Every state is different. In Qld, we get $700 per year electricity rebate, for pensioners, which will keep going until July2024. My electricity bill currently works out to be $8.95 per week. Which is affordable.Edited 10-Dec-23 12:50pm

  I also receive free bulk billed doctor's appointments as long as they are between 10am and 5pm weekdays. Dental is free and I can receive a free dental voucher to be used at any dental clinic in case of emergencies. The Spectacle Supply Scheme (SSS) provides eligible Qld residents with a free pair of basic prescription spectacles, once every two years.Edited 10-Dec-23 12:50pm

  Qld also has a concessional car registration for pensioners, reduces rego by $175 per year.

  No-interest loan scheme Now, this one sounds suspicious, but it is above-board. Issued by not-for-profit Good Shepherd Microfinance via a network of hundreds of charities around the country, low-income people can gain loans for such things as broken white goods or emergency repairs, such as your car, as well as medical bills or even essential education expenses.   If a pensioner like myself is living on $40 a fortnight after paying rent, electricity, gas, water, internet and mobile phone and that $40 has to cover groceries, taxi fares, dog food, vet bills, medical bills, medication, clothes, repairs to things when they break down and much more then it is impossible to take out even a interest-free loan because it would leave me with NOTHING to live on during the repayment period With the removal of energy concessions by electricity will increase by $120 and my gas by $80 thus leaving me with NOTHING to live onEdited 11-Dec-23 02:48am

Vote for the Greens...if we all did it.... you wouldn't have to have Liberal instead....it doesn't have to be a two party system with the winner being the one you hate least......we could have a democracy...that would be fun..... someone could start up a real labor party too...because I don't see one at the moment! ...Australia is a bit like France..where you can choose a right wing party... or an extreme right wing party ...looks the same in the UK too...Edited 09-Dec-23 13:00pm

  Australian politics operates on the basis that we have a choice of one of only 2 parties that can become our Government However, as BOTH of those parties are corrupt and have no idea how to run the country EVERYONE across Australia should vote for ANY other party so that both Liberal and Labour parties get NO VOTES AT ALL ( meaning they ALL lose thier seats) and then the politicians who have the most votes form a Government with a mixture of politicians from ALL other parties EXCEPT Liberal and Labour As a result of ALL liberal and Labour politicians losing thier seats hopefully that would then lead to them recruiting all NEW politicians who are fresher, more honest, more reliable, and with a new realistic look at how things really are and act more honestly and appropriately through fear of the above occuring to them

	What do you reckon about the latest news from the Government? As of the 1st of December 2023, Australian pensioners and the unemployed will NO LONGER get 17 and a half percent off our electricity and gas bills ( no more discounts at all) First, the government stuffs up the Medicare system to the point where medical specialists no longer bulk bill and most GPs no longer bulk bill.....This means the government took away the FREE medical care and treatment which they STILL falsely claim we receive Then they allow the costs of living including rents and mortgages to massively increase Then they allow energy companies to massively increase prices and then TAKE AWAY the discount we are supposed to get on those bills and still have the audacity to charge us GST on those energy bills In addition to that, I get funding from MyAgeCare for in-home help, and in addition to the 33% of my funding my service provider charges in annual fees my provider has overcharged me by $8000 between August 2022 and December 2023 and the Government agencies do nothing about it even though this Government claims they are going to crack down on the in-home services providers who are ripping off the system How does this Government expect the pensioners and unemployed to survive by taking away our energy discounts and FREE health care especially when they are doing nothing about the high costs of living, high costs of rents and mortgages?????
