner's insurance. Did it change me? Yes, I've become a recluse, I was sick of people asking me for money. I purchased a cheap half an acre in the wop wops (remote) which I'm currently building on myself so future generations can make use of it. My sons' have received a decent sum each, I have helped out family and friends but I stopped helping people out months ago. I have not bought a new car, gone on holiday, or been on a shopping spree with my money.

A happy life is one filled with contentment, positivity, and loved ones. It's a life where problems don't overwhelm you, where you rarely feel lonely, and where failures don't keep you down. You learn to rise again and achieve your goals. A happy life is consistently filled with positive energy. What do you think? How would you describe a happy life?
blunder boy
I think happiness is a lifelong journey, you will always have great moments to look back on but I never knew until I got to this period in my life what it truly means to be happy, to see my grandkids smiling/laughing and discovering new and different things highlights my life every day, being a part of that is truly a gift

Can anybody quote some of Murphy's laws and rules. Such as, Never argument with an idiot as people may not be able to tell who is the idiot. The golden rule, he who has the gold make the rules. And there are many more that I can t think of right now.
Andrew C 287196
The most famous Murphy's Law is (as others have said below): "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong" or similar wording.
But there are quite a few other "Murphy's Laws" as well, although whether or not they were all actually said by Edward A. Murphy Jr. or just other people making up their own, is unknown. There's a long list at https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~fgandon/miscellaneous/murphy/

We just learned today of total lies being told about my husband, who is extremely ill. People having to do with our mail, said he was laying down in front of the mailbox, and they are making fun of him AFTER they took away our medical mail delivery to our home. They did this after the doctors filled out new medical papers saying we should still continue with our medical delivered mail. My husband has had three strokes. It is obvious the mail people here do not...

With Halloween just around the corner, I started thinking about ghosts. Do you believe in ghosts or paranormal activity? There are millions of people that testify to seeing things with their own two eyes that cannot be refuted. Do you have any personal experiences you'd like to share? With so many believers, how could ghosts and ghostly experiences not be real? Ghost hunting and paranormal investigating is a huge business these days.
keimanzero
I believe in ghosts because I have seen several in my 75 years. You see many decades ago, My Mama and I belonged to a Parastudy Group founded by the publishers of Fate Magazine. I believe, though, that one has to be psychically attuned to the nether world and no, Ouija boards and planchettes are simply unconscious movement of someone's hand. But ghosts exist in every culture around the globe, albeit under various titles. Japan calls them yuyu for example and ghosts are part of their Shintoism religion to which I am a convert from Catholicism and Christianity. Have you seen any spooks or hope to see some tomorrow night? Boo! Have a safe and happy Halloween.

At 1 Peter 5:8 we read, "Keep your senses, be watchful! Your adversary, the Devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking to devour someone." And at 2 Corinthians 11:14 we read, "And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps disguising himself as an angel of light." Beware, and Believe! ;-D

Our bedroom, was becoming quite cluttered on my husband's side of the bed on his dresser and beside the dresser. Today, I coaxed him back there and told him I had cleaned out a total large shelf in his walk in closet to put his things. He is back there cleaning out what he wants to keep and what to throw away. Hopefully, he will not junk it back up, but we shall see. Are all husbands like this?

I agree that you are living a clean healthy life but you are wrong when you say the majority picks on the minority as it's quite the reverse. The people demonstrating for Palestine are a minority, the people pushing man-made climate change are a minority, the people who claim a man can be a woman are certainly a minority and the LGB and whatever other letters they have are a minority. They all scream and shout while the silent majority keeps their heads down and gets on with it.

Is there an age that seniors should stop having dogs as pets? Cats work to find with seniors because they are easy to keep. But, dogs require more physical requirements - many seniors have problems with walking dogs. I am 68and have just gotten a puppy. Some people have questioned me about it, asking me if I were to become unable to walk, how would I manage my dog ... my solution would be - I would use a walker if needed. What do you think?
Imperia S '' PIER''
Why should there be an age limit on dogs V seniors, pets of any sort or name, pets give the elderly a reason to keep them happy, fit, and in their right minds, if they can't walk their dog, there are volunteer's companies like here in my area " Poops" and dog care that comes to the home. I can not understand people that come up with these ideas, It should be up to the individual if they want a dog or not

I see too many students/young professionals working all day from a cafe. Keeping a space occupied and using the free Wi-Fi and electricity. I recently learned that the vast majority of these young people will just buy one cup of coffee while keeping a place occupied for 4 8 hours. A local coffee shop is not a public library! The owner needs you to consume drinks to keep the lights on. For me, if you are working in a cafe, you should order a minimum of 2 drinks per hour....
APB
If it was my cafe they wouldn't be doing that...unless they would like to discuss leasing a table...I could be open to that...make the place look busy?...I could maybe live with that....otherwise I'd look forward to seeing them next time...(that would require them leaving now)

The real, number one killer of any marriage or relationship is often a lack of communication or communication breakdown between husband and wife or partners. What's your experience? What is the number one killer of marriages?
Gypsy
I would say, selfishness. Only being concerned about what they want and what makes them happy. Couldn't care less about what the other partner wants or needs, doesn't care about the children. Some how I found myself married to such a person, the marriage officially lasted 12 years.

Making sacrifices in a relationship can have many benefits. Firstly, it can strengthen the bond between you and your partner. It shows that you care about their happiness and well-being and are willing to do what it takes to make them happy. Secondly, making sacrifices can lead to a more fulfilling relationship. What do you reckon? Why does showing love require making sacrifices?
writerrochelle
The Bible reads at John 15:13, "No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul (life) in behalf of his friends." At 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 the Bible tells us what love is, and what it is not. If we all followed Bible principles, there would be no hatred, no wars. At Colossians 3:14 the Bible reads, "But, besides all these things, clothe yourselves with love, for it is a perfect bond of union." Jesus Christ loved mankind so much, he died for us! And, in relationships, if everything the man does if for her, and everything the woman does is for him, they will have a happy, peaceful relationship filled with love! Compromise! ;-D

A long time ago a bakery in the UK advertised that bread provided something like 70% (or more) of the daily protein for an average person these adverts were withdrawn because not all protein is good for you and many act as carbohydrates...then we had vegetarians saying there was easily enough protein in vegetables...we did not need meat or fish....and most recently we have chefs on TV referring to "protein" as somehow meaning only meat and fish any vegetable, bean or pulse...
Missy Wyld
chef on tv? why wud anyone beleive ANYthing they are saying, they are trying to make a living. they r not the real source of truth.
almost all foods have an amt of protein, so are just more easily digested than others.
Animal proteins are very hard to digest, and can't be used by the body until they are broken down to amino acids. (this takes alot of energry away from other thigns the body has to do) ...its why we feeel like we are going into a food coma, after a huge (usually protein meal), all energy is diverted from all but essential body organs.
Most plant proteins don't take nearly as much to digest, except for beans. Not only are they hard to digest, they are also hard on the kidneys (like animal proteins are).
Bottom line is, if you still want to eat meat, cut down substantially. We do not need the amt of animal products we eat these days. U will save ur kidneys and be much healthier.
Kidney disease is fast becoming No. 1 killer.
This protein business is largely a myth, promoted and driven by, give you 1 guess by who? Dairy and cattle industries. *who'd of thought*

I don't know how people could afford to pay their insurance and a co-pay. The insurance is so high and plus paying out of pocket is not helping people with different types of medical history. I think it's real sad the government is trying to get rid of cash payments. What about children who get pocket money for little chores etc. I remember getting coins from my parents, to go grab a treat from the dairy. Controlling human beings with technology these days.
Sheree T
One would think the government would have a lot more important things to concentrate on. Everything seems to be out of control such as the cost of living in general it is absolutely ridiculous what you pay in groceries now not to mention everything else.
If I have cash in my purse and a store did not want to except it, I would never shop there again.

Do you think there'll be an end to seniors receiving government pensions by the year 2073 or in 50-yrs? It's been a century's long stable way of living while enabling seniors to enjoy their later years. And do you think it's a good idea to put off retirement until after the age of 70 instead f taking an earlier retirement? Where I live, a senior can be qualified as a person 55+ albeit even though they are still working & haven't yet retired from the work force.
Mazz
I think that people who have worked all their life should be able to have some retirement life before they become too frail. Retirement age should be 65 yrs and if people want to work longer they can and have tax benefits. Everyone has a different lifestyle and health. Some people already end up unable to work at 65 due to ill health, just look at the aging population that end up in Nursing Homes who are in their early 70s. Let there be a small time in life to enjoy some retirement

The day the earth stood still, the moment you absolutely knew you found your true, everlasting love? It's one of those life-changing experiences that are hard to forget. For some people though, it's more than that. They can't let go, and are determined to rekindle the old flames. People are using the internet to track former sweethearts. Some even get back together and live happily ever after. But the path of long lost love doesn't run smoothly. Do you remember your first childhood...

Definitely. I was sitting at the back of the bus with my best friend when these 2 guys got on and one sat next to me. I was reading a comic and as I turned the page he said "I haven't finished reading that page" so I let him finish reading it. He asked what I was doing the following Saturday and I told him my baby brother was having a Birthday party. Apparently he looked for me on the day and couldn't find me. The following week my friend and I were walking in town when a bus stopped, where they aren't meant to, and he got off the bus with his mate. We started going out that day. I was 13 and he was 15. When he actually saw where I lived he told me he used to live at the bottom of our street and saw a young girl collecting the newspaper from the front lawn one morning and couldn't believe it was actually me. We got married when he turned 21 and we were together until he passed away from cancer just before his 63rd Birthday. It's been almost 5 years now and I still miss him. Especially his big warm hugs.

Men, in our society, are told when they are little boys that they are not to cry and hold it in. When these boys become teenagers, they are told to man up and be a man. These same boys are learning how to date and treat girls in a particular way. If they are lucky enough, these boys see their father treat their mother right and learn life skills about marriage and the interaction of a good married couple. However, some boys, by the time they are teenagers, have seen that It's...

This is a bit of a mixed up discussion topic.
Mental health issues and domestic violence are two different things.
Mental health issues do not lead to domestic violence. Domestic violence is about power and control, and can be exhibited in many ways, not just physically, and not just by men towards their partners. It does however frequently lead to mental health issues for those who have experienced it or been exposed to it.
Getting adequate and timely support for mental health issues, for men, women, and children is not as easy as people seem to think it is. There are long waiting lists to get the appropriate help, and sometimes it can be difficult to even understand, yet explain to another person what the problem is.
I agree that boys are a bit confused as to what their roles in society are meant to be at the moment. The rules keep changing, and people keep telling them that they are “bad”, because they were born make. Especially if they are white.

Why are truck drivers so inconsiderate and reckless driving how they swerve from Lane to Lane cut cars off, run cars onto the shoulder why do they do this can you tell me why?
Avatar Queen
Excuse me!? I think you will find most long distance truckies are the most considerate and consistently safest drivers on the road. It is the impatient arrogance and rudeness of other road users that cause the accidents and other issues on the road! These giant machines weigh an awful lot (tons) and they require both room and space to stop their vehicles and/or turn corners, especially suburban intersections. They also have large areas of 'blind spots' where they simply cannot see cars & other vehicles - just like blind spots in a ar, on.y bigger. If you have any concerns re truck drivers and their driving, might I suggest you do a little research and take a bit more caution on the road to ensure your own safety and that of the truck drivers, too ??

Stop anyone that is not an Australian Citizen from buying property in our country. The cost of property has sky rocketed over the last few years making it hard for people to buy their own home. Lots of other countries won't let non citizens purchase homes and it is about time the Government stepped in.

America's trade war with China seriously damaged major American companies whose products were made in China ....In Australia, when we speak up for people's rights and freedoms in China or question the actions of the Chinese mainland government...we are met with offensive language and tarrifs on some exported goods...a sensible way for everyone to show their dissatisfaction with China's current behavior would be for all of us to just not buy anything that is made...

We could all start by not supporting the 100% Chinese owned energy suppliers in Alinta and Energy Australia. It was the Whitlam Labor government who sold out Australian workers in 1975 with the Lima declaration

There have a couple examples on Rewardia recently about people talking about hanging themselves, or taking a drug overdose, and when I have shown concern or distress the response is that they are just joking ... or teasing ... I lost one of my best mates to a drug overdose. I wasn't there, I didn't know, and I could not help him. I know two people that I used to chat to and have a laugh with ... who both threw a rope over a pipe in the ceiling and hanged themselves at work ...

I hope that the people that you mentioned are just plain frightened by the prospect of suicide. I'm sure they don't understand just how hopeless life can seem for some. Many people that I knew thought I was doing just fine. I had almost everything that I wanted, like so many people, but I came a couple of doctors visits from taking my own life. Circumstances, being what they were at the time, left me feeling so lost and hopeless that I couldn't see any way out.
A good doctor and some very good drugs no have me living again with some hope for the future. No, these feelings are no joke and need to be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible. You have no idea just how many lives would be adversely affected if you go all the way.

I'm the mother of a bride to be, so I'm a little put out that I spend money, and yet I'm invited to the wedding? Would have thought that could be taken for granted. Am I being silly?
Norman PSBHRJ
I think people spend way too much money on a wedding to begin with. To send invitation is a waste of money, I think. Just get together with the closest family member and friend, have it in the back yard and save your money. Weddings are a big show and you spend so much money on one day. You don't need an elaborate wedding to show your spouse you love them.

I'm finding quite frequently that people are way too serious. Almost every time I view a forum on Rewardia, it is serious, and free of fun. Let's try something different today. Tell us your best joke.

I think political correctness is trying to spoil Australians sense of humor. You can't seem to tell a joke without upsetting someone.

The Autopilot feature sounds like a dream come true. Drivers keeping their hands off the wheel and letting the car steer, accelerate, and brake for them is certainly futuristic, though in a report by the New York Times, there have been several red flags. Apparently, crashes have occurred when both the driver and the system itself failed to brake. While there's no doubt Tesla is working to improve the Autopilot feature, it's something of a gamble to give this flawed...

Do you think this should be bought back? I think that if a school-leaver has not found a job within 6 - 12 months, then joining the defence forces would not be a bad thing. It would get these people off the dole, could train them in specific areas and as well as this, you can never have enough trained forces people to protect our country. I know many people would say that this takes people's freedom away, but in the long run I can see the benefits.

Isn't it interesting that some narrow minded people think that solving the unemployed youth issue is as easy as throwing these kids into the armed forces.
Endemic societal issues cannot simply be solved by handing a kid a gun. The root cause needs to be addressed. That cause starts in the home the school the social group and the online barrage of garbage children face every day from the likes of online forums such as face book.
Do not use the armed forces who do a fantastic job of protecting our democratic freedoms as the channel to fix issues that need to be addressed by all.
The ADF does a great job encouraging people from all walks of life to serve and protect.
And to Bob F...below you say use diplomacy? Tell that to Putin and his mates in Iran North Korea and China.
We enjoys freedoms that so many others do not.
Our military forces need to be the best there is. They are there to protect and serve. God bless these people.

I was looking at one of our wonderful retirement "resorts" (they are not called villages anymore...perhaps, so they can charge more...a resort sounds good too doesn't it?...oh I'm just retiring to a RESORT)...the entire place was coloured in shades of beige...EVERYTHING was beige...is this so that residents look around themselves and see everything in Sepia...and it looks like the old photos in their photo albums?...so they feel at home?....or is it that any hint...

Hi APB I live in a Ryman Retirement Village called Keith Park in Hobsonville in Auckland. We have a 3 bed apartment, two bathrooms, and a patio, total 112sq meters and we have two car parks. Our village will not be finished for at least another 12 months, We are ground floor for our two cats who also enjoy living here. There is nothing beige here, the building look bright and modern. Google us to see. We have so many activites Ryman have employed a full time person to organize them. We play bingo on Monday nights. Nothing depressing here it is all go go go. Nothing is too much bother for the staff they even water our patio garden when we are away. It is way better than some hotels we have stayed in. With their security there is little chance of a break in or your car being stolen. That gives you cheaper insurance, all in all its a WINWIN situation.

For me, it's getting into my cosy bed at night and hitting the laptop - YouTube and more so of late Rewardia!! E-book reading has taken a bit of a downturn
Pearlz
The best part of my day is after I have fed my cats, made the bed, had breakfast, done the dishes, swept the floor, dusted, done a couple of loads of washing and hung it out, ironed, either walked or used the treadmill, had lunch and cleaned up, pulled a few weeds, gone shopping if I need anything, fed the cats, prepared dinner, checked my emails, done the dishes, checked the bills, had supper then lights out. Then I may be able to go to bed without any cats, in which case I am able to sleep in any position I want. Tomorrow is another day.

What is your opinion on women playing rugby league?
Bugalugs
I don't care what they play. That being said my grandfather was a Professor of Medicine, specialising in Pathology and Anatomy. In his day he was one of the UK's leading experts in those fields. He did not approve of women/girls playing Contact Sports such as Football (AFL was unheard of) Rugby, Wrestling etc., his belief was that physiologically the female body was not suited to these sports - it had nothing to do with gender as such.
If the reports in the media around the world are true that SINCE THE ADVENT OF Women playing NRLW/ AFLW, FFW etc, the number of Women who have been badly injured as a result of taking part far exceeds, on average, those suffered by men over many years longer. If those reports are true then maybe my Grandfather was right. Of course he was a man and therefore, with today's attitude that Men are Always Wrong he would be disregarded and condemned as being a misogynist, a male supremacist or somesuch nonsense!

Since joining Rewardia I have managed to redeem many $$ worth of vouchers which have helped us in so many ways. Some have even bought Christmas Lights and decorations for the front of our home which is on the Christmas Lights Trail of Townsville in North Queensland. Only yesterday I discovered that my CD player had died and I needed it today so I cashed in 30,000 points for a $30 JB HiFi voucher and went and bought myself a new one much cheaper...

I will do this again as many responded and I deleted it trying to correct something. Sorry Beverly. Well done to you for this topic. Indeed a very Merry Christmas to Rewardia and all the other people on this site. Rewardia deserves this because of all the complaints that they get and quite honestly deserve a medal for it. Their surveys are good but if you get bored there are the games to take your mind off of things. Cheers everyone. Merry Christmas. Take care. PS Mopos you have no need to respond again. lol.

Why do so many elderly men feel the need to have a younger woman as their partner, to the extent that they will pay large amount of money to travel overseas to find one. On the other hand older single women seem much more self reliant and don't seem feel the need to replace there partner with a younger model.
Asesh S
I really cannot answer this question as iam not on the lookout for a younger woman also my wife is sitting next to me and if I were to write anything else iam pretty sure I might not be able to do anything for a while.

Do you believe in Karma? Do you think your bad and good deeds come back to you?
lippy loo
No. Look at the evil in the world perpetrated by horrible humans and nothing happens to them but the good people seem to cop it left right and centre. The old saying only the good die young seems to be too true. I have never wished bad on anyone and I do not believe in Karma but sometimes you have to wonder why nothing seems to touch them in so many cases.

I am an omnivore and amongst the environmentalists, food scientists, economists and dietitians there has been plenty of discussions around how the planet desperately needs our help how our bodies will feel better for it and how plant-based foods can reverse the risk of cancers and diseases. I've done the math and calculated that 40% of my wardrobe has never been worn, with another 20% that has been worn only once. How is it with you? How much of your wardrobe is untouched/unworn?
Survivor
Since being on hormone therapy for breast cancer I put on quite a bit of weight so only about 10% of my clothes I feel comfortable wearing now.
End of every season I go thru what I have and what I didn't wear all season and out it goes. (Gets donated)
Suffice to say my closet is pretty sparse looking now but that's OK. I'm here and alive.

I was walking past a play park today and noticed a young woman shrieking and making weird noises... while running around in circles and sometimes jumping with her arms in the air... then I realised there was a very little person... running behind her... laughing and trying to copy her... a parent actually playing with her child!... how fantastic! Normally the parents I see dump their child on a swing or climbing frame and then just stare at their phones... and I imagine they...

One thing that is quite prevalent and common in the world is drug use and homelessness. Government always talk about having program to help for rehabilitation and housing, but it seldom ever really works. What would be a smarter, more efficient, and realistic way to help deal with these growing issues?
PatCat
There are many empty industrial buildings which could be modified to make "low cost housing" but many of the homeless feel they do not wish to live with their fellow man due to mental illness. Our charities do their best to provide food and short term housing for as many as they can but the provision of mental health assistance has become even harder in Australia since Psychiatric hospitals were closed.

"I never want to go into a rest home". If you have a parent over 70, there's a reasonable chance you ve heard this, maybe over Christmas dinner or after a friend s parent was moved into care. How to respond to that?
Linda 1473555
I'm in that age group and I built my home so it would be suitable for living in as I age. Downstairs has wider doors for wheelchair if needed and no steps. Dont need to go upstairs. Hopefully I will be able to get home help. My sister and I cared for our parents up until the end. They brought us up, so we should care for parents. If its not possible then so be it. I have seen friends go into some very caring nursing homes but there are some that I definitely would not go to. I have had discussions regarding that stage of life, death and funeral as well. Communication is so important.

Do you think inflation is changing people s long-term life goals? Rising costs of housing, food, education, and daily living seem to be affecting major decisions like buying a home, starting a family, or saving for the future. On the other hand, some people believe it encourages smarter financial planning and adaptability. What s your view?
NotFriedLikeMost
15 years ago I changed my entire life to be minimalistic because I knew inflation was coming since we are NOT on a gold standard anymore (which is FRAUD) and I got way out ahead of it. I now pay rent, internet and buy groceries. NOTHING ELSE...unless I absolutely need something. Every single person I hear complain has WAY TOO MANY payments, credit cards, etc. and they spend money multiple times every single day on shit they do not need...oh, but they "deserve" things...lol. They look at costs BACKWARDS. My advice to all is GET RID OF as much as possible and pare right down...sit with that for a month or two...then you'll realize, DAMN...I really do have everything I need. Then you can deal with costs far better. When you comprehend the fractional reserve banking FRAUD going on...then you stop bitching and realizing the games BEEN rigged from the jump...ON PURPOSE...by the elites in control. Enjoy your bread and circuses, they say...and, KEEP CONSUMING NON STOP!!!! It's like this AI bs...why complain? STOP USING IT. STOP FEEDING IT. IT IS A FRAUD AND A MASSIVE SCAM ON SOCIETY AND THESE PEOPLE OF A CERTAIN ILK WILL GASLIGHT YOU BECAUSE THEY ARE MASTER DECEPTION ARTISTS...LIARS, THIEVES, SCAMMERS, etc. STOP FUNDING THESE PEOPLE. STOP USING THEIR TECH...it is ALL spying devices that they want INSIDE OF YOU...to FULLY enslave your consciousness and energy IN THEIR CLOUD....FOREVER!!! Revert BACK to LESS tech...STOP ALLOWING them to move forward...THEY need OUR compliance! Just STOP!!

There is a store in NZ called "Once Loved, Twice Hugged." They collect used soft toys & bring them back to life through care & creativity ensuring they find new homes. Cutting off family can be emotionally painful. It might bring on grief - not just for the relationship, but for the idea of the family you never had. You may experience judgment from others who don't understand your decision. What's it really like to cut off a toxic family member?

Not cut off, but I make no effort to see them anymore. I’m still ‘nice’ to my MIL, but I no longer let her manipulate me after 16 years of letting things slide and just sucking it up. The final straw was when she screamed at me in a restaurant because I suggested, after three bottles of wine, that she might want to slow down a bit. She told me I was a terrible wife to her son and definitely not her ‘cup of tea.’ He sided with her, so the next day when she sobered up and admitted, “I think I might have overreacted last night,” I told her I’d no longer do anything extra but would still be polite—because that’s who I am. Men hang out with their mates...they are pleased to see each other...but it is all fairly normal...if someone likes your T-shirt it is a big deal....whereas women hang out with their "Girlfriends"...(they aren't your girlfriends...they are just your friends unless you are gay)...and when they get together somewhere they can shriek and laugh loudly...but they all cuddle and kiss each other (men tend to hold back on both of those) and a fair bit of time is spent on them telling each...

And this is the difference between men and women. Men...simple. Women...complex. Why? Women NEED to create drama to do ANYTHING but be a traditional woman who wants a husband, kids, etc. and NOT have a high body count in their mid 30s, be lonely, used up and own 10 cats.
Men just want peace, a family, and reciprocated love.

It often combines inner peace, strong relationships, good health, and professional growth, moving beyond just financial wealth to embrace happiness and purpose. What is success according to you?

How much of your decisions are governed by your ego? Do you make more decisions that are based on the approval of others or do you make more decisions that are truly meaningful and purposeful to you? In my mind, I pictured people jumping out of third floor windows, like when the stock market crashed! How difficult would that be for you? Just looking for some inspiration and guidance. Thanks

It's difficult to give you any advice, as I don't know your skills, experience or any training you may have had or what industry you are looking to build your business in.
As for me, I have been self-employed since the mid 1980's and started every business I had without any capital to draw from. One of my most successful businesses is one I started during a recession when people were losing their jobs and companies where closing down. My advice is to start small and simple, then build on that as opportunities arise. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty, be honest, be reliable and give your customers the quality work that they will be happy to pay for. And don't waste money on a fancy office, a flash car or the latest hi-tech phone. Remember always that you work for profit and not to pay off debts.

And these can cost up to $300... what does it do? Being healthy is the single, most important part of our existence - without good health, our lives can be cut short. That said, it's important not to take good health for granted, and to instead feed our bodies the nutrients they deserve by eating a balanced diet and engaging in regular physical activity. What would you say? Which one is most important in life?

How many readers use it to describe someone? When I meet new people and tell them my name, I often get the response, "you're one of those Karen's". I don't get upset anymore because I've become use to it being used as an insult. My saying now is Keep calm and Karen on.

I read of a couple who spent the whole year cruising from one boat to another, according to where the boat was cruising too. Now that sounds lovely, meals all cooked & prepare for you. I would do a cruise that would take in Samoa (not the AMERICAN side) as it is where my husband & I renewed our Wedding Vows & we had a marvelous time. We started off at Fiji for a week then we went to Samoa. I even had a Puletasi (traditional wedding dress) made for me who was the lady working in the souvenir shop. She also happened to be a seamstress in her "spare" time. It was lovely & my husband wore the traditional dress code for a man. We still have them, can't say that they still fit but we still have the photo's & memories of that wonderful holiday. We did that trip back in about 1995 & next month we celebrate our 65th year of being married.

Have you been irked by some "Great deal" advertised that was utter garbage? I was shopping at BWS, and they had two prices on display, one being "normal price" and the other ONLY if you downloaded their app. What a ridiculous way to qualify for a discount. I love Liquorland, they make shopping easy. You just show them the competitor's price, and they match it, and you leave so you know you will always get the best price without jumping through a million...

It seems everyone wants you to install their app to get deals. I was at a pet food store and the cashier told me about their deal, but I need to install the app and scan the QR code. I said no thank you lol. I don't want a bunch of apps on my phone, plus, it drains the battery.

Okay, let's be honest, society's kinda obsessed with the "hustle," pushing us to work all the time. But is that really the key to happiness? Or are we missing out on life while chasing that paycheck? Some folks are all about that grind, sacrificing everything for career success. They believe hard work equals happiness. Others are like, "nah, life's too short," prioritizing fun, friends, and experiences. They think happiness comes from living life to the fullest, not just...

I live by "Treat others how I wish to be treated." There are definitely more important things in life as money, or career success. If I could effect just one person's life for the better in any way, and impact them enough that they strive to do the same for someone else, then i think I could feel content with my life. For me the true highlights of life are found in the small things, the things most people don't even acknowledge exist or have no appreciation for at all. To be more specific, for me, Music has brought the greatest aspects in my life, as a drummer I had a really good teacher that enabled me to be able to teach others in the same or similar ways. I found value in the pets ive had growing up, in particular a Burmese cat, Oscar, when I was age 14, he picked me as his favourite out of my whole family and made me a cat person, I now have my own cat named Oscar and he means the world to me. I thrive on helping others and have always lived to learn lessons each and every day so that all the rare lessons ive learned can be taught or passed on to someone else.

There is a new theory from astrophysicists that there was no Big Bang and that our universe is actually residing in the interior of a black hole. These runs counter to the conventional belief that nothing survives in a black hole and all matter is destroyed. What do you think? Are we living in a black hole?
Teri
I think the scientists of all lines should just accept the fact that God created us and stop trying to discover/explain otherwise.

Most of us have old friends, and we may sometimes have different recollections...but as you get older loads of memories also come pouring back in again...details places people's names... I had a long term school friend, who had an older brother called Robert...he lived with his parents and my mate in their house...he was a lot older than us and fairly serious... I had forgotten about Robert and I realised that at some point he just vanished...and nobody EVER talked about him...

Everyone knows that I am a music maniac, but there is an amazing therapy to bring back memories called Synocheer . . It is not well known. ..The process is... try to get as close to the date , month, year of your required memory. ..Then find songs/music from all styles, genres, current at that time. ..select some that you remember and some that you would not have listened to back then. So, it should be country, jazz, pop, rock, soul, classical and so on. ..You need at least 50 songs/music in that time space. ..Randomise them, select a time in the day when you will not be interrupted. .. Headphones are good too. ..and listen to all of them.
You will be amazed at the outcome. .. It happens during, after and even weeks after. .. .....And, an added bonus, you can actually feel a euphoric high for the rest of the day.

The 10-acre site in Albany, Auckland, features graves nestled among beautifully manicured gardens and unique art pieces, offering a serene space where visitors can pay their respects in their own way. Is a local pet cemetery something you think you would use? Share your thoughts ...
Neo
No. I won't even use a human cemetery so why would I use one for pets? Cemeteries are a waste of space that could be better utilised for the living (humans, animals and trees and plants etc).

Just found out that Airbnb... And Facebook Marketplace...have moved into the Real Estate Market...while I understand about vertical integration and efficiencies in supply chains... I don't want a rental company or Facebook selling property...or the local supermarket to be insuring my home or car for that matter...what is going on?...this is total madness....isn't it?...
Dada WA
Same as fast food companies. They start out as maybe a chicken outlets then expand and sell everything and the quality drops. Also Chemist Warehouse now do spectacles. Specsavers now do hearing aids. They all just chasing money!. Supermarkets dont do insurance - they are just a broker and get a cut from the multinational underwriter.

Overspending. The interest-free installments and smaller payment amounts can make larger purchases seem more affordable than they really are. This can lead to a temptation to buy more stuff than needed, increasing the risk of debt, defaulted payments, and lower credit scores. What else? Is there any downside to buy now, pay later?
Glenystas
if you cannot afford it don't buy it is our mantra, too easy to over commit yourself and go into debt. have to remember Wants not Needs.

How would you go about talking with a narcissistic person? Someone who is always right, someone who judges others while they themselves do what they judge others for. Someone who thinks the world revolves around them and like draining the energy out of people.
Ek M
considering there seems to be a lot of these people in the world today it is hard to avoid or ignore them, so I Ignore their conversation and continue to do what I know is right and safe for me

Struggle teaches you prioritisation and helps you realise. What Is Really Important. Prioritisation means choosing what matters most. When you face multiple tasks and responsibilities in life, they will compete for both your time and resources. What would you say? What struggle teaches you?

Life in general keeps coming up with problems that have to be solved. The day I stop learning is the day I die.

My husband and I have slowly been downsizing (way before the minimal living movement became trendy). We went from an acreage and a huge federation home to living in a school bus. We love it. We now wonder why we ever spent so much money on conforming to the mortgaged white house picket fence idea. We now live debt free and travel nomadically (and we aren't grey haired yet). What do you think of the tiny house living movement?
otten m
I up-sized eighteen years ago when I stopped full time work. I went from a nice two bedroom unit in Sydney to a spacious, open living space with an upstairs (master bedroom and ensuite, living area and deck) and downstairs (two bedrooms, bathroom, laundry, kitchen and large dining and living area. Deck at front of house, side of house wrapping around to back of house all with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. (3 min walk to beach ion central Qld coast). Whenever I walk into a "normal" house now it always seems pokey and small. I would not like living in a small space again.

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia, want to charge its customers, $3 to withdraw their own money from an ATM. They already charge $4 a month to people who don t have $2000 a month deposited into their account, robbing the poor, or low income people. They already charge CEO is on approximately $7.3 million a year, bank profits are $9.48 Billion a year. Do you think this is a move to remove cash as currency, as other banks will surely follow...
writerrochelle
I'm Blessed because my bank doesn't charge for ATM withdrawals, or their checking or savings accounts ($50 saving minimum), so I never have any fees to pay! They even give nice gifts on our birthdays if we come into the bank. I've received an umbrella (with their name on it, of course), coffee mugs, and others. I love my bank, and will never change! ;-D

I was looking at getting more solar panels for the house, but the rebate keeps getting lower, and off-peak gets higher! I heard power companies are thinking to charge us soon for taking what we put into the grid! Do you think it's worth the cost $3500 or so to get more panels now?
Andrew C 287196
Solar panels are somewhat of a con trick. It costs a fortune to get them installed, then you need an expensive battery to store the power for when there is no sun. You need to keep the panels clean for best efficiency (difficult since they're usually on the roof), even then the panels and the battery *will* wear out and need replacing. Even worse, they claim it is "green" energy, yet making and disposing of the panels and batteries is hideously polluting.
Best not to bother and just stick with regular mains supply. If you can (not possible in New Zealand any longer 🙁), use a government owned supplier so you aren't being charged excessive amounts simply to fill the greedy pockets of the electricity company's management and shareholders.

Lately when we go shopping to our local Large Store (not sure if I can say which company it is) we have noticed there are a large number of food items that are being pushed that are not made or produced in Australia. For example Bacon, on the back of the packet it states 8% made/produced in Australia some go up to 18%, there was 1 company that was 98% Australian they are no longer on display ? We now buy our Bacon from the local butcher (much cheaper too...

I used to really enjoy tinned smoked oysters. But then I noticed that the only brands stocked come from china. So I've stopped buying them. I also have noticed that some products imply by sneaky wording that they're australian, but you can tell by their australian product number, the barcode with 13 digits under it on the package somewhere. if it starts with 93 it's australian and 95 for nz.
