  Funny story, 'a glint in his eye' - a brief and subtle expression in one's eye. When I worked in the middle east, videos were all the rage (90's), the locals (Arabs) were discovering movies and Hollywood and movie stars. They called Clint Eastwood, Glint Eastwood. I thought it was their nickname for him, due to his Dirty Harry glare (do you feel lucky, punk?) until I realized that they couldn't say 'Clint', It came out as 'Glint'.

  I had a funny lost in translation ,with my ex once who was from India. Asked him over the phone when he would be coming over ( how long ) as sometimes he would take the train . .. or can u get a lift ?As his workmates would often give him a ride . Arrived in due time with a giant bottle of ....yep Lift !! I said what's this? Furphy. A furphy is Australian slang for an erroneous or improbable story that is claimed to be factual. Furphies are supposedly heard from reputable sources, sometimes second-hand or thirdhand, and widely believed until discounted. The word is said to derive from water carts designed and made by a company established by John Furphy of J. Furphy & Sons of Shepparton, Victoria. The steel and cast-iron tanks were first made in the 1880s and were used on farms and by stock agents. Many Furphy water carts were used to take water to Australian Army personnel during World War I in Australia, Europe, and the Middle East. In his book Memories of a Signaller, Harold Hinckfuss wrote of the "furphies" or rumours of pending movements of troops, while awaiting transfer to the French lines from Egypt. "Every day in the tent someone would come up with a 'furphy' that he had heard whilst down at the latrines. That is why the different stories were called furphies.

  Yes I did, and that is my Piepie in the photo yes.. she is big and free now and living at the farm and has had quite a few babies since I bought her here from the city. She still comes and sees me sometimes, especially in the Spring when she has her new babies. I don’t think Furphy make the original tanks anymore, they have moved on to Stainless steel tanks. Roger was one of the Furphy sons, there was a Roger, an Andrew and another one that I can’t remember. I worked there for about 5 years when I was living in Mooroopna. I have a lot of Furphy cast iron cookwear that I made while I was there,including one of their famous camp ovens, none of which I have ever used, lol. A lot of people think that the funny writing on the tank ends is Arabic, but actually, it is shorthand, warning about the dangers of alcohol consumption. There is also the ‘good better best message as well of course’. Interestingly Roger never took much notice of that alcohol warning when he was young..Edited 08-Dec-22 20:11pm

  I have heard of Little Creatures..my hubby loves craft beers- even though he has to drink them in his tin mug with a straw- and ice! We have a big craft beer place just near our house- its called Brewtown and has a number of Kiwi craft beers. Its funny because for many years it was a big Dunlop tyre factory and on a still morning you would smell burning- ikkkk- from the big chimney. Nowadays wafting from there on a still morn is the smell of malt!!

Dodged pos covid and he wanted to go to the Mall- heaving with the masses of unmasked people, and then i drove the wheelchair van into harvey normans carpark then realized the roof was too low and had to drive out the wrong way- with mr man screaming at me..god crazy. We shared a nice steak at RSA and our daughter came with her BF this morn with some nice pressies. And the Staff were all wishing him happy bday. We both tired! You ok? been up to mischief??

  oh yes I have the neurologists at my disposal here fortunately so have the proper meds for it . They have a bullet shot one that fixes it in1/2 hr relpax. Or imgran. No side effects either. So I usually get on with my day . Preventatives they also give is a high bpressure tab ea day .tell them ;) Codeine will make matters worse as it will give u a rebound headache the more u take ... wears off then comes back again !   Sounds like you have some good Med. people looking after you- that is a special thing and great when it helps eh. So good you can get onto it fast. I get a sore patch of skin- hypersensitive- and then the headache comes on. Trust me to be weird- a skin aura. Used to get the visual aura's long time ago.

  Allin is turning out to be a real surprise packet ,indeed .?saw him speaking espanol somewhere on here yesterday? A man of the sea u say ? I now know a part Cherokee Viet vet ,catfish catching, deer hunting ,bunny wrangling , secret brownie scoffer .! Funny ,I told him I imagined he looked like the old guy in alaskan bush people .   Thats one show we haven't seen yet! We love the foul mouthed Tony Beets on Gold Rush. Haa didn't know our fellow could habla espanol. Headin' back to Youtube for some more laffs :)

  never one bourbon too many...well maybe. Hubby drank so many bourbon's on new years eve once and ended up in hosp with a very sick pancreas. He switched back to Bundaberg rum after that....Edited 30-Oct-22 17:45pm

  haven't managed to go to the hospital because of bourbon but one night we were smashed and we went to the hospital to visit strangers give choccys and stuff took about 3 hours to have us removed was a great night

  we went to a Foodland and bought a couple of baskets of stuff, we went looking for mary mginty we even had nurses looking on their records for us, that's how we were busted but we created a lot of laughs along the way,put some smiles on some dials

  This one brings back memories of a conversation I had with mine when he was 5or6yrs .little high pitch excited voice telling me he'd won something at school. ( responsible parent i am) ..I carefully worded the response " well you are a lucky little basket weaver aren't you?" ! My shock when he joyfully replied "yeah I am a lucky bastard aren't I mummy !" 	Good evening fellow hard working Rewardian's.. Wondered if anyone had a favourite saying or even a wee poem they like or use sometimes.. Sorry if this has been done before. My hubby can't speak coz of stroke but when lying down he can get out a vaguely clear "Woteva!" haha. Maybe mine is "I need chocolate".
