Was having a conversation with my partner a little while ago about the latest person who won a big amount in the lottery. He grumbled that they probably didn't deserve it. I said anyone who buys a ticket deserves to win. So he asked "So if a rich person like Bill Gates for example brought a ticket then does he deserve to win?" To which I replied "Yeah because he brought a ticket!". What do you think? Do you think anyone deserves luck or good fortune?
BLM
Everyone deserves luck or good fortune - PERIOD!

Hello everyone, question: Is it too risky to get an investment with no experience whatsoever in this industry ?
Andrew C 287196
Just stick to normal local bank term deposits. They're much safer - let the bank take the risk of the ups and downs of the stock market. Stay well away from stupidities like cryptocurrency and transferring money to overseas "companies" that are more likely just scams!!

Everyone has different tastes and needs, so we all have different food combinations in our pantry. What do you consider to be your main pantry staples that you strive to always have in your pantry or fridge?
Michelle S 553303
If you strive to always have SOMETHING in your pantry then I would strongly suggest that you get multiples of everything starting now! As much as MSM won't talk about it, there IS going to be a global famine and even now it has begun in African and some poorer Middle Eastern countries too. There is simply NOT going to be enough food to feed everyone and with a deficit in supply only one thing is certain and that is that prices will continue to rise in ways that we who have grown up over the last 50 years have never conceived of! Farmers are being told NOT to grow food or they have seen prices for fertilisers go up so high, if available at all, that it isn't worth planting crops but taking the insurance money for a lost crop instead. The "environment" has become the reason for the slaughter of millions of additional animals which would not have ended up on our plates this year or next because the "Nitrogen Minister" of a country has stated that the animals have to go so that "Mother Earth" is saved from the ravages of sheep and cows! Crops are failing due to inclement weather either drowning the plants or drought drying them out. Water is and will continue to be restricted for farming and even the growing of rice, a stable food item on the menu of billions of people all around our planet isn't forgotten by the architects of this intentional disaster. There IS a war on food and if you and your loved ones WANT to eat in the years to come you MUST make ready now before supply slows and rationing becomes widespread. It sounds science fiction or like a novel but we are ALL going to go through times we simply can't begin now to imagine in our near future! Fill up that pantry now, buy as many Mason jars as you can find and fill them, get kilos of salt as it's a valuable commodity and plant a garden with non GMO seeds! All the best to you all.

With the recent quake in Melbourne, I am curious to know people's experience. Are you like me and only experienced small quakes, or have you been somewhere where there are big quakes? What were you doing when you experienced a quake, and what was your first thought? Did you know straight away it was a quake, or did you think something else?
Olearia
Experienced all the big quakes in Christchurch 2010/2011. The 7.1M/depth 10km in 2010 was at 430am. I woke instantly and knew - I genuinely thought the house was collapsing so ran outside although that was hard to do. I thought my heart would explode it was beating so fast. I left the doors open overnight for a month after that.
The 6.3M and 6.1M /depth 5km earthquakes that killed nearly 200 people in 2011 was mind-blowing in its violence- you were glued to the spot by the gravitational forces. I was in the kitchen at work and clung desperately to a doorway. The noise was totally deafening. It was just random luck if you happened to be in a structurally safe building or not, whether you were safe, injured or killed, how damaged or liveable your home was. The shallower the earthquake, the worse the effects. After months of aftershocks (had about 10000), I naturally only took direct Drop-Cover-Hold action for quakes longer than 5 seconds and over about M4.5. I started hyperventilating at the occasional bigger ones only several years later. I only ever had nightmares about tsunamis and not earthquakes- go figure.
It took five years for workers to turn up and re-level my house floor. Mother Nature rules…we are just fleas on a dog’s back along for the ride.

Nowadays being free means being unemployed or lazy, but what is true is that every day is a list of thousands of things to do, but once you finish them and there is nothing else to do, all you have is free time, but then people will call you lazy. In that way, most people will see you as a lazy person because you are doing nothing on your free time. In some areas of the world, being free means that you have finished your work, but in some others means that you are eating your time...
Dada WA
Do you really care what other people think? I know I don't. Live your life how you want it to be not what others want. I'm retired and have lots of "free" time. But always busy doing something, surveys included and answering forums like this one.

What do you think about going out for lunch these days? Costs an arm and a leg, it's so overpriced ... Think it's time to start doing my own baking and treats etc. Prices has skyrocketed!
BLM
I have not been out for 'lunch', since December of 2019 (when Covid19 first made its ugly appearance in USA). Officially, Covid19 is over in USA. Unofficially, Covid19 - finished in fourth place (2022) in number of Americans killed by a disease (aka a virus) - last year. I still see people who are wearing mask - in public. I am still wearing a mask - in public - because hundreds of people are still dying from Covid19 on a daily basis in USA. I have a SEVERE IMPAIRED IMMUNE SYSTEM - WHICH LEADS ME OPEN TO CATCHING COVID19 WITH FATAL CONSEQUENCES FOR ME. I have not been in a restaurant (any type of restaurant) for almost four years and I do not see myself going into a restaurant (anytime soon) - until Covid19 is effecting less than one percent of the population in USA!

How much does it cost where you are? I find GPS charges to be quite shocking. So shocking, I miss out on checkups. Do you struggle with affording a checkup?
Casey J 829907
What's the point of Medicare these days.. it's ridiculous how expensive the doctor has become. We are slowly becoming americanised and no one will be able to afford to even go to hospital eventually. It's pretty pathetic to be honest.

What are your experiences on pre-teen behaviours? Is it normal for them to develop a hate towards parents and start being naughty and develop foul language. Are there any tricks or advice anyone has?
Pearlz
When my children were pre-teens my husband was very often away, often for months at a time with the RAN so I ruled my home with an iron rod. If I hadn't my life would have been hell. They were children and had rules and rarely needed to be punished. There was no acting up or swearing, they were allowed out to play but had a time that they had to be home. I really didn't ever have a problem with any of them and they were church goers. They are all married now with children of their own, they were never in any trouble, didn't do drugs and were not drinkers. They also stayed at home until they married which was late in their 20"s. My mother always said I had turned my sons into sooks but their wives tell me a did a brilliant job with them. Because dad was usually not here my boys were quite close to me and were always very helpful to their mum. One rings 2 or 3 times a week for a chat.

City planning and quality of life are believed to go hand in hand. If you were to think about public transport infrastructure, road layouts or accessible leisure spots, what in your day-to-day life is affected by poor city planning, and how does it affect your quality of life?
Sandra C 12043
Too many apartment buildings going up in our area. We are close to the city and now the lovely old houses that are on larger blocks being torn down to replace with ugly apartment buildings. They will never last as long as these houses have and what is even harder to take is that all the lovely old trees are being cut down. It will soon be a concrete jungle. These buildings de-humanise the area and within a short time look dirty and shabby.

Alot of us Rewardian's have or have had pets in our lives- i have always been privileged to have precious creatures in my life. Just wondered if anyone felt like sharing a funny story or something memorable one of their animals- past or present- has done. I love seeing people's profile pics of their animals. I do not have any type of pets and I never had any inclination to own a pet. However, I saw a movie called "The Daring Dobermans (1975)" - clever Doberman pinschers (dogs) that were being trained to become bank robbers (once upon a time - a goal of mines) - my type of "pet" - since I have a ton of untapped latent criminal behavior in me - (aka capitalism and aka white-collar crime) - lol!

no, not everyone who wants to be able to use it wants it for medical purpose. If alcohol is legal when used responsibly, then marijuana should also be legal under the same regulations.

We know that plastic is bad for the environment and that is why we pay council rates for recycling, now councils introduced cash for recycled items (instead of having the bin chicken we now have bums looking for recyclable items in our bins) my question is why we have to be penalised for plastic waste if we are already paying the council rates for the so-called recycling

Not sure what a chicken bin is...The "bums" will probably sort out plastic waste and make some money out of it...I hope that you never become one (but you might be)....I'm not sure about what the last bit is about entirely

I think the pros are you not going to waste money on something that other person don't like/need/want, but on the other hand there is not any personal input to it anymore. I know some people from my family would get really mad if I give them gift voucher for Christmas, but some would be really happy about it. Where are you at? Gift voucher yes or no?

Hey there fine Rewardian Geniuses..this is a dilemma for a close family member of mine who is very important to me. Their spouse has retired a year or so ago- made Redundant. They have continued to catchup and stay in touch with a Colleague since then. The Colleague is of opposite sex. Hi Mary, I have a good male mate, I spend nights over there, he comes over here occasionally (he lives in the wop wops). 90% of my mates are male (less hassle lol). I don't hide my phone, say where I'm going and who with, etc. There needs to be proof, acting on suspicion can break a relationship with no substance to back it. Get your family member to meet the colleague, if the spouse has nothing to hide then no worries. My partner is fine with my friendship with my mate. It's called trust (insert happy emoji smiley face).

Recently as I scrolled through Instagram looking at my friend s holiday activities, it struck me that we all have different interests and hobbies. Being together without contention and not having to be doing something special to have good, quality time with your family. It's the little things that matter most. Sure doing activities is great. But it isn't a prerequisite to quality time with family. Just be....and appreciate each other.

In this technological world, where machines are replacing by human power in each corner of life. We are surrounded by machines, and now restaurant owners want to replace staff to robot servers.
Christina C 466456
Yeah why not. A robot wont cough/breathe covid onto my food, pass on hepatitis or be rude.
In Japan they have these robot waiters which are remotely connected to customer service people - some of which have disabilities, so it gives them a job plus merges the human aspect of customer service into the android. I thought that was quite neat.

Do you find the grammar used in public statements is atrocious these days? I cringe nearly every day at the obvious errors made in newspaper, television and radio reports. Amongst my best was giving my input to our National Road Safety Program and also one re the best Chocolate I have eaten. Your favourite and best survey is/was on?

I quite like the short surveys about new product or advertisement concepts, they usually pay reasonably well. Also the Red surveys usually give me 30 points compensation when screened out.

Recently, I read a report stating that the production of making an Electric vehicle was more damaging to the environment than the production of petrol driven cars. I own a reliable older Toyota Corolla that keeps on going and going and think that it would be friendlier to the Environment than the current Electric vehicles for sale. What do you think about Electric...
lippy loo
I'm not impressed by them. You still have to make the cars and that involves the usual stuff. You have to generate more electricity to accommodate the increase in electric cars and of course outlets all over the place. I guess we need the cons and negatives to really understand if there are any actual benefits. Of course, the world is probably running out of oil so this could be the impetus to change the fuel. My car is 20 years old and I just had it serviced and checked and it is in good nick. Mind you I have not even reached 70000ks yet so I do not drive much and most of those k's were in the first 10 years. lol

Reputation matters. As social beings we re hardwired to care what others think. A good reputation takes time to build, but can be destroyed by just one misstep or allegation. When we think about rising the property market, we should think of our demand in our future generations. There s no point of increasing the prices of our rentals when we know it takes time to find people who want to move in the house, but if we low our price people will always work hard in order to pay the pills and to have food on the table

Just for our health's sake, we need regular check-ups at the doctors. With women needing mammograms after 50 or so, I once told my GP that checking for breast lumps would be easier if there could be a dummy that women could feel that sort of thing and was told that there is such a thing, but this practice could not afford it. Wouldn't you think governments should pay for such things?

As its 19 years to the day since my own dear mother died from breast cancer at the young age of 62, I would agree that existing products such as the one referred to SHOULD be made available. There's a lot of government money spent on utter nonsense that surely funding should be made available to save many, many women just like my own mum. Thanks for reading.

Recently, one of our local rural roads was reduced in speed to 80kph - this was because it was cheaper than fixing the road in the first place. The road is still terrible to drive on, but it appears the city has first preference when it comes to fixing up the roads...a local freeway was 'smoothed' over a few weeks ago, a total waste of money - we have a lot of dirt roads round here, which could have benefited from the material used to 'fix' the freeway. Over 600,000 Australians suffer from a hoarding disorder. The rest of us may not be hoarders but there are other complicated attachments to things that we have. How much stuff do you have? What happens when we don't own stuff but the stuff starts to own us?
BLM
Between 2% and 6% of the US population are hoarders. In the US it is called Hoarding Disorder (HD). Men are more likely to become hoarders then women. HD can severely affect (in a negative manner) your "mental health" - trust me - I know! Extreme HD can lead to your apartment becoming a potential fire hazard - if you are a smoker. Warning signs you are a hoarder (if you reside in the US): 1. You live alone 2. You are more likely to be obese then then the average person 3. You are a perfectionistic 4. You still have at least one family member who is STILL a hoarder (that you came in contact with on a daily basis at one point in your life). I used to be hoarder till I recognize I had a "problem (HAHA)". I started seeing a pysychologist to deal with my "problem" (31 years ago) - and I was able to stop beginning a hoarder for the last 29 years of my life! Yes, I am OLD! However, the urge to hoard stuff still lurks in me - I learned with the help of professional (pyschologist) to keep hoarding at bay for the rest of my life! NO! You can not literally (with your own stuff) hold onto your PAST forever - regardlessly how hard you try! Time moves on - you have to learn to adapt and move on - or you will trap yourself in the past (with your own stuff).

Free range and pasture raised chickens are much healthier for consumption and animal lifestyles. Allowing chickens to run free encourages their egg development and lets them live happier and healthier. Farmers should work to introduce more pastures for chickens.
Linda Humby
THEY DONT TREAT CHICKENS LIKE ANYTHING OTHER THAN EGG MAKERS. ITS REALLY SHOCKING. IVE WORKED IN ONE. MADNESS AND CREULTY, JUST LIKE OVERSEAS. I THOGHT WE DID BETTER IN OUR COUNTRY. THE CHICKENS ARE KEPT AWAKE 24/7 SO THEY LAY ONE EGG EVERY 12 HOURS. HONESTLY, I CANT SAY DESGUSTING OFTEN ENUFF. I CANT EVEN SPELL IT PROPERLY COZ IM SO MAD AT HUMANS

Why do people pay good money to buy ripped and torn Jeans that make them look like they can't afford new clothes, because I don't care how broke I am , I refuse to leave the house wearing rags.
Anneliese
Yes I personally don't like the look either, but fashion is what it is. It's the same as the messy hair look or beach hair look, people spend money on products to recreate a look they can achieve naturally because they want to appear effortless because it's seen as desirable, when actually they are the exact opposite. I guess I just don't care enough about fashion.

I have just spent about 45 minutes washing my car, and oh my lord, the amount of white paint where people have scraped my car getting in and out of a parking space is unbelievable. How hard is it to pull into a parking space and back out without touching the car next to you? I think it would be extremely helpful if the shopping centres installed CCTV so we could see who was doing this. I know if I have a bad enough one I get to pay the excess for any repairs that need...
MoB
I park as far away from the shops as possible. Most cars that have trouble getting into a shopping centre carpark are four wheel drives. I think shopping centre carparks should have a separate area for these big cars to park in. They don't only cause trouble when they are parking but make it impossible for a small car to see around them when trying to get out of a car park.

Do you think traveling to a foreign county is a good idea? Would you need to speak some of that country's language or just get by on guessing what is going on? I have been to some countries like China, S. Korea, and Thailand and I found that most of the places I toured in those places the people could speak some English. I felt comfortable there. Just asking for others opinions as there are more countries I would like to visit.
Pearlz
My trip to Hawaii was cancelled last year and I do want to go while I am still young enough to drag my bag behind me but there will need to be next to no Covid out there. I don't want to go anywhere that requires sticking a stick up my nose, and I don't want to have to wear a mask, quarantine in my room for even one day and I certainly don't want to end up in a hospital in a foreign country. So no overseas travel for me for sometime yet.

Should children be allowed to have actual real decision making say in large life changing or altering decisions that will affect their families future? Such as 1.) Where a family will be moving and/or purchasing their new home. 2.) Should a family purchase a different model or style or size of vehicle then they normally would to help with world issues such as pollution, gas costs, or parking structures/lots to store all of a city's vehicles? 3.) Types of groceries or foods...
Pearlz
This has to be a joke. Children are just that, children, and to my mind children should be seen and not heard. Why would they have a say? They don't earn a living, they go to school to learn. It seems to me that parents do not want the responsibility of rearing children and want children to rear themselves. How can a child possibly have the maturity, experience and knowledge to even be given consideration in making life changing decisions. Children deserve a childhood free from such things, no worry or responsibility, that will come soon enough. If an adult feels the need to check with a child for permission to lead his or her life then perhaps they should remain childless. Is it any wonder there are so many horrid bratty children out there, they don't have a parent they have another friend. Stop frightening them with climate change, possible war, sustainability and all that other rubbish. Why scare them with things that might never happen. I remember the Cuban missile crisis and asked my father "will there be a war", he told me I was not to worry about it or be concerned but to let adults sort it out. Indeed they did and my father was right, as a child I had no need to worry. Do not put grown up heads on little shoulders. Let them be children.

We all keep hearing about everything we have to do to be successful in life. I'm talking about things like getting a Uni Degree, getting a job, getting married, having children, earning more year after year, having friends, buying a house, getting a new car and so on. What do you thing is the cause of social pressure and how do you deal with it?
lippy loo
I am in my 70's and we had it back when I was a teen. I started work at just turned 15 and I paid for my clothing, transport, board, health care etc. At 21 if you were not married you were being talked about as being left on the shelf. Always been pressure put on everyone but the trick is to ignore the pressure and live your life as best you can with a good conscience, respect for family and yourself and never let friends influence you in ways that are not healthy. These days I think people should put their phones down and start talking to people. Influencers as they are called are just wanna be's who really do not know much anyway but seem to get a following and many become quite rich because of this so called fame.
It used to be called keeping up with the Jones's back in my day and that was something I never aspired to. I still don't. There will always be someone prettier, have a better figure, be taller, have a better car, house, job etc. I guess you have to learn to be satisfied with what you have and improve it if you wish by common sense approaches.

It's sometimes mentioned by the media, that WOMEN tend to have much poorer financial skills than men, and that does seem to be the case! Many women say they like to be --independent, but some of them prove otherwise. Some leave it to their partners to sort out the family finance. Many of those then...who break up with their spouses... are left High and Dry!. Some end up with little money when they part company with their Ex --partners. Why do you think...
Jellypony
My grandmother had 2 small children during WW2 and they fled Malaya and ended up in Western Australia, she lost a baby on the journey. My grandpa ended up a prisoner for years. Any way my grandma was one of the first in Australia to put strawberries into vanilla ice cream. She made quite a bit of money for her self and her 2 children. They waited until grandpa could come back and then went back to the UK. My parents settled back here once they were married. I am proud to say I am in charge of our finances, I pay all the bills and I know where every cent has gone or where it needs to be. I do believe some women aren't allowed to have their own money in some marriages. Me kind of included the first time around. Not the case this time. It certainly makes a change. I still have my own bank account and I transfer what I want when I want.

With the current housing crisis in New Zealand getting out of control. Do you feel that it's up to Real Estate Agents to help the crisis by setting realistic house prices and rental prices instead of driving the prices up. These agents seem to have a lot of clout when it comes to "setting the price"
Joanne D 188999 NZ
i believe they go by the council valuations on setting the price for houses. Its the council that is at fault, making the land more valuble which in turn they set the price for how much people pay in land rates.

If you ask your child to keep plate in sink or do laundry is it wrong? Are parents responsible until they turn 18?
Michelle S 553303
I had 5 children who are now aged between 28 and 39. When they were growing up I and my now ex husband had his Italian father living with us. He had worked so hard all his life after being a prisoner of war in WW2 and became medically retired by the time my eldest daughter was born and she is now 35. Because his wife abandoned him AND the 2 children who were 3 and 5 at the time and there wasn't a pension available for him to recieve in order to be able to keep his family together, the children stayed with grandparents and great grandparents on their mothers side, and sometimes in the Catholic orphanages which were very cruel as was their maternal GM. By the time I met my children's father at age 15 Giuseppe would leave at 4:30 am and bot arrive back until about 6pm at night and then go to bed and start all over again. I mention this because it's important to the story. I didn't fully realise until about 20 years ago when I gained a little perspective and started to head into my 40's just what a wonderful man I'd been blessed to know. As I had more children my FIL would do the laundry, being fully retired now, the cooking, a lot of the cleaning and garden maintenance, including having a large vegetable garden that fed us fresh vegetables. Because of this being waited on hand and foot my children didn't learn to do the chores which I had learned to do, without argument, since I was a very young child. I am not lying but stating a truth that my husband grew up very lazy and unmotivated and this, combined with their grandfathers constant help, prevented my children from developing a disciplinet hat I had in spades having come from a typical nuclear family of the 1960's with traditional gender roles. My children have however developed their own discipline and now are functioning members of society and appreciate just what a blessing they did have growing up with a grandparent living with them. Giuseppe too got what HE wanted: :a family with children he could help raise and be at home with to watch them grow! My children talk about their grandfather often and his ashes sit not 2 feet from where I write this in bed having lost him at age 97 3 years ago. But children enjoy getting mum a nappy or "folding" up a face washer or carrying swmething for whatever parent is taking care of the child at the time. It gives them happiness and pride in their achievements and that's ALWAYS a good thing! Thank you for reading this and have a nice day.

Europe has a proposal to ban all new cars that run on fuel by 2035. It might yet get the go ahead, but there is quite some resistance to the idea of doing this, as you would expect! The new vehicles would have to be electrical. If this goes ahead eventually in ---Europe....you would have to anticipate it would follow on to other nations, in North America, Asia, Australisia, etc. Would you like to see this happen in your country? Do you think this is good...
Stephan S
Europe has a good infrastructure and not so long distances.Australia is completely different and I dont think electric cars are suitable at the moment. There is not even the necessary infrastructure and also the grid is already now on its limits.I will not buy an electric vehicle anytime soon

Some of us are in different countries, others from different provinces. We live here, there and a few more places. What dishes or foods do you find yourself cooking or eating? And, why? I'm interested and hopefully, recipes will be shared!

I like to try recipes from different eras, the ones from the 1930s are particularly good for anyone on a tight budget as they were developed for the depression into the era of food rationing during WWII

Maybe I am "old school" but I believe both partners should show their love and commitment to one another by wearing wedding bands.

I had intended to install solar panels on the roof of the building that I own...these panels will not only meet all my power needs but also feed back MORE power to the grid...my body corporate is actively doing everything possible to stop this...THIS IS MADNESS....body corporates need to be forced to allow solar panels...by law...if we can't install solar panels..how are we going to make any difference to climate change...all these little self important...

No!, keep them away, give little people a bit of power, it goes to their heads, solar panels are good for the world, some little idiot should not have a say, fight on, you're doing a good thing.

You have inherited a vast sum of money, from a senior ... family --member! Or, got lucky in the lottery's. What would you do with it? Maybe ... travel, buy a boat, house, help out with others in the family? Donate some of it, or even invest part, or all of it! How exciting! So many things you could do with a lot of money.

If I won a million dollars, undoubtedly, I would wet myself with excitement. First thing I would do is buy some new undies.

So often we hear people say, "If I only knew then what I know now." Looking back now I see so many things I wish I had not done, wrong decisions made, usually to please other people and I wonder if given another chance, would I still have done it. If you could go back and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

One of life s many wonders, for me, is heritage and cultures. Many are steeped with the knowledge of it and others not so much. I am a blend. I am Tsalagi (Cherokee - American Indian), African-American, and Irish. I know enough about they all, but never all. How do you feel about your heritage and it s culture? Or, is there anything you are willing to share about your heritage to enlighten some of us with an additional awe?

I'm Australian as was my parents & grandparents, why do I have to bend over backwards to appease the indigenous people of this country that my family help build to today's standards I'm getting sick and tired of the racist remarks of the aboriginals, they get insulted with the word black but wear black shirts and clothing with their own flag on it and everywhere else.

A few local parking lots. I'm almost afraid to go there during peek hours. They drive like crazy people and I'm fearful of an accident!

Parking lots are shared spaces with pedestrians so extra care is needed. I really hate it when you’ve backed half way out and some brainless kirp roars around the back looking so indignant and flips you off. No patience, 5 seconds and the job is done

I recently joined Ancestry.com and, although l expected to find my immediate family and inlaws, l was also expecting it to be a tedious and hard slog to find many relatives after that. Genealogy is addictive! Are you interested in genealogy? Do you belong to a genealogy website or...

I find so many young ones nowadays are always on sick leave or just ring in sick. I have over 100hrs owing to me. I'm hardly ever sick but when I do I feel guilty ringing in. I know I must get over that feeling guilty. Oh well, at least I'm reliable.

Self pitying too.If you are genuinely sick there is no reason to feel guilty taking sick leave. However as such a reliable worker your boss could look at paying you for some of the days owing to you .I always did as an employer .

Should the government make COVID-19 vaccination compulsory as many business are?
Margarret F
Absolutely NOT compulsory. The flu vaccination system works without being compulsory - why should anything else change this procedure. Malaria kills millions of children per year too and measles is much more contagious. There is much to consider.

Here in Australia most of the population is in major cities. Australia is known as a wide brown land. Is there a willingness to move to more rural areas if fast rail ever goes ahead or jobs created in large rural towns. Could people in other countries reflect on their situation if it reflects this situation.
Carolyn 395035
I live in a rural area and absolutely love it. Rail - hmmm - what rail??? - We used to have one in Cowra, NSW, but the government decided to close it because it was not making enough money. Same thing happened with the airport. Now the only way people can get here is by train to Bathurst and bus the rest of the way, or you can drive the four hour drive. With due respect to Council, they need to try and get our train lines open again.

We have to live and do the best with what we have. Sometimes I feel so frustrated with myself like a cat - chasing its tail going around and around, have so many bad habitats like all the bad habitats are stopping me from genuinely enjoying and getting the best out of my life. I do have some good habitats like listening to music, god please help me and my family and friends, I know life can be better and more enjoyable god bless you all.

Well it's been a roller coaster of a ride this year globally. I have met some great people on Rewardia and hope next year will be positive for everyone. I thought I would go out with a poem that sums up a typical Christmas for our family. Aunty May has come to stay with Uncle Bob close by her side, I let out a groan, the kids all moan and my partner's gone to hide! The best deals are usually immediately after Christmas. This because the retail stores want to sell the materials they have overstocked on. And want to do this as quickly as possible. What is your experience?

No matter how good-looking a car may be, safety should always come first. As well as looking out for features such as ABS, traction control, and airbags, you should also check the safety record. What features or characteristics do you value most in a vehicle?
lippy loo
I like the older cars with manual transmissions and wind down windows which are plus for safety. If you break down you can push the car and even push start it. If you go into water you can wind the windows down and get out not so in electric cars etc.
There is so much going on in the new cars that it is distracting the drivers.

Dear Rewardians! We would like to introduce two new games that we have added today to the Play and Earn section. The first game is "Hexagon Fall," where the goal is to remove blocks to let your hexagon fall down. The second game is "Find Me," where you have to find the specific player in the crowd before time runs out. Since we have just added these games today, they haven't had time to gain a rank yet and are currently at the bottom of the list.
Jewel
I see Thomas is at the top of the leader board for Hexagon fall...just wondering how many points you accumulated? I am sitting at no.5 and for my top scoring game I only got 2 points! Hardly worth the effort.
The Find Me game seems to cheat...I click on the man multiple times before it finally registers and then only ever seem to get 2 points.

What food do you love that other people seem to think is odd? Or what food do you loathe that others seem to love? I really like coriander (aka cilantro for the US users) as do my sisters. I use it a lot when making Thai dishes. My adult 'kids' hate it, to them, it tastes like soap. (clearly their dad's gene's influencing it) I can't stand olives or oysters, but they are both quite popular with others. How about you ? Do you have foods you love/ hate...
Thylas
I love most seafood but do not like oysters. The appearance of them and the texture is revolting. Yet many people seem to think they're marvellous. I also think kangaroo is disgusting too. Plenty fellow Aussies seem to think it's marvellous, but to me it smells and tastes like it's off.

I just completed a Silver survey fro 750 points Anyone else completed a Silver survey?
Chin C
I completed the same survey too tonight. Surprised to see a new colour. Also, my survey list has been spammed by Purple surveys today. All 20 of them, none are accessible - either saying you already attempted the survey or you have been screened out. Yet the surveys won't disappear, just sit there looking pretty.

I had a MIL from hell. Enough said on her. The daughter was much the same, though cut from the same cloth as my Mum used to say. My girlfriend's MIL actually was another. My friend had 2 young boys and all were little surfers (I live in Queensland, Australia). MIL decided they should not have the blonde curls (the hair was not that long, and they looked lovely) and so she buzz cut it all off. I would have never trusted her with my kids again as she knew...
Janet 1621979
In general I have found most In Laws are what you make them. I have seen MIL's that have been very pushy ..... but you just have to set boundries. If your In Laws are doing something you are not happy with - be honest AND TELL THEM (politely). Something like "I appreciate what you are saying ... but these are my kids - my rules". If a MIL is to cut your child's hair without FIRST checking with you - I can assure you she would NOT DO IT TWICE in my house. She would get very cool treatment from me. I do agree that it is often a MIL who is not happy about who her son has chosen..... a very stupid woman I say.

My favorite TV series is 'The Night Stalker' (1974 - 1975). My second favorite TV series is 'The Prisoner' (1967 - 1968). My third favorite TV series is 'The Avengers' starring Honor Blackman (1961 - 1964) - she left the series after the third season. The TV series 'The Avengers' ran from 1961 - 1969!

My whole family were fans of the "Vera" series. I've seen some of them again recently and found them much more "real" than any of the new cop series. Seems just like what has happened to the ABC. They take away more and more of their funding and they can't afford good writers and actors to play them. My brother-in-law still chortles over " Fawlty Towers", and "Life of Brian" endlessly.

"Pluggers" are defined as rural, blue-collar workers who live a typical working-class lifestyle, accompanied by a mentality characteristic of the G.I. and Baby Boomer generations. If you think you are a "Plugger", what is it that you do, that makes you think you qualify?

You know Aussies and Americans have very different ways of saying things. Constantly am I confronted with a word I'd have no way of knowing in which context you are using it in......like Plugger. Lol

I recently was chatting with my neighbours about one in particular who as I write this is merrily out the front of my windows with his little man power tool collection ,including my all time favourite the angle grinder. I have slammed my windows shut twice now but he does not pick up on the fact I may be slightly irritated having ringing ears.. Funny tho ,I can listen to music on loud all day long but he is the first to complain if there's a party next door as they...
mary c
ohhhh so many many noises...except my own loud music haha. Hate people coughing and sneezing these day- not sure why???
Hate hearing my dog swallowing noisily in the night, or noisily licking nethers eww. Hate hate noisy boy racers revving down our street late at night and doing wheelies at the roundabouts. Though i would probably be one of them if i was young and a lad. And there's more...HATE the sounds of those Gunshot firecrackers that people let off..that freak us and our animals out.
Hubby hates the sound of his neighbour howling..yes howling. And the guy who power saws bits of wood for hours in the nearby workshop. He turned up on a sunday once to cut wood- until a certain man in tank chair zoomed over and gesticulated at him to F.O.

Women who have Caesarean births in Scotland go home on the second day of the birth. This is a financial decision, not a medical one. Surely, the care of the mother and child should be paramount. I was concerned when I heard this. Do you think this is going too far in the cost-cutting exercise, potentially putting patients at risk?
Liane H
Absolutely disgraceful. Higher risk of post natal depression and undiagnosed versions of it ...
Why put so much pressure on new mums ? Day 3 is the worst day after birth for the baby blues to set in and milk production to come in properly ,then complications can arise ... that is all just after a natural childbirth!

My problem is that I always forget to eat lunch. I'm not hungry, and I get busy during the day. My meter is happy, though. I googled to see how many meals we should eat each day, and it varies. I've read articles saying we could just eat one big meal each day. I've read articles saying we should eat 6 small meals a day. How many meals do you eat? Do you think eating only breakfast and dinner is a bad thing? Or should we beat eating 5 or 6 times a day. How often do...
Linda Humby
I admit, I have a smoothie nearly every morning for breakfast. I often have a quiche or peanut butter sandwich for lunch, and meat and vegies for dinner, (about 3 x a week) I recently read the Whole meal Bread with Smooth peanut butter, No sugar/salt, actually helps your weight and digestion when eaten before bed. So that's my new favorite bedtime snack. It seems to help. Ive been dieting for 6 months. I lost 25 kgs but am a bit stuck for loosing the last 20-15 kgs. In the last month, Ive gone back up 1 kg...grrr... AnY tips? Im trying to Eat Less and Move More.

We are seriously considering fostering a child. We need to consider many negative and positive aspects. Do you have any insights or advice based on your experience?
Teri 1282723
I've done it. And if you truly love people and want to help someone who isn't old enough to speak up for themselves, I recommend you do it as well. I grew up in a home where my parents nearly always had 1-3 foster children sharing our lives. We learned as children that fosters come and go, but we were able to adopt 2 of the boys. They are my brothers through and through. The girls that I fostered were being abused, both 16 years old. One was being beaten regularly by her mother and stabbed once, the other was being raped by her mother's live-in boyfriend. The time with them was only a few months each but it was enough to let them know there are good people in the world and both changed into good people themselves. One has a lovely family and the other is a veterinary technician. Both are happy:)
I very highly recommend fostering if you honestly feel your heart wanting to help. You don't get much financially, but you get loads in return emotionally. As much as you know they will most likely be leaving your home at some point, each and every one of them stay in your heart forever. You love with all purity of intentions and build them up and show them good in their world. You will make a positive difference for each child.

Ok so they may not have made it to superstardom and won the competition, but some Auditions / performances seem to stick in your memory. Or you may have found one randomly watching other music show clips . Old or new. In fact Dance or other talents ,, magic shows, comedy acts ,,whatever!! Here's one of my favourites. If you invited a friend over for dinner, and you suddenly became ill just an hour before they were to show up, do call them to tell them you suddenly fell ill thinking they may feel you're cancelling because you really don't want them to come, or do you tell them the truth to protect them from catching the illness?

Tell them that whilst you were preparing dinner you tested it for taste and now you feel ill! 🥴

WSP (Wealth, Status ,and Power) or if you prefer (CP) Class and Power is tearing the USA apart. The USA was the last country (for a HAVE country) - too outlaw slavery - and that took a civil war! Democrats tried too undermine the election results in 2016 - Hillary Clinton (which the public does not acknowledge). Republicans are trying to undermine election results in 2020 - President Donald Trump (Trump is not a budding genius...

The problem is you americans are under the delusion that you think your country is the greatest thing on this planet when in fact most of the world generally dislikes your country and what it stands for and finds most of you very irritating and quite honestly I couldnt give a rats arse if your country dissolves into anarchy

How often have we said that someone is "just jealous" when they have offended us in some way. I was a bit shocked one day when one friend told me that another had said this about me after I'd said I didn't think a certain outfit would suit her. I knew she really liked the outfit, but I truly thought she would look better in something more suitable for her weight and shape. I worried over this for some time and concluded that while she has a lot of expensive things that...

Dear Rewardia. It would be extremely nice if I wasn't getting screened out of nearly all surveys. I am genuinely trying to earn points and it feels like I am being blocked from doing so. It is NOT good enough and it is NOT acceptable. Please fix this
PatCat
It depends on things such as, are you working, do you have children under 18, how old are you? It never seems to be a realization that of those who do these surveys, many are at home due to health or age and therefore we can't answer the questions asked.

Ok, so today I heard the story about the 50 year old man who, because he identifies as a 15 year old girl, has been accepted with open arms into a swimming team of girls aged between 13 and 15. And...as if that's not insane enough, this 50 year old man (fully equipped with 50 year old man bits and functioning eyes) is changing in the same change room as his fellow swimmers. So I ask the question...would you be happy to let your young daughter swim and change...

Oooops! Grandpa may be getting over the hill there!
I've heard of MAP (minor attracted person), but it seemed too filthy for my frame of mind to read any further.

Checkout aisle and impulse Items designed to give you another opportunity to purchase. While you are waiting in line, you look over and see some candy or gum. There are also magazines and other items at the checkout. This is a prime spot for stores to sell impulse items. What are your thoughts? How do stores get us to buy more?

Don't get sucked in. It's a mind game. Your mind is the decider in the end, you decide to purchase that on a whim. Then the market wins because they got your money. I never impulse purchase, and It's like ads, I mute ads so I do not buy into that crap
