Huge Windfalls
Vicki SJan 16, 23
We've all heard stories where winners of huge amounts of money say it changed their lives for the worse, or they managed their newfound wealth poorly and now have nothing left. If you were to win a huge sum, what would you do with it and what steps might you take to avoid the same fate?

family, school, poor people, and charities in that order. But before you give it charities, make sure the administrations do not spend the money on themselves

I would move onto a cruise ship and spend what is left of my life cruising the world! I'd shout various family & friends short trips to join me.

I would hire a financial advisor to help me manage my money. I would pay bills, save parts, spend some of it and use the financial advisor to help me learn how to invest part of my money to so I can flip my money to continue earning money. That the mistake alot of lottery winner make they quit their job and spend all their money. They think it always be there, but when money gone they are broke and lose it all.

Interesting answers here to the question. To be honest I did come into a bit of money twice, It was stolen mostly the first time and the second time I sorta did good. I paid bills and such. Now if it happens again (not likely) I would pray and say thanks and then find a financial advisor and go from there.

I would make sure my children and grandchildren had a nice home. I would set up accounts for them.

If I had a huge windfall, I would buy a family home. I would set up a high interest bank accounts for the children. Try to live as we do now with the opportunity to travel now and then. It certainly would be hard not to go overboard with spending and giving away money, as I have done in my past.

If I ever win anything, I'd invest it, maybe buy a horse farm (love horses), but nothing extravagant. I sure wouldn't buy three or four fancy homes, fancy cars, or fancy whatevers. I'd think about it first..

I would first share with my family, close friends, and my church. I would keep some for travel and give much to local charities.

after titheing, a little splurge then bank the bulk of amount, with hopefully good interest rate, then decide who to tell, and what to do with it.

I would go crazy. I get giddy when I have $300 in the bank. If I won a fortune I would be riding naked down the street on a giraffe swinging a bag of raccoons. “Cut that man’s head off. Now see in back on, only backwards”.

Most people can't cope with large sums of money, I would set up my children and grandchildren. they range in age from 10 to 52. Any thong left over my wife and I would spend on trips and anything we wanted

Tell no one except my financial advisor. Then pay off my mortgage and any other large bills. Buy a new condo and a new car and put the rest away for retirement.

It would be easy to let it ruin your life by swimming in material goods, lavish holidays, expensive spa treatments, cars yachts ,private jet to a private island... after you've helped out all your friends and family. Yep bring it on ! They print more money every day ....

I would open a reality rehab. People need to be lifted up and encouraged to do the right thing and make their family important. I would make addiction a main part of treatment., help get training and jobs so they are encouraged to continue.

Firstly pay off my mortgage and give this townhouse to my son. Pay off my other sons mortgage and then buy myself a brand new place with all the mod cons. and a beautiful view. Depending on how many millions I win I would also help my niece out too and pay off her mortgage. Give the young ones a good boost. Again, I would help someone who is a battler and life has been hard on them through no fault of theirs. If any other money left over I would travel and put some money aside so I would never have to worry about how I am going to pay another bill. AH BUT TO DREAM ......
