Do you miss hard copy catalogues?
Chin CMay 14, 22
Since Christmas, I no longer received a hard copy of Woolworths catalogue in my letterbox. Whilst I agree with the environmental benefits of not wasting papers, I do miss seeing the hard copy. I know I can go online to look at the weekly specials, like what I have done with Coles for the last 12 months, I find that I actually stopped going to both supermarkets. In the past, the specials in the catalogue would be the main factor for me deciding which supermarket to visit for that week. Now it's out of sight, out of mind. I tend to just go to my greengrocer to buy fruit and vegetables. I only search the online catalogue when I am low in some supplies and checking to see if they are on special. Anyone else feels the same as me?

  • Big deal! I still get my Woolworths one but don't shop there. Save paper and look online. Many things are now online so why not food catalogues. Why make such a big deal over nothing. Are people getting so lazy that they can't be bothered looking online? I get catalogues and they are annoying at times. You can often see the specials listed when you go to the big supermarkets too, if you look hard enough.

    • I think is is a good thing but I am not comfortably letting my catalogs go. They are beautiful works that I miss. They are also stacks of paper that had to be regularly thrown out and so it is for they greater good that I let them go. ??

      • no, no need for them anymore, we now have inside plumbing ;-))

        • In my area there have been no paper catalogue deliveries for over ten years. I miss them and intensely dislike trying to use the electronic variety.

            • I don't have a letterbox so have not had paper catalogues for over 10 years. I check out the online catalogue for both Coles & Woolies and make up my shopping list and on the day I do go shopping I go to both Coles & Woolies, but also Aldi. I have particular items I prefer from each and they are all very convenient for me to get to from my home. I don't have to shop every week but if there is an item that is on sale that I would normally buy in my regular shop I will go and stock up on it.

              • Surprisingly I don't miss hard copy catalogues!
                ·
                • Nope...I end up having to pick up mine and other neighbours on windy days.I like checking store prices online but Coles is useless unless you are buying online. Either way is pretty useless these days due to product shortages. I got an email from Woolies the other day and went straight down to buy cat food...nope not only did they not have any variety of the brand advertised, they had only a few cans of other brands...empty shelves and wasted petrol once again!

                  • I'm still getting them, so don't have your problems.

                    • I really dont care, I dont waste time with specials I get most of my food in season a local market, grocer, Cant remember the last time I walked into coles or woolies.... to big, too much rubbish and crap. too expensive, and I love walking but I take umbrage having to walk 5 miles around a smarket to get an item, cause they keep moving them. and Yeh gads, who need 50 variety of cereal....

                      • Yes, I miss them. Like you, they helped me decide where I wanted to shop.

                        • Yes that was my weekend reading
                          ·
                          • I have no junk mail on my mailbox as I cannot stand all the catalogues that used to block it up so no I do not miss them at all. I do get emails with the specials and I sometimes do a quick check but even these are now becoming too much and filling up my email box. Simple solution is to have the specials on a board out the front of their stores.

                            • YES! Paper/physical copies are so much better. You can keep them around as long as you want, earmark pages you like, and it's easier to go back and forth. Online isn't the same. Environmental bs is just that: bs. Paper is recyclable and technology is made from plastic and fossil fuels anyway.
