The way I see it is that every car should have a camera with the footage uploaded directly to the police dept, and every time you or somebody else breaks a road rule a $10 fine is leaved. Pretty soon, no one would have any money left to buy fuel and the roundabout problem would be solved.

Roundabouts are supposed to keep the traffic moving. They are not Give Ways unless there is a vehicle approaching that is too close for you to go. If the roundabout is big enough, a car from every entry should go all at the same time but people are too scared to use them correctly.

It would be useful in case of accidents. The roundabouts we have here are a lot smaller than the one pictured. It would not be possible to speed or you would end up on someone's yard.

Yes, so long as they can also catch the number plates of Motorcyclists who speed through them. Some of these riders get away with outrageous speeding simply because they know that even if there is a Red Light or Speed Camera operating they cannot get caught as their number plates are unable to be seen by the cameras.

It's not the roundabouts that are dangerous, it's the drivers. If in doubt how to use them there is plenty of literature on the rules, There are no excuses for not knowing ALL road rules.

For multi laned roundabouts maybe a good idea as some people just do not know how to use them properly at the best of times. We live in the country so I am actually glad we really don't have any to go through. They are scary at times that is for sure.

We should have cameras at most places where we have roundabouts. The reason we don't is because cameras are hugely expensive, roundabouts are the lazy governments way out plonking a circle of concrete in the middle of a crossing costs much less than a camera!

Don't know how this would work. Some of the big round about with multiple lanes of merging traffic from large arterial roads. Speed cameras don't deter speeders. Bad or inconsiderate will never change, but it might pay for people who have had accidents,or some if our taxes.

Pretty much every other car has dash cams where i live (I personally don't) and dash cams are actually recommended (by our local police among other people/places) if you wish to have proof of accidents and who is/was at fault. As for safety cameras at round abouts, it would come down to cost. Who pays for them to be installed, maintained? How do you access the footage if an accident occurs?

I wonder? Would it require four? Or a camera pointed at each entry point? I'm not sure how one camera could cover the entire roundabout and I'm not sure how multiple cameras could show the correct sequence of arrival or entry.

I think people should really learn how to use roundabouts. I am always astounded by people who have no idea who has right of way (I have seen people who have right of way but wait and wait and wait giving way to everyone and not moving until there is absolutely nobody in the roundabout and I have also seen people who think they are so entitled that they have automatic right of way wherever they are). Are people just not taught how to use roundabouts or they are just stupid? Using roundabouts incorrectly is rife amongst all age groups.
