A spoon left in your morning cuppa will send it colder faster. As the metal is a conducter the cold outside air will work down the spoon and the heat from the liquid will conduct up .The science says temperatures will always try to equalise ,resulting in your tea/coffee cooling down faster than without a spoon in it. Same goes with Black tea as opposed to adding milk to it. The black tea will cool faster as it tries to match the external cooler temperature outside the cup. The milky tea being closer to the outside temperature won't need to equalise as quickly.
