Streaming services

There are usually plenty of things to watch but it is also nearly impossible to find them...are the search engines designed by morons?...or are they only interested in getting info out of you to sell?....what I do everyday or so is pick on one or two services...wade through EVERYTHING...all the crap....and try and find anything to watch...today it was Prime video I eventually found three things to watch...and marked them as my favourites...BUT when I sat down an hour later only one of those was in my favourites...the other two weren't there at all..it is pretty sad when we are paying for these services.....I now need to find the other ones again...not happy Jan...

  • Don't use paid services.

    • I was never into streaming services (PERIOD) - I enjoy reading (PERIOD) - and the library is FREE

      • It's not just streaming services. We do not have any pay-for streaming services and very rarely use the local TV networks' free 'catch-up' streaming service (only if we missed recording an episode from the regular broadcast, because our TV doesn't connect to the internet, and trying to watch on the iPad or computer screen is not a great experience). We do have Sky TV, and some of their channels can be hopeless. Some channels change their scheduling with no warning, so the set-top box records the wrong programme. You can set shows to record every episode with "Series Link", but that often records multiple the repeats of the same episode or misses and episode or the completely wrong timeslot, and some shows peculiarly can't be set to "Series Link" in the first place. The on-screen electronic TV guide often has the wrong episode blurbs (we missed a few weeks of one show because the blurb hasn't been changed since Christmas!). It's a bit of a shambles ... and that's with the old set-top box that we still use. New the one is reportedly even buggier (which explains why Sky first charged subscribers to upgrade the box, but are now trying letting subscribers upgrade for free).

        • I have noticed that, it seems, all streaming services share movies/shows as for a few months one thing will only be on Prime...then it's gone, and it's then only on paramount. Then, it will be gone off there and on Netflix. I personally use Netflix and Prime and it is only because my Mom NEEDS Netflix, so she has the top level account and shares it with me, my sister, and my brother. Otherwise, I would not pay for it. Same with Prime, she HAS to have Prime for her shipping, she didn't even realize she had access to Prime Video for two years, lol. So, I share that with her and pay nothing. If I didn't have access to these, I would just access primewire DOT gg (every 3-4 months it goes down for a week, then changes it's domain...the "gg" part. But you can literally find anything on there, but it is best accessed using a computer/laptop and make sure you have a proper antivirus like AVG running and extensions on your browser to block ads). I have tried Tubi, it has lots of content, but I cannot stand watching a 2 hour movie and having 16 ad breaks, lol.

          • Can't afford them. Thank goodness I love to read but alas, since Covid I have not found many books written by humans, at least I think not since they don't speak English, let alone even Yankee!
