Invisible art
Alba 1449837Feb 16, 24
Did you know in 2021 an italian ''artist'' sold an invisible statue for 15,000 euros? As you heard. The piece was literally a square of american tape stuck in the floor to remark the place where the statue was. But this is not the first time that this man did this. And he is planning to put seven invisible statues of his own all around the world cities. What do you think about this? Is this art? Is art really just a concept? You can sell a concept? Is this a real artist to you, or just a scammer?

  • Anything for a buck. The Emperor's New Clothes was an important book growing up.

    • In reality there is no answer to this

      • Art (even invisible art) is in the eyes of the beholder just like beauty (even porn) is in the eyes of beholder - it just stretches the limits of your imagination (with monetary cost just not being a factor in the equation)!!

        • Could be a real artist
          ·
          • its dumb and people that pay that much are bored and dumb. Just give your money to someoen who actually needs it

            • He's just being a shrewd businessman. He knows there's people out there with more money than intelligence and will spend it on anything, just to show other people that they can throw money away while so many others can't. It's an ego trip, so who can blame the artist for taking advantage of people like that?

              • It's a bit like some of those dudes and duedies... on tick tock. Pretending to be talented. Some might be tho.

                • That's definitely not art. It's a scammer & people are ridiculously stupid to pat for it! Like "The Emperor's New Clothes".

                  • Well, maybe we should all pretend we are artistic and put up the highest bidder for our showings. Mmm. Cheap way to make money.🎉
                    ·
                    • No. That's not art. And most ART, or so called ART today, is rubbish. If people are foolish to waste 15000 euros on a piece of nothing, then I really wonder about their state of mind. Haha.

                      • not my idea of art.

                        • In 2019 an Italian artist taped a banana to a Miami beach museum wall with duct tape and named the piece " the comedian" . That sold for $120,000. Someone came along later and ate it. Then retaped the peel to the wall,, stranger things ...

                          • He is on a good wicket as the saying goes. People are so gullible to think that something is actually there that they pay for it or is it the idea of it all. Who knows who cares. It is not art. Art is something visual, art in something that lasts hopefully.
