With the hike in petrol, electricity, gas, interest rates, water, grocery prices, where is there any money left to celebrate anything. No Christmas this year. It will be left overs and a movie on tv. Maybe next year will be better.

Can someone please tell me what the big deal is about Christmas? It was the birth of a baby that should have been a king but he was rejected. At the time of his birth he had done nothing, knew no-one and had 33 years to prove what kind of person he was. At the time of his death he had proved faithful to his father, he showed us how to attain eternal life and preached love. His birth does not need to be celebrated, in fact we are told the day of your death is far more important because when you die people know the kind of person you were. Most people don't go to church these days, they don't even believe in God preferring to believe in the theory of evolution yet they celebrate the birth of someone they don't believe even lived. So what is being celebrated? Is it the birth of the son of the universal sovereign and his future kingdom where he will rule as king, or is it just about feeling good? If it's only about feeling good you can do that any old day any time you like. In case you haven't guessed, I don't celebrate Christmas.

I prefer to go out dancing somewhere with friends.

I am as ready as I can be, but still a lot of stress to go, travel for me is difficult and have to travel.

OK, there was a pageant early in November I think because it clashed with a football match or something and I think Christmas was usurped by Black Friday or Black November' sales, but Christmas???

Yes am soooo ready. Had all my gifts wrapped and ready 2 weeks ago. Have made 4 lots of rum balls of which some have been gifts. Now am all packed ready to go tomorrow to my sons, can't wait.

What ever happened to the "Christ" in Christmas? Every year I get more and more disappointed that the major Christian celebration of the year is becoming more and more "International Greed Day." Yes, exchanging gifts is pretty special if given in the tradition of love and caring, not "I want" or "so and so" bought me something so I have to return the gesture. Am I ready for the celebration? Yes. Celebrating peace, joy and love is always an occasion to be ready for.

I don't celebrate the holiday myself. I know my brothers are running around to find the "perfect gift"! It's actually kind of relaxing not being involved in all the hub bub! 😀

My husband & I are spending Christmas with my daughter & family so there is not much or me to do. My bit of buying things is all completed so nothing to do until the day when the family will all get together.

The main thing to remember is that Christ is no longer a baby, in fact he is the only begotten of God, and the means by which we can be saved. I am going to a Bible school this Christmas, and thanking God that he has promised a future kingdom where there will be blessings for all.

It's always just the 2 of us on Christmas day but have the menu sorted. I have no kids and he has done his ones so we are good to go! Looking forward to a day with a glass in my hand!

Done and dusted. Pressies ordered on line and arrived safetly and appreciated. Purchased a BBQ chook, in freezer, roasted beef and pork, cut up and frozen into portions, all ready to take out and use over Xmas period. No mess or fuss.

Not really, :( I found out yesterday after my secondment is finished I do not have a job to go back to...my boss shafted me. I will classed as 'unattached' and can be put anywhere at the level I am at now. So yer do not feel Xmas at all :( Don't want to even hav it *sighs*

Christmas now is TOO commercialized. On TV ads all you get is BUY THIS or this. Same as newspapers. Full of stuff the stores want to sell. My grandmother when she was alive said “ all I want is matches to light the gas stove to make a cuppa”. I don’t get sucked in by it all and just go about my life as I want

It's sad to say a lot of people have forgotten what Christmas is all about, it seems it's about how much money can be spent on gifts and food etc. I have bought a cricket bat and ball, a Badmington set, and a hover ball so we can play games with the kids by having some fun and laughter, we will have a BBQ to, I can't wait. There's not really anything to do. Since I won't be seeing family, I've sent them money to buy the gifts for my Grandchildren and Great Grandchild plus themselves. We just moved home and it is very hectic. All is coming together and last night I wrapped up the Xmas presents.

We don't really bother with Christmas anyway - it's just another day, same as all the rest. Unless you have little kids, it's really just an excuse for retailers to have yet another "sale" (with prices no different to last week) - PB Tech here in New Zealand has already been advertising their Boxing Day, 26 December!

Did most of my shopping online because the kids/grandkids live in another state! I have a 88 year old friend who still bakes cookies, candy and other treats for at least 20 people every year!

The rest of the year, we treat everyone like crap - how many wars going on now, violence most of the time - which we readily accept.
