Self-care is really important during these challenging times. So many people (particularly on social media) are in a constant state of hysteria. But you don't have to get caught up in the fear and negativity. You can choose to be positive and hopeful. I am spending this time looking after my body and mind. I feel great.
lippy loo
I do not dwell on it. I go about my house and do opinion polls, watch a bit of TV, take my dog for a walk, housework, etc. What's different. Never been all that social so I don't miss that. All these people who are treating this virus as nothing though make me angry. It's not a conspiracy, it's nothing to do with 5G, it's not made up, I am from another culture so don't understand, and worse the ones who think they can do what they want. I get angry at the ones who think they are beyond the rules and actually spread the virus to innocent people who have been doing the right thing. We have it here in Queensland again and it looks like it has spread from a few people who thought they could do as they please lying and crossing the border after leaving Victoria. Personally, I feel now as there is plenty of information out there and if people flaunt the rules and people get sick or worse die they should be made accountable with heavy fines, jail and charges of murder in the case of a death linked back to t

Whole Corned beef silverside Water to almost cover beef 2 tsp Brown sugar 1tbsp apple cider vinegar Add silverside to the slow cooker, then add the brown sugar and vinegar Pour over the water until it almost covers the meat cook for 9 hours on LOW 6 hours on HIGH. Serve alongside boiled cauliflower, broccoli and potato. I made a white sauce to go with it and the whole family loved it.

I also cook corned beef silver-side in the slow cooker but cook it in a small bottle of ginger ale just make sure that there is enough ginger ale to cover the meat while cooking. And cook cauliflower and white sauce and mashed potatoes. It is one of my husbands favorite meals. I don't eat meat.

It's soup season ! This one is a bit quicker than lovingly making up and reducing a whole pot of stock and stripping a whole chicken. I've used a secret booster ingredient to add some flavour but you can leave it out if so desired or use a stock cube instead. I was looking up something tonight and thought - What have women invented? I was really surprised at their ingenuity but not surprised that men had taken the praise for some of them. Some things women invented: Windscreen Wipes, Dishwasher, rotary engine, coffee filter, disposable nappies, computer software, Wi-Fi, radioactivity, anti-fungal antibiotic, airplane muffler, Apgar score, glass aquariums, beer, Barbie doll, birth control pill, Bra, Bullet...

Have you ever served on a jury before? I have not, but I know people who have. Some of them even got paid to serve because the trial went longer than expected. Would you like to be on a jury?
gordy
Yes I have, twice. I took it very seriously because you are making a decision on someone else's life/situation. Unfortunately some people were more interested in getting home than making the right choices. I take pride in saying I stuck to my beliefs and acquitted a young man accused of wrongdoing. The judge was pleased with the verdict. I was very proud of the decision and outcome. Not everyone is cut out for this service but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

In French railway stations they have little pedal devices...you sit down pedal away for a little while and recharge your phone/laptop it's free...and popular....why don't we harness ALL of our keep fit equipment...treadmills exercise bikes Gym equipment...you name it...and run all of that wasted energy into the grid where it is needed?...every little helps...

What is your opinion on which martial arts class is best for a 13-year-old? My son wants to sign up for one, but there's so many to choose from. Which is worth to sign up to?

There was a discussion on the radio the other day about kids "wanting" to do various activities, the parents paying for it, and then the kid quickly pulling out again ... sports, dancing, scouts / girl guides, horse riding, etc.
Before paying any full term / year fees (often non-refundable because you're taking up a spot and the classes cannot start again to catch-up a later fill-in), you should find somewhere that either offers pay-per-lesson prices or even gives a free trial. That way you can find out if the kids *really* wants to do it or not before paying out huge piles of money.

Scientists have been studying what goes on psychologically and physically in fathers before and after having children for years. What do you think? What does becoming a father do to men? Do men who become dads change?
BLM
I don't have children. Don't know if men go thru psychologically and physically changes when they become a parent! However, the articles I have read (written by scientists) state that "Gay Parents May Be the Best Parents". Gay parents tend to be more motivated, more committed than heterosexual parents on the average, because gay parents chose to be (come) PARENTS.

Growing your own food can be cheaper and healthier. With the rising cost of produce, many of my family and friends started growing more produce. I myself grow a few things which I find taste better as there is no need for insecticides/chemicals. Have you tried growing your own produce?
LindaB
We moved to a rural property - a year ago tomorrow, actually - and since then I have grown potatoes, kumara (sweet potatoes for those outside NZ), NZ yams, carrots, cauli, broccoli, capsicums, corn, onions (red and brown), spring onions, pumpkins, beans, snowpeas (mange tout), leeks, cabbages (red and savoy), spinach, silverbeet, swede, daikon radish, beetroot, garlic, rhubarb, courgettes (zucchini), several varieties of tomatoes and herbs and attempted eggplant (aubergine) but was unsuccessful with those as I planted them too late in the season. We have also harvested feijoas, lemons, limes, mandarins and peaches from trees that were already established on the property. We also have chickens for eggs. I have made several batches of pasta sauce, tomato relish, peach jam, onion marmalade and feijoa chutney. I also make my own Irish soda bread, naan bread and focaccia. We are loving the flavours of fruit and veges fresh from the garden and are looking to add more gardens so we can grow more produce.

When did publishers think that magazines should have articles printed on coloured backgrounds? These last few years it's been rife. Perhaps they're in cohorts with opticians because its practically impossible to read and may be causing eye problems - dark brown background printed with black writing or pink pages printed with yellow writing. It may look pretty and 'now', but if you can't read it, what's the point of publishing it. Do others have this problem?
Larry S 382961
I find the same thing on some surveys where they have faint words on white background. Black and white is best. Even some pages in the paper are the same.

As a person who doesn't own my own vehicle, this is something I struggle with as I'm job hunting. I notice a lot of companies say: "must have full G license with own vehicle." I see that I'm qualified for the job and can take public transport, but am unable to apply to the job since I don't have a vehicle. Even though I have my G2, I can't afford a vehicle right now. I find it unfortunate that I have to miss out on job opportunities because of this. If certain...

Women who change their surname when they get married are subservient to men. I mean your maiden name is part of your identity. And to just throw it away willy-nilly, I think is disgraceful!

Reason I'm asking is that I saw a post on facebook stating that you can make this much online but it didn't say where. I clicked on the link and it brought me here. I went back to the post and asked the guy how did he make that much on here. Not long afterwards it was gone. Seems he didn't like me questioning him. It would be great to make that much but I haven't made that much since I've been on here. But what I do make is just a bit extra money that can come in handy....
Viola9
In a good month I might get around $90 which is around $3 a day. Looks like the person was trying to get people to sign up with his link so he could earn referral points. That would be why he removed it because Rewardia would be able to track who it was by the referral link.

I feel a bit in disbelief over this.. was just feeling frightened about delta and suddenly things are now going crazy with omicron- how can this be happening? when will it end?
Edward S 497347
Covid-19 is here to stay just like the flu and pnumonia.
There will always be NEW variants of the Covid-19 virus, some more deadlier and some less deadly.
In Australia we are told that Omicron is less deadly, however over in the UK and USA some people have died from Omicron; but we must keep in mind there is only a small percentage of people vaccinated within those countries.
In Australia, in NSW for several weeks they were averaging around 200 to 350 new Covid cases each 24 hour period, suddenly they are getting over 2000 a day, then the day before yesterday they had over 3000 then yesterday close to 4000.
The government is saying that by the end of January 2022 we could be averaging 200,000 a day Australia-wide ( worse than the UK and USA ).
With International borders now open, all state borders now open ( except West Australia ) the Omicron is without no doubt going to spread across Australia like wild fire especially now that NSW and Victoria are not enforcing mask wearing and social distancing and NSW not enforcing use of QR codes and these states refusing to go back into lockdown to get it under control because Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg are more concerned about the economy.
Covid-19 is a virus that continuously changes it's DNA each time it transmits to each person and continues to grow stronger and more contagious. As it changes each time it transmits from person to person, this means that countries that have higher numbers of infections each day are creating NEW strains of the Covid-19 virus.
Every country needs to minimise the spread to minimise or end the risks of new strains being created.
IF this is not done soon then the Covid-19 virus will become so strong that disinfectent and vaccines will NOT protect us and within 20 years the Covid-19 virus will make the human race extinct.
Although the 3rd vaccine booster shot is only providing 30% protection against Omicron, we ALL need to be fully vaccinated to give us at least some protection because Governments around the world are no longer taking steps to control or contain the virus because they are now all more concerned with the economy

The scariest dream I ever had was when I was staying alone at my Nan's house. Nana was being cared for by mum and dad at our house at the time, so it was just me on my own. From home, I had to catch 2 buses each way, whereas from Nan's I could walk to my school. I was staying there for a few weeks whilst I had exams on, so I could study in peace and not worry about being late to exams. I dreamt in extremely vivid detail that someone had broken into the...

Just a bit of fun about the magnificent Rewardian Bingo World that we all mostly have become ridiculously addicted to while enjoying enormous point scores (he he!) Is anyone getting through these new lime surveys? I have done a couple but they are discriminating. They pay well but too bad if we don't work!! VERY unfair in my book.

Just wasted my time on LI-Q7MC5Y worth 1350 points. I spent 30 minutes on it and I was right at 96% of the survey (the progress meter was in full display), and then it told me I was screened out. I hope people are paying attention the survey rewards and NOT doing ones that offer ridiculous rewards for the time spent. This just encourages poor rewards for everybody. I have posted before that the general rule to see if the reward is at least fair is it shoukd equate to around $6 per hour. Yesterday's 30 point bonus for playing Drop and Merge was a rip off. I'm 71 and need a hip replacement, but even I don't have over three hours to spend trying to get an extra 30 points. At one stage I gained 1168 points ( not that far off the leader board and it gave me 2 points! This is just plain ridiculous and I have written and told them so - especially as I stuck it out until I had 31 points and they didn't credit me with the bonus today! First time I've commented on here but that is just plain ridiculous. Like recently when they offered 300 points if you gained 1000 points on Blue surveys in a 36m hour period and there were NONE.

We all know how tornados form, but why exactly? In my opinion ever since climate change happened a lot of stuff is now happening, but tornados has gone down a lot what I mean by that is not many tornados are being seen well in most area's they're not being seen as much why?

It's like everything else in nature, it changes. Some years we have lots of snow or frosty mornings. Some years we have lots of rain. Years of droughts and years of floods. Look back at history and you'll see Egypt had droughts then floods. It's just a natural cycle. However, when it comes to damage that is purely due to population. We have always had hail storms. I have photo's of me as a child holding huge hail stones, but back then there wasn't much damage. About 6 years ago a hail storm went through and our house fared pretty well but a new suburb that had just popped up and had 4 houses per quarter acre instead of 1 copped it badly. All you could see was blue tarps over roofs, and they were there for months with not enough tradesman and insurance companies trying to assess the damage. The storm was no worse than usual but there were far more homes than previously.

I have a very large backyard pool with all the required fencing and surrounds. The pool inspector visited our house, and it did not pass inspection because of a spindly, scraggy shrub outside the fence the first time that inspection cost $350, the final inspection we passed another $200 paid. We also replaced one fence that was deemed pool safe a few years ago, but is now longer deemed safe. We will have to pay to have the pool inspected all over again in 3 years time...

Embarrasing..i was rushing to get a workvisit kit and left the Hospital car with the brake off- came back and it had rolled into a handrail. ThankGod it didn't hit anyone. Also left handbrake off when rushing our newborn pups into vets for checkup. Dented car and didn't want to tell hubby and managed to sneak it to panelbeaters and get it back next day fixed without him knowing. Er there's been a few other handbrake incidents too. The speed limits in Australia are far too draconian, if you stick to the mandatory speed limits when overtaking you would stand a good chance of being killed or involved in a head-on collision. Australians are not taught how to overtake and the law as it stands does not permit safe overtaking, if you overtake a lorry or a car that speeds up, and you have to exceed the speed limit you can and will be done for speeding, it appears the Police have no discretion or prefer to not use...

While music changed radically in the 1960's, the need to have funny lyrics and songs survived and thrived...aside from funny bands like the Bonzos and the Scaffold...bands from the Beatles to Madness to Ian Dury...all managed to write funny songs...why does everyone take themselves so seriously nowadays?...what ever happened to fun?
lippy loo
All these rap songs are so hard to understand or full of anger or foul language. Some may like it but who remembers any of these so called songs. Many of the 60's music is still played everywhere these days. Some are classics. There are a few songs these days which are good but it seems a lot are sung with nasally whiney voices and again hard to understand. If it is not sung in this fashion then we have to put up with women dressed skimpily and gyrating across the screens. I do not think there is much talent being shown

I've never won anything big but I was grateful for small wins which came along when I could really use it. I know one person who won a large amount, she thought her own crap didn't smell. I'm the luckiest woman anyway, three grown kids and two beautiful grandkids. Survived breast cancer.

Does anyone else feel as though time is speeding up? Or is it just my mother and I, who feel this way? It just seems like, one minute it's Monday, and, what seems like only 5 minutes later, it's Friday. (Well, maybe a little longer, but you get the drift). Love to hear your thoughts, on this one.

it is our perception of time that changes. you feel time is "flying by" as you get older. go back to your early years, ie about 6 to 10 years of age. your birthday, christmas, school holidays, easter, they all seemed to take forever to get there. it is all your age perception. ask a person in a convalescent home who lay in bed all day, bet their time goes very slowly

Some people believe we should be teaching our kids more worthwhile life lessons like how to cook, sew, mend or even drive. Instead of making it too academically focused. What do you think?
Anneliese
Ha no. I remember doing all those life skills at school, but it still didn't compromise on other subjects. The amount of teens and adults I've worked with in recent years who can't do basic maths in their heads to work out the correct change to give was beyond shocking. I see that as (what should be) primary school level. I think that needs to be addressed. Also all the short hand texting is not helping with spelling and grammar.

Iv been stood up by a kangaroo and that’s an experience and a half.
Held a tarantula, kept a kookaburra and reptiles as pets.
I’d like to travel and see snow, but I love Australia to pieces and will always call it my home

If you saw a fellow worker doing something wrong and breaking the rules, would you tell on that person? Not something like taking a pencil, but gross negligence of the rules we ALL have to follow.
Bex
I worked in a Nursing Home, where I witnessed an AIN pushing over a resident, calling him a stupid old man. I went straight to the Deputy to report it. She told me that I should be nice to this girl, because she was having a hard time at home. I was absolutely shocked that this could not only happen, but there were zero repercussions for someone who was supposed to be giving care to the frail, elderly residents.

Does anyone notice weather changes in air pressure affecting their joints, aches and pains? A physio said there is anecdotal evidence people with certain conditions appear to act like a barometer. I know I have predicted rain when it was not on the radar.
The dog house
During cold weather my knees ache. Rarely both and walking is painful. I usually put on the stretch supports and this helps. Yet this cold weather my knees are fine. I have had one dry eye for a year now. I have tried many drops. Just recently I tried another more intensive drops recommended by the Pharmacist. I thought this is great my first night went very well. Next night I awoke with the same problem. Not as bad but who knows tonight. It is horrible when the whole eyelid sticks to the whole eye ball. Scary especially when it impairs your vision. Getting old is not pleasant.

I've always felt sorry for smokers, they are demonised by everyone. Yet governments don't mind taking revenue from tobacco tax. What a pity smokers can't be treated like human beings instead of pieces of garbage.
Sandra C 12043
Now they are going to ban Vapes which are giving people the chance to come off cigarettes to vapes. I was a smoker for many years and thanks to Vapes I have weaned myself off nicotine after only 3 years of vaping.
I still vape but use no nicotine in the liquid.

I don't think that people are too different between all the various states in Australia...and I think that this applies in the USA as well. I don't understand why Queenslanders cannot buy alcohol in a supermarket ... or why Victorians can buy certain drugs in theirs ... is driving at 110 only the best speed in certain states..and in others it is set at 100?.....there is really very little difference between us...it IS just one country...why can't we just have one...
Hohum
Haha, it's simple really, It depends how much revenue the various states need. For example, if not enough people break the speed limit at 110 then reduce it to 100 etc.

Live TV at one point dictated what we did and when...being able to record it... loosened that hold...but now...even the channels store their own content...and streaming from other sources makes live TV increasingly meaningless...it was seldom ever live in the first place...and you can get better live news elsewhere anyway...and earlier...is there any point in it being there anymore?...who watches it?
Maria B 89860
How can something "LIve" be dead? When we first got our TV, in the olden days, mainly used it for entertainment ie watching the flicks. It is not a member of our family like pets are. It is our servant to meet are needs which is not as luxurious as some. hank goodness for free to air it still serves us well.

So before having a child I have seen mothers clubbing etc. Fathers doing same. After baby, mother compromise and stay home to look after but fathers continue with same life. Why is that the case and what can change that.
Lachelle B
We both worked til I decided to chuck in my job because I was sick of daycare spending more time with the kids than us. I was also earning more as a labourer than my partner in the foundry. I never wanted a night out clubbing and he stopped going to his Friday nights out with the boys after work. It wasn't about us anymore but our boys so our social lives were irrelevant. And he may wear the pants in the house but I'm the one that buys them! Lol!

Politicians seem to be very much influenced by Big Corporation's these days. It's known that some have lobby groups that meddle in the politics of the major politicial party's. Issues such as climate change, LGBTQI Environment, Farming, Migration, Employment, Multi-Nationals, etc. It seems the ordinary person, rarely gets a look in, listened too. A lot of my neighbors, here in the States, have "Ring" doorbells installed. Or, another type of technology to replace their "doorbells". Another thing, many have so many gadgets, from speakers to their light fixtures being operated through the internet. It s like a spy organization cinematic plot, from earpieces to hidden cameras on one's bow tie. It's incredible, yet very impersonal. What are your thoughts on these Technological Devices?
JoeB
It can be good for your security but it can also be highly invasive. Care needs to be taken with your liberty. On a lighter side one time when we were in a holiday home my friends wife was on dinner duty when the power failed and the stove went off, she said bugger and just put it in the microwave....AND??? Lol.... I laughed so much she biffed a sausage at me. Too much reliance on modern technology can be hazardous...lol

Do you think that the title mum or dad is something that needs to be earned? Just because you have a kid that is biologically yours doesn't mean you deserve to be called a mum or a dad?! I believe that those titles need to be earned. And you are only a mum or a dad if you step up and are actually involved in your childs life all the time. Not just when it is convenient to you or when you can be bothered to be a parent!
Dada WA
does that same rational go for kids. If you have 2 kids and one is a doctor and the other is a dole bludger on drugs. Does that child no longer deserve to be called your child?

Do you use Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or, even Google Pay? What about PayPal or other online banks? Do you feel they are safe? Will Cash be a thing of the past, like bartering? Rarely used and rarely accepted? What are your thoughts on this change that seems to be inevitable?
Maria B 89860
I can remember the feeling of satisfaction when we used to get paid in cash, kept a little for expenses, train or bus fares lunch money and paid board and the rest got put in the bank and it stayed in the bank. None of this direct deposit and losing track of how much gets withdrawn bit by bit for all and sundry to track where you spent what.
I only use PayPal to receive survey payments and am quick to transfer it to a real bricks and mortar bank account. Don't like the way the banking system is heading with all the online no face to face person contact ... not knowing who of what purpose your money is being used as it accumulates a pitance in interest.

Should all children care be free for working parents. A lots of peoples pay a lots of money to put a child in day care. Some country give free or less money. Austria almost all day care needed are free. In some others country children have better place for child to go children care. So what do you think and why.
Lones
Stay home with your children, live within your means. If we didn’t try to keep up with joneses, appreciated the way our parents bought us up and appreciated that time that you miss from putting your children in care. Before you know it they are gone and you’re an empty nester. Why have children if you’re not going to nurture, and spend those precious years with them

Why are so many people rude to supermarket staff. We are human too we have good days and bad days. We have things going on outside of work that we worry / stress about. It's not our fault something isn't in stock or has run out. We have zero control over what the company we work for does!
Fortuna
It's what I call the 'kicking the dog' principle. If they are having a bad day, they'll take it out on whoever is nearby. I didn't work retail, but I worked a job as a cleaner during day hours. I encountered a lot of rude, nasty people. Just consider the source.

Whatever happened to cars being sold either new or used with a spare tire in the boot? What is a driver supposed to do if they get a flat tire when on a long trip? Are we all supposed to pay and have someone waste their time to fix the tire. If this is what is expected of drivers today, then why have a wheel brace and a jack in the boot for the sole purpose of changing a tire!
Pato Lo Duck
Just a thought, how many of you regularly check the air pressure in your spare tyre. A flat spare is the same as no spare..!!

Have you seen how big strawberries are now? They look like they're on steroids. Fruit is seasonal, it's not meant to be eaten all the year around. All these preservatives and crap they throw into our foods is what is causing our food intolerance and gut issues
Neo
Food is tastiest when in season (that is why there are seasons). Preserving was invented so we could have fruit and vegetables out of season/stock up for winter/not waste a good growing season.
I believe lots of gut issues and intolerances go further back than just today's preservatives. Best health information is, and always has been "eat everything in moderation". Unfortunately, when women are pregnant, they are told by "experts" not to eat this or that while they are pregnant and this is the first stop to helping the eliminated food become recognised as an allergen to the immune system of the forming foetus. These people then "breast feed" for the best of their child but still eliminate these foods for health reasons so, by the time the food is introduced to the child, the child's natural immune response is "this should not be in my body and needs to be attacked" (allergic reaction)

Since yesterday, there is a new and improved Survey Center on Rewardia This upgraded version has a few features, introducing: - Ranking system from 1 to 5 stars - Tool "Sort" were you can organize surveys by Type, Rank, Points and Time - Surveys History - Members can claim missing points directly from the Center, using section "Not Completed" at My Surveys History What do you think about this new Survey Center?

It’s OK but what they really need to work on is removing surveys that have been completed or disqualified

The cost of living has really impacted hard on so many families as we head into Christmas In my small family we are only spending money on gifts for children and have done so for a couple of years. Do you still buy gifts for adults or only children?

I don't have a child or children. I don't give gifts to a child or children on Christmas Day (which is a pagan holiday). I was raised an agnostic and became an atheist. Vacations can be a chance to take a break from, not just work, but typical food routines, too. That can lead to weight gain, but it's probably water weight, not fat, a dietitian said. Weight gained after a vacation is nothing to stress about and is completely normal. What would you say? Is it normal to gain 2kg on holiday?

We have private rooms for private messaging via Google.... people's pictures can be put up via their avatars and now added to things like their recipes and discussions or polls .
These can either be personal photographs or taken from another social media source like pinterest or facebook or instagram ..all of which constitutes copying and pasting / sharing posts / uploading from one social media site to another ! We can like or comment on eachother's forum posts in the chats otherwise known as a thread ... Keeping safe online here is still very much warranted as are the rules for using other social media sites. Yes we have limitations here ,but there is live chat in the bingo room and the ability to share video clips from media sites along with putting up with a multitude of annoying advertising , people's mad misinformation and some trolls even .. yep I would most definitely call this a social media website ;)

What has gone wrong with the young males of today. Another school embroiled in young men taking the faces/head photos of social media and doing an AI attachment of a nude body to them and posting so many on line. Where has their common decency gone. Lack of respect towards girls and women has become endemic in recent years. WHY......? Are parents, schools, older generations not teaching them? Are they just brats who think they are cute or funny? Have men...

We have been able to do this with photos (without AI) for over 30 years...anybody who is skilled can do this in Photoshop...so what has changed recently?....little girls now spend hours photographing themselves.. pouting and vamping it up...with their new phones and post them all over the internet...and little boys have easy access to to these..and pornography....and also now have software that makes attaching heads to bodies so easy that every moron can do this to a reasonable level....what's changed?...technology...that's all...if you don't want your head attached to a naked body stop posting it everywhere... in multiple views. different lighting and angles.. online....easy to use.....you know it can happen...just wake up and pay attention....if they made the software illegal it would stop immediately...

If you take a look back in history, carrying a few extra pounds was a sign of wealth because rich people were the only ones that could afford fattening food. Fast forward to 2020 and junk food is cheaper than healthy food and poor people are fatter than rich people. One would assume if we were to raise the price of junk food exponentially. Our health would improve. Thoughts?

no, i limit my intake a lot now, sick of everything going up. Also sick of do gooders raising prices of fuel, power, water, cigarettes, alcohol because its better for me or the planet.
But if it make you feel better about your intake, roll your next burger up in a tight ball, and stick it up your bum!
