Is everybody getting for the big day when you are overwhelmed with mail and the Postie has to make several trips to keep up with your post? The big problem I have is getting rid of all the empty envelopes.

    • Living in Australia, Valentines Day wasn't a big thing when I was growing up. I'd never given or received anything for Valentines Day for the first 30 odd years of my life. When I started dating my partner I decided to buy him a Valentines card. I thought I was being romantic and was pretty proud of myself. So I hand him the card and he said 'I don't do Valentines'. Lol you can imagine how stupid I felt. So that was my one and only Valentines card to someone and I'm in my 60s now. These days my partner and I don't even bother with birthday or anniversary presents for each other. We just don't need anything so see it as a waste of money trying to buy something for the sake of it. If we want something we just go out and buy it when we decide we want it. We're both happy with it that way.

Not really. We are just both very contented and love being together and don't need to buy each other things. We tell each other how much we love each other every day, multiple times. That's enough for us. We still buy for the kids and grandkids for birthdays and Christmas. If my husband decides he wants a new phone he'll buy it and say it's his birthday/Christmas present for that year. It's far better doing it that way than stressing over what to buy for someone and hoping they'll like it.
