We do not drink and don't like going out on New Year's Eve either. We live in a large city and there are too many unfortunate happenings on that night. Lucky for us, we have many Hispanic families in our area, and they bring beautiful fireworks up from Mexico. All we had to do was step out our front door and we were surrounded on all sides with aerial fireworks. Family came over and we ate our traditional Mexican food dinner together, watched some TV and some fireworks and spent the rest of the night consoling our 100 lb. Rottweiler who has PTSD and is scared to death of the fireworks noises.

On New Year's Eve I cooked fresh salmon with asparagus and made a salad with Jumbo shrimps and cherry tomatoes iceberg lettuce mushrooms, and avocado and onions with homemade vinegarette salad dressing. for dessert double chocolate fudge ice cream, OOPS! don't tell nobody I'm supposed to be on a diet. Happy New Year everybody.

I did not even realise the time and - it has now come and gone. 1 point.

Stayed home watching South Park with hubby, now watching RAGE. Didn't bother about the fireworks.

How about not drink? Can have a great time without that liquid courage. Besides, I thought Aussies and Kiwi's didn't use substances much. As for drinking, I thought that lush pool was for the Irishman to swim in. Educate me, because I've never ventured further than 500 miles from the SW USA in all my half of life, we'll say. Don't like to be away from home. Home is safe and love and security, besides criminals, and I've never desired to travel or leave the States except when I served a mission for The LDS Church as a late teenager, in Australia. But we taught the Gospel, not toured the the land and cities. We were there to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and brought 68 people into the Gospel as a result of our examples and lessons of the Restoration of Jesus Christ's Church of Latter Day Saints. To see the joy of people finding peace and answers they've looked for all their lives was a feeling that can't be described. And that was just in a year and a half in Brisbane. I imagine all the other hundreds of missionaries and the wonderful new members that came into the fold as a result of all those missionaries over all these years. That's a lot of converts, but some Aussie ways, like the drinking and other substance use (actually use all over the world), just is not something I will ever think of as a celebratory action.
