Whether answering captchas for accessing sites, work reasons, authentication purposes, it is incredible how awful these tests are and the bots often mistake an actual human with a bot spam. Not just the annoying ones where the picture of x takes up so many spaces but the grainy pictures that are hard to see (or maybe the object is in the picture, but it is so tiny and in the background that it is impossible to spot). Then we have the audio ones, where the person's voice...

My biggest frustration is trying to set/reset passwords. It used to be simple. Now you need a minimum of 6-8 letters with numericals, upper case, lower case, symbols, can't re-use old passwords, etc. I can spend up to half an hour trying to come up with a password that a website accepts & one that I will remember. Then by the time I have come up with my unique never used before password, I promptly forget it. Then the cycle starts all over again. Yes, I write them down. And what I mess my notebook looks like!

I have been searching for a job, for about 6 months now, with the same result every time I've applied. One of the main requirements when applying for a job is having a driver's license. I haven't been able to get my driver's license for a number of personal reasons, but this has restricted me to jobs that I'm not interested in. What should I do about this?
Katzeye
Same thing has happened to my son, always asked about drivers license.I suspect it's so the business knows they can rely on you to get to work and on time.A lot of people take public transport now rather than drive to work but they don't seem to take that in to consideration.

Has anyone reused their clothes? An example is a jumper I do not care to wear out anymore, so I have decided to use it as a pyjama top because it is warmer than the original pyjama top. I have a shiny top that I have had for 10 years, so I am going to cut it up and make a few headbands for myself. Anyone else done the same?
sunflower
always recycle, reuse, pass to someone else. i do it with clothes, shoes and other things. while my recycling is not 100% i certainly try my best. i also use other, water system for bathroom, use recyclable kitchen towels in addition to my paper towels, to reduce my use of paper. i only buy clothes i know i need, use clothes i have until they need to be recycled. i donate ones that are still in good condition to people who may need them and cannot afford them, same with shoes. i do my best not to just throw things away. i am working towards minimalistic use of things in general but to be honest i find it challenging still.

I am not sure if this could be a topic, but how do you forgive someone who took away the life of someone you love? It is now 40 years since my brother died by a drunk driver. The hatred that spewed from me was just horrible. I just had hatred and anger in my heart. Four years later things changed. I became a mom and realised the hatred I had was only hurting me, not the drunk driver. Fate was with me that day, it was just before Christmas and the transit bus I...

Thank you for sharing such a personal and profound story. Forgiving someone who has caused such immense pain is incredibly challenging and deeply moving. It takes a great deal of strength and compassion to reach that point. How have you been feeling since that moment of forgiveness?

For me, they can shut up and actively listen. They re not just waiting to speak. They have a sense of balance in the conversation. What are your thoughts? What screams "highly intelligent person"?
Liane H
There's a few various traits , one would be being intuitive and able to communicate someone else's thoughts ,feelings or jumbled words to another who is not understanding them .
Being a night owl is commonly placed with people of intelligence as they like their own quiet time to let their imaginations run or to pore over desired projects ..
Lastly is a well timed sense of humour.

I decided to pay for Stan Sport this year, so I could watch the tennis games of my choice and also all the exciting Olympic Games in Paris. In recent years, I have been disappointed with Free to Air TV because I ended up missing many crucial games. They seem to be too selective and restrictive and do not offer full coverage of all the events. What do you think?
Graham A
The fact that you watch Stan Sport is exactly why you can't see a lot of sport on FTA TV anymore! I am not sure why you think you need it to watch the Olympic Games as it will be on FTA TV.
Heaps of sporting broadcast rights have been bought by major broadcasting companies such as the disgusting Murdoch empire and it is then locked away behind a paywall. The minnows like the Australian FTA stations just cannot compete with the money offered by the majors and THAT is why you can't see things like F1 or MotoGP anymore on free to air. The likes of Stan Sport, Kayo etc means no pay...no view.
It's nothing to do with being 'too selective and restrictive' it's because people will pay Stan Sport to watch events and so it becomes a money making proposition. It's that simple.

I have read in different places that some people believe that they should be paid for helping with their grandkids and these days most families both of the parents to get by and if they have to pay a grandparent to help it sometimes cost too much and the kids miss out. I do help with my grandkids by doing school drop-offs and after school activities which I enjoy spending time with the grandkids and wouldn't think of making my kids to pay me family helps family
Aisha A 379399
Grandparents help out because they love their grandkids. But it does require time and energy. I think some appreciation should be shown but not necessarily with money. Buy groceries for the old folks or treat them to a nice meal once in a while.

So I've never been to a concert before and have been thinking about seeing one for once. But I've been seeing a lot of conspiracy that concerts are secretly demonic rituals in disguise. What are your thoughts on the matter?
Teri 1282723
It really depends on who you go see. I've been to some Christian music concerts and they were true representation of love for God and Jesus Christ, hope. I've read about a concert by a group I'd never heard of and before the concert started they asked the audience who would like to give their life to Satan. CREEPY even writing those words down.

Recently, my family and I were trapped on an escalator at a major Hardware store, when the wheels of a trolley caught at the bottom of the escalator. People started to panic as they were pushed into one another. It was a very frightening experience. Fortunately, my daughter-in-law knew how to press the stop button to our great relief. No one was hurt, just shaken up. Surely there should be more education about safety and access to emergency buttons when necessary....
Gerald 1492860
The main thing that's required when using an escalator is common sense. An escalator is designed for a 2 legged person to stand on and hold the handrail as it moved the person up or down. They are not meant to transport wheeled objects.

When you finish a relationship, need some time to get use to be yourself again, because you have being with someone during a while. But which is the best moment to start dating again? Maybe you are not looking a relationship, maybe you are just looking for a distraction, or maybe you want to found the love again but you kind of feel guilty to try it again because everybody is telling you that it's too soon to start something. But what If you already have overcome it?
Linda C
Each person has their own time table. Me, I dated a few guys but after a few I decided it was no longer for me. I have not dated now in over 25 years and happy about it. Some people though like the twosomes. Never listen to other people. If you make a mistake then you own it.

It has happened to me, not once, but twice. The first time I legally fought them, got my job back, but felt the tension with the co-workers and managers. Although I did not do anything wrong to be forced out, when I returned, I couldn't take the stress and tension, so I resigned. What would you do if you were pushed out from your job by someone in authority over you?
Rosemary E 383382
I was retrenched after 40 years service. They sent the work to another state but I was not offered a transfer at all although they were already short staffed over there.

There are laws that state that something "on sale"...HAS to have been originally sold at a higher price...but there don't seem to be any rules on what "a limited time" is...are there?...and I see a few stores having these sales for several years at a time....shouldn't they be stopped from doing this?...or is it just buyer beware?...or a "bit of fun"....what do you think?
Enloe M
When I worked at a supermarket they would have a 10 items for 10 dollars sale. That would be 1 dollar for each item. But here is the thing, some items were 89 cent at the regular price. we employees would tell certain customers this and they would tell others.

I have a fairly large CD collection, maybe 200 to 250...just all the very best music I have ever heard in my life....most of it from the late 1960s to the 1990s haven't played most of it for over 15 years...(and I listen to some current music and think that is total rubbish and... who would listen to it?)...WELL I have just started to really listen to ALL my music again...being honest...nearly half of it is rubbish too!....let's be fair...a lot of the...

Going on my first camping trip. What are the essentials to take with you on a camping trip?
Sandra C 12043
Lots of the things already mentioned but 1. a map of where you are going . 2. Leave a detailed list of where you are are heading with someone you trust, how long for and the date you should be back, so they can notify the authorities if you don't return on time. Safety should be the foremost thing on your mind, especially if you are going alone.

I am so very interested what everyone is going to have for their Christmas food. Can you hit me with some ideas? Last year we fed lots of people, so I made salmon, ham and pulled pork with a few different salads and baked potatoes. This year, I would like to keep it more easy and casual. Also, will have fewer guests.

I have found many drivers in my opinion 9/10 sit right on top of me as specially when stopped at traffic lights on a hill position. So many times because they are literally on top of me when going to go my car (manual) has slightly rolled a couple of inches has hit the car behind me causing chip damage to my car. Yes, my car not there's. Get off people's behind, leave room at least a good metre. Furthermore, people need to drive not stopping at roundabouts it's a give way to...

How do you feel when you find out, the person you're dating, in their 30s & still living with their mother? Do you find this is strange & weird? Many adult children, these days, are still living much longer with their parents or either parent. Is it really a problem, as to me, it can or there is a suitable reason to why they still live all together. In today's world there are many reasons that this does happen, will you just judge a book by the cover, or will you understand...
Sarah G 76834
A lot of young people these days stay with their parents to save up for a house. I have house rules and my adult children have always respected that. For example my adult son pays board, and takes out the rubbish every week. In return, I do his washing, cooking, laundry and dishes. We mutually respect each other.

Electric cars sales are currently plummeting Worldwide and car giants are panicking...powered by... in the most part...fossil fuels...limited lifespans with expensive replacement parts and unsustainable batteries and oh yes....sometimes...just sometimes...they explode into flames. They might be causing more new problems than they were supposed to fix...why aren't we using Hydrogen? We already have hydrogen powered cars...why is there nowhere to fuel them?
Michael B 384408

Should school be a chore? Why can't learning be fun? I think that the way children are taught at school is too methodical and processed, it's a critical time for our kids, I was lucky enough to have great teachers who along with factual information I was also taught me why this information is important for instance I had a maths teacher in high school who took us to putt, putt to teach us speed and angle in relation to ball to the hole 95 percent of that class scored BS or...
APB
I had a few gems as teachers...but not many...I had a lot of fun at school but I wasn't supposed to be enjoying myself..so a fair bit of the time resulted in mad people hitting me with canes...over the bottom or across the palms..and a stream of half hour detentions after school..but none of it worked..I didn't get depressed...or give in....I still had laughing fits...I still had fun...that's what kids do!
...kids are VERY resilient..,and you cannot cure them of being REALLY happy,,I'd lie on the floor laughing and could not get up!..
....I am not sure how our current batch of little angels would cope with that...they would probably need therapy...(these days I might get therapy or medication for being optimistic defiant and happy...it is probably a medical condition...like everything else)
many of our current batch were really damaged during covid because they didn't see their friends....it affected their communication skills and their abilities at school....I wonder how they would cope with the Blitz....
or being in other interesting places...we might be raising a generation of babies that never want to leave home...
sorry BB I'm wandering off course here!

Spent a few days in Sydney, and I'm not so good on my feet, so used a lot of very expensive taxis. Overhead one driver actually asked for a tip and got himself a five dollar reward. This was wrong of him to ask for, as none of the others did, what do you think?
BLACK LIVES MATTER
I don't believe in tipping (I don't tip, and I don't feel self-conscious when I don't tip). Your employer (taxi drivers are employees) - should be paying you enough - so a customer shouldn't have to TIP YOU (known as subsidized your wages/earnings)! For as I am concerned - this individual (described in your scenario) needs to get a "real" job that doesn't involve tipping!

Sometimes I find I have been overcharged for an item. Store Policy guarantees that if you are overcharged, you are refunded and given the item free. Unfortunately, it is not the case with most staff. I sometimes remind them and other times I don't. Has anyone else noticed this?
Graham A
I have never had a problem....EVER..... with Woolworths or Coles. I always hope they over charge me. I have scored heaps of stuff over the years...probably the best was a jar of 400gm Moccona coffee.
just see them at the counter and be sensible and you won't have a problem.

What is our destiny? I have often wondered this, and I have to say it is very hard to come up with an answer. We can search for a lifetime without ever having a clue, so we just drift along, either working until the end or doing other odd jobs to see if something clicks. I have to say I wonder if there is a better way that I haven t discovered at this time, but if anyone should have an answer to this, I would definitely like to know.
BLACK LIVES MATTER
No answers, just my core belief system at work, hopeful; providing insight. DESTINY is what you are meant to do. It is your soul's dream for you. While FATE happens when you don't take responsibility for your life. DESTINY is what happens when you commit to growing, learning, and taking chances. DESTINY is not absolutely predetermined, but more like a beautiful, perfect, deeply meaningful plan (that is tailored to suit you - and only you). It is the force (Destiny) that some people think controls what happens in the future (your future), and which cannot be influenced by people (or the public).

Why is it that, there are so many people, especially who owns cats & dogs, they don't look after them. To me, it doesn't matter what animal you choose to own. If you chose a pet to have, it is your responsibility to look after it. A pet is the same way as looking after a child. You need to vaccinate it, play with it, get them some pet toys, exercise it, clean its droppings, feed it, give it something to drink & put it to bed. With all these responsibilities, nothing is...
Teri 1282723
I agree that if you have any animal, you look after all of it's needs... food, water, shelter, toys, socialization, medication, vaccinations, comfy bed, affection and loving attention. There is no excuse for neglect or abuse. Some people have no respect for themselves and have no idea how to express it to others whether children, spouse, co-workers, officials, wildlife or their own pets that they chose to take in. If you don't know love and respect, you cannot show love and respect. And some people are just so angry and take it out on those around them. These animals need rescuing and the people who abuse them need deep psychological help.

People around me have been receiving phone scams for the past four years. They sometimes have your correct personal information and trick you about your credit card, home internet, and undeliverable packages. We sometimes expect important phone calls such as doctor's appointments, real deliveries, and job-related inquiries. Do you think the government should deal with these scams? So...

Do you think that everyone should receive the same pay as what the government is saying? I don t agree, as you work your butt off to earn a high salary by putting yourself through education and university, to earn a top paid job. Then you have people that are so lazy, decides to finally get a job and wants to earn as what you have. This is wrong. What do you think?
Claude H
You must be paid enough now so stop bleating. Think of all those people who are just existing through no fault of their own. You chose to get your education while others could not afford that way of life. This does not mean they are not capable. There are many highly educated people that are incompetent and do not deserve what they are paid.

These days, it seems that kids are "dating" or "going together", before they even know what responsibilities come along with relationships of that sort. How old were you when you remember the"love bug" biting you? If someone with a lot of education (law school grad, for example) decided they'd be happier doing something that even didn't require college, like a plumber, bartender, opening a coffee shop or grocery store, whatever, Is that an okay decision to make or a waste of an education?
Smiley
I truly "LOVE" how people see jobs in trades (plumber, chippie, sparkie, gardener, etc) or retail as a lower rated job, like the people who work those jobs are a lesser person to someone who has completed many years of uni or has a high degree.
If it wasn't for cleaners, retail staff, check out operators, tradies and the like, how would you be able to do your shopping or even live? You would not have a house to live in- lots of tradies helped to build the vast majority of homes we all live in, without retail staff there'd be no shops operating, without cleaning staff many businesses would be piled high in filth.
I know of people who have doctorates, people who are A/Prof's who are cleaners or are doing labouring jobs or retail work as they simply cannot get work in their field, or maybe their job got too stressful, so they chose to do something completely different. These people also do a lot of volunteer work in roles some other "well educated" would not dream of doing.
I think it comes down to how you are raised. If you grew up with a silver spoon in your mouth and your parents taught you to look down on those with "lesser jobs", then sadly i think it will be very hard to change how one sees and treats other people and you may struggle with life if you're thrown a curve ball.
If you're raised to treat the cleaners, retail workers and garbage truck driver with respect and talk to them as a fellow equal human being, than i think you're a well rounded person who will do fine in life and be able to handle whatever the world throws their way.
And just as a FYI- Plumbers and tradies do up to 4years study/on the job training.
Bartenders and coffee shop workers also do a lot of training courses and need to get accreditation for some of their roles.
Same with grocery store workers. Yes, it's a job where you can start with no experience, but after doing the job for a while, you will realise you deal with many different things- abusive and/or rude customers, customers who they tell their deepest secrets to, you will sometimes be the ONLY person an individual (customer) interacts with, you will form friendships with customers, you will learn a lot about how a business is run.
If you study for a decade and are still miserable, was it all worth it?
If you start an entry level job and thoroughly enjoy it, do you consider this to be a waste of your education or the fact you have had an amazing opportunity open up for you?

So I have a daughter who worked at a warehouse in customer service. Her hours have been cut so low because she's not needed at the checkout since self service is available. As a matter of fact it's all self service there now. What do you think about machines taking over some people jobs? I find it quite frustrating
Timothy N 929266
REFUSE TO USE SELF-SERVICE. If that is the only option I call a staff member in to do it for me on the rare occasion that I have to visit that store simply because there is no other choice in the town I live in. I never do self service at a supermarket. The prices have wages built into them so darn well employ someone! 90% of my groceries are now home delivered, so for the same cost, I am employing the computer/ order person, a supervisor, packer, checker, delivery driver and website developer/ managers - and still the supermarket is making mega millions each year. GOOD BYE SELF SERVICE and HELLO HOME DELIVERY

Your son, daughter, grand child....has finally passed their licence. They don't have a lot of money, but would like a reliable one. They ask your advice. So what car would you recommend? Manual? Auto? Hybrid? Safety rating? Brand? Yes, a broad subject, but from experience or knowledge what would you choose for them? Public transport or walking is out of the question as they have to travel. Thanks.
Bugalugs
Toyota or Mazda but, but as Roslyn A says, hybrid or EV would be great but at present too expensive even for a used one. Manual or Automatic. I know this may sound a bit sexist but I think most young men would prefer a Manual as they are more fun to drive!

Edward S when you click on Submit and get those oh-so-annoying " Sorry Survey Closed" messages click on your Points (top left-hand of screen) and you will very often find that though you got that msge you have, in fact, been given the points. I agree with you that this seems to happen every time you take part in one of those impossibly long surveys. We can't seem to do the right thing can we? We are told Never to Rush, Always take our time, give honest and thought out answers and when we do as told we get punished for doing so. Maybe Rewardia and those they run the survey for should sit down and have a chat about allowing us time to complete their surveys.

You are taking a walk in the park when you notice a person stumbling, do you assume they are intoxicated or do you ask if they are okay? This situation happened as I was at work and noticed a man stumbling on the lawn. Another worker also saw him and went to check on him and realized he was a coworker who was diabetic and needed assistance. What would you do?
Sandra C 12043
Of course, wouldn't anyone do that ?? Why would you even need to think about it ?? Just imagine yourself in that situation. How would you feel if people ignored you thinking yiou were drunk?? Thank heavens 2 cars stopped recently when my husband had a fall on the footpath, it was darkish, but they stopped and helped him up. He was only a few steps from home, so he was fine. I can't believe that you would have to stop and think before acting,.

Well, I am a 51-year-old female with terrible decision-making skills. (Had mental breakdown July 2019.) It has gotten to the point that I'm almost scared to decide anything. What I want is to have my boyfriend take over my decision-making so I avoid bad decisions. He isn't okay with it for his love for me gets in the way. How can I get him to understand that this is for the best?
Sandra C 12043
You need to seek professional help. Asking your boyfriend to make your decisions is putting too much stress on him and you may lose him. Get help from a professional and keep your relationship on a loving basis.

I was dating an addict for several years. I eventually kicked him out of my home. I have since joined a site of families of addicts. So my questions is - should you stay and support the addict when their behaviors impact your lifestyle? I left for my own mental health, but I have heard both sides. People that say if you love them you would stay, others like me who had enough and left. Curious about what others think?

An addict to what? Crosswords? sport? Please when asking a question make it clear. I assume you mean drug addict? There are many addictions.

I remember 20 plus years ago when landlines were still common, getting phone calls in the evening to complete a survey. It would go on sometimes for a good half hour and they were not paid surveys. So if I get frustrated from screening out, I think of the phone surveys I did for free and at least the online surveys pay something lol. Does anyone still get contacted to do an unpaid telephone survey, or are they a thing of the past?

In Australia, we have medicare to help cover health cost. Should there be medicare for your pets too?
Bugalugs
Why do so many people expect "The Government" - But READ "Other Taxpayers" to pay for everything now? People have children and they expext other Taxpayers to foot the cost of Childcare. Why? People are earning combined salaries of well over $AU200,000.00. Let them cut their wallets so that they can pay All their own Childcare Costs. Our Parents and Grandparents managed to have children and bring them up themselves and none of them had anything like the Incomes that people have today. Think on this, if you will. Today the Unions are asking for a Pay Rise of 7% for the Lowest Paid Workers, a rise which will make their Minimum Weekly Pay $AU812. Compare that to Old Age Pensioners who worked hard for 50 and more years, paid all their Taxes, raised their children and got No Financial Assistance from any Government were recently given an increase of 3.7% which brought the single OAP up to about $AU560 per week.
Yes, by all means extend what was, dishonestly, touted at the time as "Universal Health Care" aka Medicare to cover all Dental and Optical Expenses, but including Pet Care is a step too far. What will they be asking for next? That other Taxpayers pay for all their Food, Alcohol and Illegal Drugs? Their Motor Vehicle expenses?
Fortunately we still do not live in some sort of-Socialist-cum-Communist State such as China. Did you realise that under the Chinese Communist Party Dictatorship you have to get permission from it to move from your village/town/city of Birth to another? That is what those calling for "The Government", read TAXPAYERS to cover Pet Care under Medicare will end up getting.

After answering a discussion about marriage, I decided to start a discussion about independence after years of codependency. I have been in many toxic relationships, never a good one. I've been single for 3 years now, and I'm thinking about dating again, but I'm not ready to give up my independence. It seems like I only attract toxic people, so I'm very leary. It also seems like guys always want to rush into things. If you find yourself relating to how I feel, can you please give me...

I was devastated after my children's father, my first and only true love from the age of 15, told me after I finished a night shift as an RN that he had spent the night while I was at work and slept with a woman that he had met ( I hadn't a clue) when he played cricket on Saturday's and planned to move in with her immediately. I was also informed by him that "the sex was so good that they'd broke the bed". Yes there'd been problems in the marriage and the past year had been especially tough after moving and renovating an old house I'd inherited and the death of my beloved mum to cancer and trying to help my Dad through the loss of his lifetime partner. I don't know if I can say that I had a mental breakdown but I did try and kill myself which ended up costing me a 3 day stay in a ward in the hospital that I worked in but with a "special" nurse so that I wasn't left alone although thankfully NOT in the psychiatric ward as my boss wouldn't allow it, but I changed after that whole experience. I was 39, had 5 kids and I thought "well if HE doesn't want me I'll have to find somebody else who will appreciate me". This led to a short relationship with one of my soon to be ex husband's friend from Church who had recently got divorced from HIS wife. I look back on that experience, which I try hard NOT to do, which led me to remarry just 2 days after my divorce came through and that lasted under 6 months. I was still shell-shocked after my 1st husband's betrayed and CLEARLY not thinking straight and I NEVER dated or looked at another man again. That was almost 19 years ago and when my aged father tries to suggest, which he has many times over the years, for me to find someone, I just tell him that I'm happier with just my 5 cats! I did look after my 1st husband's dad until he died coming up to 5 years this July, and the shame that I felt over the fallout of both those marriages and the eventual loss of my home and bankruptcy, allowed me to be so busy to look for another someone even if I HAD wanted to, but I felt that I had nothing to offer someone anyway, as "why would they want ME?" I am TRULY happy, although "happy" is an emotion that I haven't felt for years, but perhaps content is a more appropriate definition of how I feel, with my animals for companionship, but I know that I would judge any relationship and make too many comparisons to my previous relationships to be able to be open to letting myself fall in love again. I know that this story sounds morose and moribund as do I, but you CAN be wounded so much that you shut down ALL future opportunities for happiness. However I wish the other commentors here all the best with their own romantic endeavours!

Should Public Transport Be Free? Well I think yes in urgent and/or important situations because they are very major, and we need to get there, that way, we need transport. Transport is never free. So we need to pay money even for urgent and important situations, that's unreasonable. And sometimes public transport shouldn't be free because it is good for our economy, and it grows our economy. Public Transport workers also need to earn money. In my opinion, public...

WHAT . Maybe AnynomousUser1234 needs to get a better translator or stop drinking the funny juice??? Maybe people need to get better organised. public transport is not expensive and if you are in dire financial hardship there are plenty of places to get a travel voucher.
Next people will be wanting free food and homes.... Get a job, get your life organised and realise nothing is free you need to work and pay your own way.

I have become so "into" doing surveys that I feel I can't go on to other activities until I've spent several hours each day taking surveys. Is this a healthy habit and a good way to make a few bucks, or is it an addiction?
Chosen
The lower the points the less I do. I still wonder who does the average less than 250 point ($0.25 cents !) per survey ???. Reading below it seems all of you. No doubt they will going down again shortly and be an average of 100 points (10 cents !) per survey soon and no doubt you will all keep doing them. Ummmmmm.

During COVID-19, all schools were closed and everyone had to work and study online. Usually almost everyone always wished to work from home but once they actually had to do it, that s when it wasn t so funny or comfortable as imagined. So now that we can go out again. If you have the option to send your kids to school or do the same thing online, what would you do?
Agonis
I am home-schooling my children and they have regular meetups with the other children that are also homeschooled in the area. I was already studying online when covid happened. I much prefer working and studying from home as there are fewer interruptions. My son has thrived in homeschooling as he has the option of choosing what he studies (within reason) he has additional needs and there are no small class options in the area so this works best for him and we did not utilize technology, he has been doing pen and paper, educational books and social skills by visiting the community centres to see other homeschooled families.

Why are the elders of millennials constantly talking about how "messed up" we are, when they were the ones who raised us ...?

You can only teach a child, not tell them how to think. Have Millennials thought about that? It's called taking responsibility!

At my workplace, I have noticed a change in how staff culture has changed around sickness and taking time off work to recover, has anyone else? Before the days of Covid, staff would come into work with colds and coughs and "battle on" to get the work done. Now I find the staff where I work are more likely to take sick leave for colds and practice more self-care despite ever-increasing workloads. Has staff culture changed in your workplace?
Lyn 78550
No, it has always been that way where I work. The doctor insisted. It has made no difference the Covid. I only work 1 day a week now as am retired. However, the doctor has always said if you are sick stay home as it is not fair on the patients....or him.

Australia and the UK share to a certain extent that the local pubs and bars are HUBS, where people get together and socialise. The increasing massive taxes on beer in both countries...and possibly elsewhere too along with covid have resulted in a massive shut-down of pubs. People cannot afford to drink...owners cannot afford to stay open...and aside from other issues...this is going to radically change our society and how we live what do you think?
Elizabeth H 165879
There is more to life in communities than just drinking. There might be less domestic violence for instance. there are hundreds of different ways to socialize than getting together for a drink. Some communities are being destroyed by excess drinking. Aboriginal women are being killed more often as a result. Publicans have exploited customers for far too long. It is time to enjoy each other's company without the effects of liquor.

What addictions do you have? Do you think it is a good addiction or a bad one? What do you do to stop this addiction? My personal addiction is tea. I drink about 15-20 cups of black tea a day. I love it and nobody ever told me that it is bad for me, so I don't think it's a bad addiction.

Chocolate! My biggest weakness but so far this year I have not had any,it's my journey to start eating healthier and look after myself better so as I age I won't be suffering like my mother is.

Aside from World Peace and Justice for All, (no, really, I do want that), I'd like a comfy pair of slippers/loafers, a good box of gooey chocolates and someone to help me tidy/arrange my house - so's I can keep it that way. Too much? Looking about me now, I think world peace would be easier to achieve, lol. We can only hope!
Dang Ling-bits.
Up all night! Be damned. The fat free loading bugger sneaks around peeping through bedroom windows to check on kids. He then breaks into houses to drink all the beer and snack on a few biscuits. I got arrested when I tried doing that type of thing. No one wanted me to come back the following year.

There are always friends like this, I'm telling a friend that I have a genetic disease, and then they say, you need to exercise more, you need to drink more water, and say something encouraging to me. To me, very annoying. Why don't they understand? This is a hereditary disease, not something that can be changed by exercise. You can't change what's in my body's genes, If it can be improved by doing some exercise, They are not called genetic diseases. But that person is...

These sorts of subjects are often on videos as well... these days.

"The happiest man on Earth" by Eddie Jaku. "The Auschwitz Photographer" by Maurizio Onnis and Luca Crippa. "The Tattooist of Auschwitz" by Heather Morris. If those three accounts of the Appalling things that can be done by Human Beings to Innocent men, women and children - 6.4 million members of the Jewish religion and another 7.3 millions simply because they did not fit in with the beliefs of a Dictator and his collaborators - do not convince you that these monsters should be stopped then nothing will.

I recently started study in NZ University. I am almost 33 years old. Furthermore, I believe education is an important part of our lives. And I feel good about it. I got very diverse feedback from others. Would you go back to school to educate yourself after 30s, 40s or even older? You have money and time for it - Would you go?

I have Three Wishes and Two of them are achievable.
One: Getting rid of the Scandal-plagued Morrison Federal Government - The Sports rorts, The Car Park rorts, The Extra-marital affairs (Adultery) by both Women and Men, the endless Lies, the subservience to the USA and US-inspired Confrontation towards China. To rid ourselves of the most Divisive, most Dishonest, Racist Government we will need to elect large numbers of Independents to control both Houses. That way they can force whichever minority government - be it Coalition or ALP is irrelevant for they are both as bad as each other.
Two: To rid ourselves of the current Inept, Dishonest State Liberal Government of South Australia and, as with Canberra, elect large numbers of Independents to control both Houses of the SA Parliament and force the minority government - be it ALP or Liberal is irrelevant because one is as bad as the other - to act in the Interests of All SA citizens and not just their mates.
Three: To declare Australia Neutral - we can, and should, be friends with all, as we used to be until the Morrison Federal Government handed Australia over to the USA and then exacerbated the solvable problems with China by joining in with the USA's Policy of Confrontation.

Should we as parents be allowed to discipline our child without being told we are abusing our children? For example: if my child swears or does something really naughty, should I be allowed to smack his hand without it being abuse? Or is disciplining our children with a smack on the hand abusive now? Just curious to see what other parents and people think? I do timeout for my kids and a sticker chart but sometimes i think it doesn't help at all.
Sabine V
There is a difference between abuse and discipline. l was a whipped, now that's abuse. A smack is a smack and quite often you will only smack them once or twice and never again.

The term narcissist gets thrown around a lot these days as a negative slur to label people on social media, reality TV and politics. And studies show narcissistic traits are on the rise with 10% of us exhibiting traits like self-obsession or entitlement. But just how prevalent is narcissism really?

Narcissist? Murderers, paedophiles, cult leaders.........It is about those who have no moral values and feel better if they have control or belief that they are better (even in an imaginary world).

Old School? It is where your Teachers were only required to actually Teach you to Read, Write and do Arithmetic! They were NOT, as they are today by Lazy Parents, expected to actually bring up the children as well. Old School was when Parents taught their children Manners, how to behave but at the same time to ask endless questions which the parents should answer truthfully - no matter how awkward! To show respect towards others until that person shows they deserve none.
Old School was when Parents made sure their children were fed before going to school and at least one of them was at home when their child/children got home from school. Where Parents - no matter their Race, Ethnicity, Religion - ensured their children actually went to school.
Old School is a combination of what Parents, Children and Teachers should do. Today far too many Parents think the Teachers should do it all.

You invite the whole class to your child's 6th birthday and when you arrive you are told by one of the parents I've added my 4 year old to the party and I've paid for them to join. When handing out the thank you bags, the parent also asks for one for the 4 year old that wasn't invited. Am I wrong to thing this is rude?
Christine M 323842
When it is your birthday party, it is your choice as to who attends. This party was obviously held at a play centre or something, where you pay by head for catering and the activities are selected by the child and appropriate to their particular peer group.
If a parent chooses to attend the venue ( for whatever reason) and bring siblings, that is fine, however this does not make them part of the party, and that should be made very clear to the siblings.
Siblings etc do not get to eat the party good (order your own food for your group), they do not play the party games ( create your own fun), nor are they entitled to a lolly bag at the end ( if there are spares, they may be offered).
This is how it has run in my social circles when the children were young.
Children are entitled to have a special day with their friends without some annoying little tacker imposed upon them.
This woman was rude and entitled and made an awkward situation for you.

A colleague recently had three vehicles stolen plus other property by three teenagers who are not locals but travel regularly to our town to commit robberies and wilful damage. A policeman was seriously injured when one rammed a stolen car into his police car. Police state they are well known and have a long list of offences going back some years. How are they able to continue their crime sprees 'just for fun' with no regard for the trauma, costs and damage they cause?...
Jenny L 591463
Arrest the parents, casterate them so they can't have any more brats. Throw the teenagers into boot camp for a few years. Unfortunately the crimes are being done by children as young as 8. It is out of control and some thing seriously needs to be done. They need to be accountable and no taking things off value isn't going to work as the parents don't have any thing of value. Come on they don't even value their children, letting them run around at night stealing cars.

I'm not talking love affairs, but do you have an interest, hobby, work area or cause that you are/ were truly passionate about? It used to be a saying that if you find something you love to do, you will never work a day in your life. I've always thought this would be great, but never really found anything. I've worked in areas I have had a vague interest, but it's always been more for survival than passion. Have you ? What was / is it?

I sure do. I love bonsais. I had several but had to get rid of them when we moved from WA to VIC. I will start again someday when we are settled in one place. I also love crocheting. I have quite a collection that I will sell when we can have some sort of market stall. Hopefully things will get back to normal so that it can happen.

What is you're opinion on today's banking system? Do you trust them? Do you think they put their shareholders first ... before customers? Notice how low the interest is on money in you're bank account! Credit card - interest too high. Banking CEO,s paid to much. How can the ordinary person win?
Grommie
my opinion, backed by English as it is written, Zing, is you have not shown a plural by putting in an apostrophe.
as for Banks., Banking CEOs' emoluments... it's what the market says it needs.
Credit card interest rates reflect the risk. Those risks now are greater with computer generated rippings-off.
oh and it's your not you're... you're means you are. and too not to re CEOs.
Banks are heading for the cashless society. It started with EFT-POS in NZ in September 1984, for those who remember, or in my case were involved.
Criminals have already spotted that cash won't be king, it's time the honest citizens spotted it, too.
Never waste a good crisis. Banks used Covid-19 as the excuse to close branches.
You can't beat Banks.. so buy shares in them and stop moaning.

Are people in general getting ruder, more selfish etc. or are people behaving generally in the same manner, but I m just more sensitive to it as I get older?
'smee,SWQ!
I believe it depends on the demographic Catherine! - If you learnt manners 50 or so years ago or more - you are, I believe generally quite polite but for those educated in the 80's onwards they're taught they are entitled and how dare you expect them to be polite (or anything as the world owes them a living and you'll not get in their way-smack on childish bottoms? No Way!)

As a former teacher I get very concerned when I hear so many demands for things to be taught in school which I believe should be the role of parents. In the meantime parents complain about falling standards in basic reading, spelling, writing and mathematics. What makes a parent think a young 20 something unmarried, childless teacher is better equipped than the parent to teach things like diet and nutrition, gardening, morals, sexuality, driving, swimming, camping, etc. What do...
Rod R 101788
Teachers educate kids, parents raise kids. There is some crossover but both have their roles in creating decent humans. Kids learn from each other as well.

can carnivores change their diet - no?! - can herbivores change their diet no?! - can omnivores (humans) change their diet - no?! - humans are eating the planet up - in front of all are eyes (global warming) - humans can not agree on a plan to stop the carnage. How much time do you think humans have left on this planet - since we are all omnivores (and that is not going to change)?!
Stephan S
The main cause of all our problems is overpopulation. There are only so many recources on this planet. There is only so much drinkable water and land to grow food. And no matter what enviromental policies you put in place, more people cause more pollution..The only way out of it is srict worldwide birth control.Maximum 2 children per family

I heard on talk back radio that some schools are planning to stop mothers and fathers days because some children may not have a mother or a father. I don't agree with this as the children really enjoy these days and if they don't have a parent they usually have a grandmother aunt or uncle. What do you think?
Margaret C 68385
What sort of lunatic is advocating this nonsense? I didn't have a father after I was 11 - he died - but I didn't grow up all warped and twisted because my friends did. Teachers should stick to teaching the three R's. There are kids who can't read, write or do simple maths and their general knowledge leaves a lot to be desired. So glad I'm at the older end of my life - too many stupid people in the world advocating crap thee days.

Technology for all its benefits is a great thing. But how many times have you seen glued to their screens, constantly? A lot of this is because of Facebook, that keeps everybody connected, whatever we're doing, while in the background quietly gathering our data and making millions of dollars in advertising. And of course partnering very nicely with Google.. These devices are great, sure. But look at what we are giving up, just to be interconnected!!
Sandra C 12043
I have a mobile phone but rarely use it.It's therre for emergencies. Just go out to a nice restaurant and see the people texting someone on the other side of the table. Think it's the height of ignorance to use phone at the table when dining out unless you work for an emergency service. Drs, nurses, ambulance or police etc.

As humans we think if we attain something like an award, it will equate to making us happy but sadly this isn't the case. Have you ever won an award? Were you disappointed by how short-lived the joy was?
Helen A 395807
It depends on the award and how hard you worked for it. I was awarded the Howarth and Howath Prize (correct spelling) for Financial Management 3B. I had not studied economics or accounting in school and so picked it up at uni as a mature aged student. My closest challenger was a lad who was working for his dad's accounting business and was an entitled turd. I was working in the fishing industry at the time. We both went into the exam with a score of 96% and I scored 99% on my exam. I still smile at this because the students had no idea who I was and had their noses out of joint that their silver spoon boy didn't win. One for the working class!

I have noticed that the price of fresh fruit this summer is very expensive, a time of the year, when there's plenty of fruit, it should be a lot cheaper than this, I feel the supermarkets are really ripping us off. What would you say?
John 1362447
For those of you shopping in Australia electricity cost has risen by 40% over the last two years because the Government is hell bent on going to renewable power generation and on last nights news they said it will go up at least 24% IN THE COMING YEAR. This drive to renewables is going to cost a fortune and it feeds through all levels of production. In Qld they just built a battery storage to capture home Solar generated power that would otherwise go to waste, it cost $200million and if called on in a blackout it will last from 2 - 4 hours and if not called on then if the batteries are charged then the power will still go to waste.
So maybe the Supermarkets are ripping us off but price increases are being fueled by this mad rush to renewables when there are much cheaper sources of power that don't only work when the sun shines or the wind blows. I'd like to mention that the two major Supermarkets are US owned, maybe we should think about getting them back into Australian hands. Your Superannuation, $4.5trillion is mostly invested in overseas countries, have you seen the movement in the $A v $US in the last week or so, almost a 4% improvement, that equates to a 4% loss in those funds?? could do much better here if we put our mind to it.

My favourite Christmas memory is the family Christmas Party. All my mother's family would get together the first Saturday of December. We would have a BBQ cooked by my uncle and pudding made by my nanna, Whoever found the penny got a prize. We would sit by the tree and my uncles would hand out the presents.

every year its different but this year my little grandson Nova, and he lost a tooth yesterday because it was Christmas the tooth fairy left 20 dollars ,i was in good spirits but anyways after the unwrapping session this morning ,he asked what did Santa bring me, I told him I had been naughty and Santa didn't come, he put on a frown and went into his room to look at his prezzies i thought ,but he came back with his tooth fairy money so i could have a present, I was so impressed and proud i went down to the servo to get him some ROBLOX credit cost me 15 i gave that to him then he said i could spend 10 dollars of that 20 and give him 10 back so he doesn't upset the tooth fairy, so now i owe him 10

Have you thought about living full-time in an RV? We finally decided to do it and are enjoying it immensely. We can travel anywhere and stay for as long as we like. The warmer, the better!
Carolyn K 714554
It would be great except for if you get sick and need more room and a place close to amenities (hospital, doctor, medical help).

My young neighbour came round to ask if I had a Blower she could borrow to clear grass cuttings... I said no, but I had a broom she could use...she gave me a strange look...smiled and went away....she would be horrified to find nearly all my power tools have a long wire that you have to plug in to make them work...and manual tools that require no power at all...AND they all work fine and are easy to use.... But everything needs to "powered"...either a filthy 2 stroke...
BLACK LIVES MATTER
It is called MATERIALISM (aka CAPITALISM). Have we gone crazy? YES! Hopeful fossil fuels do not run out during my lifetime - since Earth is the only planet we CAN live on - LOL!

Have you used AI to help make decisions? Whether it be purchasing goods, or for future investment plans e.g. where to retire, financial and superannuation advice? Paying off a mortgage ? Downsizing? Is it safe to use AI tools for these important decisions?
Lorraine M 1109115
NO I don't trust AI
It gives out too much false information
too easy to hack
Easier for scammers
costs jobs

An inability to say "no" can contribute to being broke by leading to overspending on things you don't need or want, taking on too much work, and prioritizing others' needs over your own financial goals. This often stems from a fear of disappointing others, guilt, or a desire to please, and it directly impacts your finances when you say "yes" to impulse purchases, expensive social events, or favours that drain your resources. What would you say?
NotFriedLikeMost
People are broke because they do not live within their means. They've become addicted to NOW NOW NOW and with technology this allows for impulses to be capitalized upon...over and over again. People are slaves to debt and work....thus...slaves to over-consumerism because they say they "deserve" things. Which is insane.

1. If you start a survey and it moves to a new survey provider, shut it down, you will not get points. 2. If you spend more than 1 minute on 'pre-screening' shut it down. 3. If they are asking if you earn more than a million a year, shut it down, what millionaire will do a survey? 4. Do not give personal details such as full name, bank details, email address, phone number! 5. Do not click on links associated with surveys! 6. Webcam? No I wouldn't risk it, to...

I wonder and seek advice regarding one of my family members applied to a job where I am working currently. I feel it is something difficult to work at the same place with my family member. Is it possible I can discuss with my employer to place them in a different section? OR I should just ignore and work as usual. I look forward to seeing if anyone has experienced the same. Please suggest. Kishore

Getting along with anyone is 'Mind over Matter' if you think about it. We could ALL get along Anywhere and Everywhere on the earth if people would just make up their mind to do so. How do you think Jehovah's Witnesses get along so well? We're all imperfect people. The difference is we follow Jesus' example while on earth, and follow the examples given in the Bible, overlook small hurtful things that happen, talk to the person about large hurtful things, and forgive them all! Is it easy? NO! But it's required to live or work happily with family, friends or acquaintances, and it's required by our God, Jehovah! ;-D

It usually splits people into the "that would solve misunderstandings" camp and the "absolutely terrifying" camp. Lots of fun stories and "what if" scenarios come from it.

no. Passwords would be useless.
Although if it was just how it was from day one. I don't think anyone would be able to comprehend what it would be like.
So I was saying they're out there to get us with all there smart gadgets, Phones, Watches, Glasses, ear plugs the list goes on. The elite are trying to achieve being able to read their peasants thoughts still it may be here soon. Maybe our Neo robots will be able to do it if the smart earbuds can't.

Do you have a favourite childhood book or movie that you remember and enjoy as an adult? It s interesting that some stick more than others, and the lessons or themes that people enjoyed vary significantly. For me, I enjoyed the Harry Potter series the books first as the movies were not out and then seeing each of the movies as they came out at the cinema. When I was younger than this, the Enid Blyton series with the faraway tree was my other favourite (no movies on...

The book I remember the best is a Golden Book titled: 'Pokey Little Puppy'. I don't know why I remember it so well, except that the 'puppy' was very cute! ;-D

Should the government put a cap on the number of Airbnb s and holiday homes in suburbs and towns to free up housing for purchase and rental?
Andrew C 287196
The government simply needs to make it illegal to own more than the one house you actually live in. It would solve numerous such issues.

We've all heard it When are you getting married? , When are you having kids? , or Why aren t you settling down yet? But what if your happiness doesn't align with those expectations? What if your version of a meaningful life looks different traveling the world, building a career, creating art, living alone, or just being?
Liane H
Be that rebel without a cause .. it's you and you alone who deals with the outcome . Take advice if you like it , or leave it if you don't .Find your tribe , have fun ,live life the way you want to do it without it adversely affecting others wherever possible. Just be true to your own morals and follow your heart. You were put on this earth as your 'Self ' so how can it be selfish to live it as you ?

If you're like me and you're an animal owner, have you noticed your vet bills have increase dramatically. We certainly did. The reason for this is Corporates are buying out Veterinarians clinics. Our vets here in Canada are selling out to large Corporates. They sell out for a small profit. After they sell, nothing changes except how much you pay. In Canada, they don't need to let people know they are Corporate. So people still think it is independently own. Corporate...

I have a cat, he has his own bank account.. I put in $10 a month. If he needs a vet I hope he has enough in his bank account. If he never needs one, he can spend it on anything he needs !

I remember the Instamatic Camera (Kodak) and the Polaroid Camera (Polaroid) in the USA - in the 1960s - the first selfies in the USA started by the Silent Generations and pushed to new heights by the Baby Boomer Generations

Rewardia has a lot of ads, and they don t bother me at all except for that little bunny .it freaks me out. It s bringing back too many childhood memories of my parents hunting rabbits at Kangaroo Valley then having to eat rabbit stew for dinner ugh! It's funny how little things trigger buried memories I will be glad when Easter is over.
Sonia 1455929
I think the little bunny that runs across the screen is cute. I dislike ads but okay with the bunny.

Do you think everyone should get a second chance? Why or why not? Are there situations where forgiveness and redemption should be encouraged, or do some actions go beyond the possibility of a second chance?
BLACK LIVES MATTER
Strictly depends on the situation and whether you are a firm believer in giving individual(s) 'second chances'! In family matters - NO! In personal relationships - depending on 'how much' trust between the two of you was violated - MAYBE. In the political world or criminal world - NEVER! In trivial matters (of no importance) - YES! I don't believe in 'second chances' per se, unless I am the lucky recipient of a second chance (LOL)!

We drink it. We bath in it. We wash our clothes with it! The UNITED NATIONS says, by 2050, around 5 Billion people could face water shortages. Everyday in rich countries like Australia, we take water too much for granted. In times of drought we probably appreciate water more, when there is less rain. How do you think your nation would cope if you had to drastically cut back on water consumption?
Bugalugs
It is easy to not use water if you just think a bit. Yes, the makers of automatic dishwashers try to convince you that they use less water than Hand washing but then they would wouldn't they? They are trying to sell them. Do you really need to Pre-Rinse dishes before putting them into that Water and Energy sapping machine? Do you Really need to have your dishes sterilised? Do you really need to have them heated to boiling point to dry them? The answer is: NO. We wash our dishes ONCE a day, by hand and we use, at most 8 litres of water and enough Energy to have the Water at about 45C.

When a chronic disease is diagnosed in a member of your family, it can be overwhelming, especially when choosing treatment. Do you choose the public system and suffer the extreme side effects or go private, which will take a large portion of your retirement savings, however give better quality and longevity of life?
Tupulua S
family love is the best treatment one can have . Yes money is everything, but does not buy love. I have a friend who needs help every week for his appointment Make it my mission to take him to his appointment and bring him back home for love.
