It is already one year late, nobody in Japan wants it ... nobody else can go ... it is still massively expensive ... what is the point?

We don't need ANY Olympics. Waste of time and money. If athletes consder this their job, then they can PAY to go to work like everyone else. If the International Olympic Committee want to have one, then they should PAY to set up a site dedicated to it and just hold it there forever, like a corporate headquarters. IOC is only interested in bribes. Why should countries have to bid for it? Where does this bid money go (backpockets of IOC along with any other bribes paid to them)

Lottery is always a great way to win if your lucky but the question is it merely a money wasting exercise? Anybody share your thoughts with me on this
The dog house
I believe it is a waste of money. I know someone who spends $30 a week and others even more. Calculate that over a year and that could go towards a holiday or something you might need in the house. I prefer to work for what I have and manage my own expenses. Sometimes money can bring more issues than it is worth.

Our existence is treated like a magic show....Covid 19 came just in time to delay anyone fixing Climate change...and everyone is VERY concerned about the huge quantities of plastics that are dumped and not recycled....NO-ONE is talking about mankind's obsession with concrete...billions of tons of waste concrete that won't be recycled and will NEVER break down...lets just put in the queue and only bring it up if everything looks like being fixed....

You have inherited a vast sum of money, from a senior ... family --member! Or, got lucky in the lottery's. What would you do with it? Maybe ... travel, buy a boat, house, help out with others in the family? Donate some of it, or even invest part, or all of it! How exciting! So many things you could do with a lot of money.

If I won a million dollars, undoubtedly, I would wet myself with excitement. First thing I would do is buy some new undies.

Did you have anything interesting - passed on down through you're family? This might have been ... antique's, old-family recipe's, old herbal treatment's, family stories, even health issue's, that tend to run in you're families ... gene's, etc.
Grommie
Zing, clearly the thing passed on down through your family is the use of the apostrophe when it's not necessary.. in every case above it's wrongly used and the word you're should be your in both cases.

Thousands and thousands of people around the globe waiting for organ transplants but there are not enough organs available. Legalization might help many people.
BLM
Humans already traffic other humans - now - the concept is trafficing humans' organs by legalization - my answer is still NO!! Legalization will not help many people (the rich) - legalization will hurt many people (the poor).

Do you use Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or, even Google Pay? What about PayPal or other online banks? Do you feel they are safe? Will Cash be a thing of the past, like bartering? Rarely used and rarely accepted? What are your thoughts on this change that seems to be inevitable?
Maria B 89860
I can remember the feeling of satisfaction when we used to get paid in cash, kept a little for expenses, train or bus fares lunch money and paid board and the rest got put in the bank and it stayed in the bank. None of this direct deposit and losing track of how much gets withdrawn bit by bit for all and sundry to track where you spent what.
I only use PayPal to receive survey payments and am quick to transfer it to a real bricks and mortar bank account. Don't like the way the banking system is heading with all the online no face to face person contact ... not knowing who of what purpose your money is being used as it accumulates a pitance in interest.

Should all children care be free for working parents. A lots of peoples pay a lots of money to put a child in day care. Some country give free or less money. Austria almost all day care needed are free. In some others country children have better place for child to go children care. So what do you think and why.
Lones
Stay home with your children, live within your means. If we didn’t try to keep up with joneses, appreciated the way our parents bought us up and appreciated that time that you miss from putting your children in care. Before you know it they are gone and you’re an empty nester. Why have children if you’re not going to nurture, and spend those precious years with them

Whatever happened to cars being sold either new or used with a spare tire in the boot? What is a driver supposed to do if they get a flat tire when on a long trip? Are we all supposed to pay and have someone waste their time to fix the tire. If this is what is expected of drivers today, then why have a wheel brace and a jack in the boot for the sole purpose of changing a tire!
Pato Lo Duck
Just a thought, how many of you regularly check the air pressure in your spare tyre. A flat spare is the same as no spare..!!

Many, many years ago, I worked as a childcare worker and if you witnessed what I saw working in various centres, you WOULDN'T place your kid in childcare. But it's not only the safety aspect. Parents are missing out on their children's important moments. Their first baby steps. Their first word. You can never get that again. Raise your kids yourself!
Katzeye
Some working parents don't actually have any choice but to put their children in to a daycare centre if they have no one else, like a family member or close friend to care for them while they are at work. And some parents don't have any choice but to work to help pay off the mortgage and other living expenses so don't judge what others do until you have walked in those shoes.Just saying.

Have you seen how big strawberries are now? They look like they're on steroids. Fruit is seasonal, it's not meant to be eaten all the year around. All these preservatives and crap they throw into our foods is what is causing our food intolerance and gut issues
Neo
Food is tastiest when in season (that is why there are seasons). Preserving was invented so we could have fruit and vegetables out of season/stock up for winter/not waste a good growing season.
I believe lots of gut issues and intolerances go further back than just today's preservatives. Best health information is, and always has been "eat everything in moderation". Unfortunately, when women are pregnant, they are told by "experts" not to eat this or that while they are pregnant and this is the first stop to helping the eliminated food become recognised as an allergen to the immune system of the forming foetus. These people then "breast feed" for the best of their child but still eliminate these foods for health reasons so, by the time the food is introduced to the child, the child's natural immune response is "this should not be in my body and needs to be attacked" (allergic reaction)

The only reason governments won't legalise cannabis is because big pharma will take a huge hit. It's all about money. Alcohol kills more people than weed ever will, that is a certainty.

Tobacco and Alcohol do more damage but collect a lot of taxes - at least you'll get the tax going to the govt. instead of drug dealers. It is a complicated issue and deserves more than just a simple yes or no.

Trying to maintain a certain standard of beauty is tough, especially after thirty. There is so much societal pressure on women without having to look at photoshopped images of bodies that are unattainable. And they wonder why so many women have eating disorders. The mind boggles!

A lot of my neighbors, here in the States, have "Ring" doorbells installed. Or, another type of technology to replace their "doorbells". Another thing, many have so many gadgets, from speakers to their light fixtures being operated through the internet. Have you ever had one of your pets put to sleep? Did you stay with your pet while it was being done?
Over the years I have had to have several of my pets put down. It is not an easy decision to make, but sometimes it is the only answer. I have always stayed with my dog or cat when it is being done. I had a vet tell me once that one of the hardest things for her to do, was to put an animal to sleep without an owner being present. She said the animal would look around the room searching for their loved one. Most of the time these animals are in pain, they are in a strange...

As hard a decision as it is, when the time comes it is the most humane, loving act you can do for them. I have held my 19 year old cat as he went over the Rainbow Bridge. It was quick and he was at peace. My sister recently had her faithful old Ridgeback euthanised. Her back legs paralysed and erratic breathing indicated her lungs were filling with fluid. The whole family was with her as she passed. If only we could have this option when our human family\u2019s time has come\u2026 my Dad was in agony for weeks before his passing.

Banana flour is used by thousands of people in areas where access to wheat flour is limited. It is very good when baking or as a thickening agent in soups and stews. We live between two tropical islands, one of our houses is 30 kilometres south of the equator. The cost of living has really impacted hard on so many families as we head into Christmas In my small family we are only spending money on gifts for children and have done so for a couple of years. Do you still buy gifts for adults or only children?

I don't have a child or children. I don't give gifts to a child or children on Christmas Day (which is a pagan holiday). I was raised an agnostic and became an atheist. I didn't give or receive Christmas Day gifts as a child, and I don't give or receive Christmas Day gifts as an adult. Vacations can be a chance to take a break from, not just work, but typical food routines, too. That can lead to weight gain, but it's probably water weight, not fat, a dietitian said. Weight gained after a vacation is nothing to stress about and is completely normal. What would you say? Is it normal to gain 2kg on holiday?

What are you thanking for in this 'thanksgiving' holiday?

We have private rooms for private messaging via Google.... people's pictures can be put up via their avatars and now added to things like their recipes and discussions or polls .
These can either be personal photographs or taken from another social media source like pinterest or facebook or instagram ..all of which constitutes copying and pasting / sharing posts / uploading from one social media site to another ! We can like or comment on eachother's forum posts in the chats otherwise known as a thread ... Keeping safe online here is still very much warranted as are the rules for using other social media sites. Yes we have limitations here ,but there is live chat in the bingo room and the ability to share video clips from media sites along with putting up with a multitude of annoying advertising , people's mad misinformation and some trolls even .. yep I would most definitely call this a social media website ;)

What has gone wrong with the young males of today. Another school embroiled in young men taking the faces/head photos of social media and doing an AI attachment of a nude body to them and posting so many on line. Where has their common decency gone. Lack of respect towards girls and women has become endemic in recent years. WHY......? Are parents, schools, older generations not teaching them? Are they just brats who think they are cute or funny? Have men...

We have been able to do this with photos (without AI) for over 30 years...anybody who is skilled can do this in Photoshop...so what has changed recently?....little girls now spend hours photographing themselves.. pouting and vamping it up...with their new phones and post them all over the internet...and little boys have easy access to to these..and pornography....and also now have software that makes attaching heads to bodies so easy that every moron can do this to a reasonable level....what's changed?...technology...that's all...if you don't want your head attached to a naked body stop posting it everywhere... in multiple views. different lighting and angles.. online....easy to use.....you know it can happen...just wake up and pay attention....if they made the software illegal it would stop immediately...

If you take a look back in history, carrying a few extra pounds was a sign of wealth because rich people were the only ones that could afford fattening food. Fast forward to 2020 and junk food is cheaper than healthy food and poor people are fatter than rich people. One would assume if we were to raise the price of junk food exponentially. Our health would improve. Thoughts?

Growing your own food can be cheaper and healthier. With the rising cost of produce, many of my family and friends started growing more produce. I myself grow a few things which I find taste better as there is no need for insecticides/chemicals. Have you tried growing your own produce?

We moved to a rural property - a year ago tomorrow, actually - and since then I have grown potatoes, kumara (sweet potatoes for those outside NZ), NZ yams, carrots, cauli, broccoli, capsicums, corn, onions (red and brown), spring onions, pumpkins, beans, snowpeas (mange tout), leeks, cabbages (red and savoy), spinach, silverbeet, swede, daikon radish, beetroot, garlic, rhubarb, courgettes (zucchini), several varieties of tomatoes and herbs and attempted eggplant (aubergine) but was unsuccessful with those as I planted them too late in the season. We have also harvested feijoas, lemons, limes, mandarins and peaches from trees that were already established on the property. We also have chickens for eggs. I have made several batches of pasta sauce, tomato relish, peach jam, onion marmalade and feijoa chutney. I also make my own Irish soda bread, naan bread and focaccia. We are loving the flavours of fruit and veges fresh from the garden and are looking to add more gardens so we can grow more produce.

When did publishers think that magazines should have articles printed on coloured backgrounds? These last few years it's been rife. Perhaps they're in cohorts with opticians because its practically impossible to read and may be causing eye problems - dark brown background printed with black writing or pink pages printed with yellow writing. It may look pretty and 'now', but if you can't read it, what's the point of publishing it. That's very kind of you Mary thinking of those affected by the cyclone here in NZ luckily I live in the South Island where we were perfectly fine but it sure has brought back vivid memories of our own natural disaster here in Christchurch years ago so the entire NZ is feeling for those in the North :(

Do you buy your meat from a supermarket or a dedicated butchery? I recently heard that lots of in-house butchers were being laid off from supermarkets. It made me fell a tad guilty for buying my meat from supermarkets for about the past 30 years. So I decided I would find a local butcher and do my shopping from there in the future. To my great surprise the entry door was plastered with ads for jobs, full time, part-time or casual. Perhaps my feeling of guilt was not...
Tammie S 1220201
Supermarkets have 'meat cutters' not butchers. Butchers start with thr whole animal. There aren't alot of true butchers around anymore

How much do you think the content of your dreams is actually significant? I have heard that if someone appears in your dreams, that they are thinking of you. I don t actually see how this can be true, but a lot of people do believe this. Why or why not do you believe that dreams actually have meaning?
Pato Lo Duck
What I can't understand is how I can dream things that I have never seen before. Complex machines or equations I have no hope of understanding in real life. Places I have never been to before in exquisite detail. People I have never met... It is all quite strange...

Should the Royal Family disown Harry as a spoilt brat

YES! But without "the Royals INC." what else would we talk about? How on earth would the print industry survive?
Perhaps, we could talk about The Bay City Rollers?
Anyone remember them?

If you could go back to when you were just starting out, what would you do differently, knowing now what you didn't know then. Would you marry the same person, buy your house somewhere different, have kids, go for more holidays or train in a different kind of work?
APB
Its a tricky one...you don't just know more now...you are probably quite a different person too...I don't know how I would get on with myself when I was 23....radically different to now....your life experiences have contributed a lot to who you are at the moment...if you tinker in the past you will be different in the present...its all connected and hopefully a learning experience

We all eat emotionally, actually we do this lot and don't even know it. But what is your favourite comfort food though, when you really need a food nurture. I try not to comfort food eat, as I find it is very addictive, however I have not yet mastered the art of not using food as a comfort as yet, when my emotions are in distraught mode (like now). It is an interesting topic when you delve into it deeply at the scientific level, why we comfort...

mmm great topic..where do i start haha.
If i have the shakes from a bit of low blood sugar- because i've actually used some physical energy which my lazy body not used to- i have to snaffle a peanut butter and honey sammie. If i'm just feeling piggy then chip sammie, cake cake or cake, and of course choc. I used to wolf down hot chips but lately i can't do that without suffering later. And everything with a cup o tea n sugar.

Do you have any good ideas for a funny, reasonable, and mature prank to pull on someone close to you? I'm not talking about the teenage types we ued to pull back in the day. Just something simple and harmless, but nevertheless, FUNNY?? I need a good, clean, idea that isn't too "out there" and won't hurt or really offend the person getting pranked. Please no vulgar or meanspirited ideas. Thanks.

On December 23rd 2019 I turned my television off, and it hasn't been turned on since. I haven't watched TV for over 2 and a half years. People are genuinely surprised by that and often ask why. I lob the question "why should I?" right back, and they are stumped. Here's your chance to help them out. What benefits does watching TV provide?

Just read this news and it's a great song: Pink Floyd have reunited to record their first new material in 28 years, a protest song against the Ukraine war.
Hey Hey, Rise Up! features David Gilmour and Nick Mason alongside long-time Floyd bassist Guy Pratt and Nitin Sawhney on keyboards.

Many people claim that they meet the "right" person at the wrong time. However, if this person is indeed your true soulmate, is there such a thing as a wrong time to meet them? If they are the one, then shouldn't any time be perfect?

Falling prey to a con artist can be a humiliating and often expensive exercise. Many cons end in costly court cases, even imprisonment, and that's just for the victims. The perpetrators often appear to be charismatic and charming, but they re far more likely to be narcissistic risk-takers who revel in power and control. Have you ever met anyone of such charismatic and complex character?
BLM
My ex-wife is charismatic and charming (still CUTE and still has a BODY (not a good foundation for a marriage) - which is still amazing since my ex-wife is eleven years older than me - still a SCAM ARTIST (Does a tiger lose its' stripes as it gets older?) - I guess we all play the FOOL (I know I did) at some point in our Lifes (and your money is going to part from you under suspicious circumstances while you are playing the FOOL). I guess the TRICK is not to make the same mistake twice in your lifetime (easily said - harder to accomplish)!

Trainers became fashionable in the late 1970s you had the cool looking shoe mounted on a bed of what looked a lot like silicone...and then a hard wearing sheet of sole with grip marks on the bottom...you bounced around, you walked on air, I could work 16-hour shifts in a kitchen on concrete floors and my feet were fine...these would always last at least a year...and a lot more........now they look "cooler"...more colours, more styles....most give you "firm" support or...

That's called MARKETING. I have some Sketchers I have been wearing for years, I pop them in the wash. All these trendy shoes are for those woke people who want to make a statement..hey look at me I'm exercising and boo hoo to you old fat idiots. All you do is see how the shoes feel on your feet. I always look for specials. There only thing after having three kids it is not worth buying cheapo Kmart school shoes for your kids. They didn't last a term and the soles just fell off. I go to clearance shops that have premium leather school shoes at a much lower price.

Hey I m a bit of an introvert and really didn t mind lockdown! Of course no one wants COVID but should we have an annual compulsory lockdown to reset ourselves for up to a week every year? I d like to know how many people would like there to be a statutory lockdown period of a week each year to reset ourselves and spend time with our families.

If you want to lock yourself down for 3 days, then go ahead, knock yourself out! BUT don't force it upon those that don't want to participate. There has been too much loss of freedoms and too many restrictions! I used to LOVE the free country we once lived in, the freedom that our ancestors fought and died for!

I worked in a Nursing Home, where I witnessed an AIN pushing over a resident, calling him a stupid old man. I went straight to the Deputy to report it. I stock up on non-perishables at sale time. I've never paid full price for hair colour or washing detergent: I wait until they're on sale for 50% off, then buy two or three packs. I buy new boots at the end of winter sales & sandals & swimwear at the end of summer. I'm more concerned about comfort & quality than the latest fashions. For larger items like furniture, I wait until post-Xmas or end of financial year sales. I also sew a lot of my own clothes - that saves a LOT!

Last night I let the dog out and the air was so sickening. During my sleep I was woken up by a blocked nose and the smell from outside had seeped into my room. I could not sleep so I got up for a cup of tea instead. I felt better and was able to breath easier. This happens nearly every month. Why I have no idea. Why not every night? Does this happen in your area?
Stevi Wonder
Investigate Suzy. Could be a factory near by. It could be anything? See if other people in your community or neighbourhood are noticing the same smell. Once you can identify where the smell is coming from, then you can contact your local council & see if they can do anything about fixing the problem. Good luck in your investigation Suzy.

I don't think that people are too different between all the various states in Australia...and I think that this applies in the USA as well. I don't understand why Queenslanders cannot buy alcohol in a supermarket ... or why Victorians can buy certain drugs in theirs ... is driving at 110 only the best speed in certain states..and in others it is set at 100?.....there is really very little difference between us...it IS just one country...why can't we just have one...
Hohum
Haha, it's simple really, It depends how much revenue the various states need. For example, if not enough people break the speed limit at 110 then reduce it to 100 etc.

I so enjoyed Emma Kate's recent discussion on favourite songs for her playlist and then started thinking about the first cassette tape i ever bought- which was in the 80s. It was Human League. I was a student at a Technical Institute and was living away from home for the first time and in a Halls of residence. Having my music cassette player going was great and i remember friends making those mix tapes with some many great songs on them.

I used to assume when I saw a woman in gym wear/activewear, that she was off to the gym. Only to discover, it was a fashion trend. How did this happen? Is society on a downward slide? I prefer to dress elegantly but each to their own I guess.
APB
How did it happen?.....it was a gradual process, starting in the 1970's when gay men started wearing trainers when they had no intention to do any training...that quickly spread to the whole population...then we had "girl power" which meant the only way to be equal to men was to wear your bra on the outside and wander around half naked...this has now filtered down to the general population...it can be a blessing or a curse depending on how much fat is crammed into very small quantities of a semi see through stretch material....each to their own....

Why are so many people rude to supermarket staff. We are human too we have good days and bad days. We have things going on outside of work that we worry / stress about. It's not our fault something isn't in stock or has run out. We have zero control over what the company we work for does!
Fortuna
It's what I call the 'kicking the dog' principle. If they are having a bad day, they'll take it out on whoever is nearby. I didn't work retail, but I worked a job as a cleaner during day hours. I encountered a lot of rude, nasty people. Just consider the source.

Now a days we rely on technology too much. But is it good to have so many? Do you think we relay on them too much that if we take them all away we will be lost and wont be able to function?

I think we rely on it way too much, back in 1859 there was major disruotion due to a sloar flare.it wiped out the worlwide telegraph system,When, its not if but when, imagine what it would be like, every electrical circuit fried,no communications,no power,no pumpimg stations, planes falling from the sky,you have already seen how people reacted to the china virus emptying shelves, imagine how it will be when this happens, every man for himself, they estimate it would take 10 years and trillions of dollars to just get US back to normal,if anyone is interested heres a link to the carrington event

I may be wrong about this. But I think men believe if they pay for dinner, they are entitled to sex. So I usually offer to pay for both meals or go Dutch, to hold on to my power. But I know a lot of women EXPECT men to pay, which is also wrong. What are your thoughts on this? Who should pick up the bill?

i think if you date a man that expects sex after paying your dating the wrong type of man, before i married and dated women,if i asked them out i paid, not once did i expect anything in return.
