Inspiration from Cooking shows. What is your favourite recipe?
Elizabeth H 165879Jul 03, 24
I love watching cooking shows like Master Chef on TV, cooks from all over the world on YouTube and chefs on Facebook. I regularly am trying out new recipes, which fortunately are usually a success. My husband is very appreciative of my efforts. I especially enjoy trying out a variety of vegetarian dishes. What is your favourite recipe you would like to share?

All those cooking shows making things that I probably wouldn't eat. There's nothing better than the family recipe box. Here is a simple little sauce that will make baked beans special. 1/2 c. brown sugar , 1 TB mustard, 1/2 c. ketchup ,1 t worcheshire sauce and some minced onion. Add this to a large can of Bush's Original baked beans. Next, try 1 8 oz can tomato sauce, 1/2 c. ketchup, 2 T. sugar, 2 T vinegar and 1 t. worcheshire sauce. Add this to fried hamburger to make delicious Sloppy Joes. Enjoy!

I watch MasterChef due to the culture they embrace.

I don't watch cooking shows as I hate to cook. I do it out of necessity.

I like watching cooking shows but I'm not a fan of anything too complicated to cook or bake. Also, can't afford too many ingredients just for one dish.

I did love watching MKR until it became more about different personalities and dramas rather than about the cooking. I have occasionally watched Master Chef. I read recipes and try them out. Most of them are not not to my liking, so I usually only cook it once. It doesn't matter if it is vegetarian or not. I like to try different recipes.

We don't watch most of them, the recipes are too complicated. A couple of tablespoons of sweet paprika in the spag bol gives it a sweet, smokey flavour and smell

The last food-related show I had the liberty to watch and enjoy was "Restaurants at the end of the World". Often, I source my recipes from cookbooks. One specific recipe I'd like to share is called Creamy Chickpea Pot Pie Soup from Dustin Harder's Epic Vegan book. Ingredients: celery ribs, chickpeas, carrots, onion, garlic, olive oil, cashews, corn, peas

Hate the cooking shows when it comes to using olive oil almost makes me vomit .Use to watch a lady on tv when I was young and she would have her apron on and cook meals with every day pantry items and very simple methods just loved that someone measured every thing for her .

At my age simpler is best. Hubby is not very impressed with exotica in his meals. If all else pales, he's delighted with Spaghetti Bol. I just like plain grilled or fried meat and on our budget it's usually 2/3rds vegetables mainly picked from our garden and chops, meatballs or pork schnitzels for the meat with a hearty tomato sauce or a red wine sauce if we are having steak.

I hate cooking and do it because I have to. When my family were young I would spend one day making cakes and at the ned of the day I'd have a sink full of dirty pots and pans then everything would be eaten so there was nothing to show how I had spent my time. I gave up making cakes a few years ago as they went mouldy because the 2 of us weren't able to eat all of it so it's easier to buy something and now the simpler the better. However, I do enjoy cooking in my slow cooker. I'd had a few but when I saw the one by Sunbeam that sears as well as slow cooks I bought it because there is one less thing to wash up.

The Diet Chef is really good, there are many others on the Internet. I cook mainly vegetarian dishes, soups, sautéed or baked veggies, not always following a recipe 100%. Favourite recipe: easy, quick and tasty.

I used to watch Good chef Bad chef. If you haven't watched it,then you may need to stream, unsure if it's still current. A well know chef and a nutritionist cook with the same ingredients to make healthy and also more indulgent meals. Love it. I like cooking healthy, and always try to keep to that. But sometimes I like to add some ingredients to add richness and more flavour or make something as a treat. Easy to follow, anybody can replicate majority of recipes. Also a fan of Naked chef and follow on shows. My eldest son and I saw him at a show he did in Melbourne many, many years ago. Fantastic.

I don't watch Master Chef although I do like The Chef and The Cook. I remember doing a chocolate omelette, I only ever cooked it once. I found it too sickly. We have rather simple tastes and we both enjoy cooking. I do a lot of the prep and hubby cooks. Now that it is winter a casserole or a soup goes down very well and so simple to do.

Basically, I cut my calorie intake to 1200 a day, but it would depend on your size (I'm 5'2" and was eating 1500 a day), I drink fluid (not plain water) about every 2 hours (8am, 10am, noon, and so on, until 10pm), and I do intermittent fasting. That's 16 hours with no solid food. So, I eat breakfast at 11am and dinner by 7pm. I used to work swing shift, and I'm still on that schedule! I go from 7pm to 11am without eating, BUT, I DO drink fluids. My choice is green tea, coffee, or lemonade made with Real Lemon bottled juice. There are other things I do, like eat hot sauce daily, dill pickles and put cinnamon on my cereal but, if you can cut calories, drink fluids and fast 16 hours, you, too, can do it! I weighed 180, and now I weigh 135 and am maintaining it! I averaged 1 pound a week, but consistently, and it took me about 10 months, but it's worth it. Now I eat whatever I want, weigh myself once a week, and cut back if I gain a pound or two, and back down I go! Try it! YOU CAN DO IT! I wish you well! ;-D

I start each day with 8 ounces of ice water, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 packet of artificial sweetener! Before Anything else! I lost 5 pounds the first week I incorporated lemon juice into my diet. Sorry ;-o

I didn't think I'd do any good, so I was pleasantly surprised when the pounds slowly started coming off! I had a lot of bad "belly fat" that's gone now. Of course, I eat the same breakfast and lunch daily, so I only had to account for meals in the evening. Fluids, Fasting and Following Through will work. It was harder at first, but gets easier as results are seen. ;-D Please keep me updated on how you're doing! Remember, loosing slowly is better than a quick fix, and you won't gain it all back. My journey ended February 14, 2024, and I'm having no trouble maintaining my new weight! Oh, don't weight more than once a week because you will fluctuate. I weigh every Tuesday morning before I eat any food, and before I shower, with no clothes on, so I get a true 'body' weight. ;-D

I add roasted garlic and onion (fry in olive oil), add sun-dried tomatoes and roasted red pepper to the cashew cream sauce. It's very tasty 😋
