In this technological world, where machines are replacing by human power in each corner of life. We are surrounded by machines, and now restaurant owners want to replace staff to robot servers.
Christina C 466456
Yeah why not. A robot wont cough/breathe covid onto my food, pass on hepatitis or be rude.
In Japan they have these robot waiters which are remotely connected to customer service people - some of which have disabilities, so it gives them a job plus merges the human aspect of customer service into the android. I thought that was quite neat.

Do you find the grammar used in public statements is atrocious these days? I cringe nearly every day at the obvious errors made in newspaper, television and radio reports. Today an instruction to a group I am associated with stated that for a performance the Band was to wear "Uniform: Marching Shirt no hats, pants, shoes etc". This was written by a lawyer who I would have thought would have a high standard of English. (I commented "Wow, that will get the...

Over the past months/years we have all read just so so many negative inputs BUT yes we do all get great surveys, we do get to give our input, and we do get full points. Amongst my best was giving my input to our National Road Safety Program and also one re the best Chocolate I have eaten. Your favourite and best survey is/was on?
Daniel T 626103
I quite like the short surveys about new product or advertisement concepts, they usually pay reasonably well. Also the Red surveys usually give me 30 points compensation when screened out.

Since I have all kinds of latent criminal behavior in me (HAHA) - the movie where the ending completely surprises me is "Thief" starring James Caan (1981).
OKIE K
How about a book instead, it's just the one where the ending literally made me do a double take and really really stuck with me. It's Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier - they did make a movie of it though,I think with big name actors even, but I haven't seen it. I do a lot more reading!

Recently, I read a report stating that the production of making an Electric vehicle was more damaging to the environment than the production of petrol driven cars. And a well maintained small petrol car in its lifetime was just as clean to the environment as an EV. I own a reliable older Toyota Corolla that keeps on going and going and think that it would be friendlier to the Environment than the current Electric vehicles for sale. What do you think about Electric...
Linda C
I'm not impressed by them. You still have to make the cars and that involves the usual stuff. You have to generate more electricity to accommodate the increase in electric cars and of course outlets all over the place. I guess we need the cons and negatives to really understand if there are any actual benefits. Of course, the world is probably running out of oil so this could be the impetus to change the fuel. My car is 20 years old and I just had it serviced and checked and it is in good nick. Mind you I have not even reached 70000ks yet so I do not drive much and most of those k's were in the first 10 years. lol

Reputation matters. As social beings we re hardwired to care what others think. A good reputation takes time to build, but can be destroyed by just one misstep or allegation. For many, the online world turns reputation damage into inescapable trauma. When reputation takes a hit, do you think it can be restored?
APB
Reputation in the real world (remember that) is hard won and defended...online variants are laughable...so much can be twisted and distorted..or just open and unsupported lies

Falling prey to a con artist can be a humiliating and often expensive exercise. Many cons end in costly court cases, even imprisonment, and that's just for the victims. The perpetrators often appear to be charismatic and charming, but they re far more likely to be narcissistic risk-takers who revel in power and control. Have you ever met anyone of such charismatic and complex character?

When we think about rising the property market, we should think of our demand in our future generations. There s no point of increasing the prices of our rentals when we know it takes time to find people who want to move in the house, but if we low our price people will always work hard in order to pay the pills and to have food on the table

Just for our health's sake, we need regular check-ups at the doctors. With women needing mammograms after 50 or so, I once told my GP that checking for breast lumps would be easier if there could be a dummy that women could feel that sort of thing and was told that there is such a thing, but this practice could not afford it. Wouldn't you think governments should pay for such things?
Michelle S 553303
As its 19 years to the day since my own dear mother died from breast cancer at the young age of 62, I would agree that existing products such as the one referred to SHOULD be made available. There's a lot of government money spent on utter nonsense that surely funding should be made available to save many, many women just like my own mum. Thanks for reading.

All gambling - yes, including Lotto, Keno and Scratchies, advertising should be banned. Of course no government will ever do so because our politicians are every bit as addicted to the Revenue raised as those addicted to gambling! The advertising is so unbelievably hypocritical, At the end of all those endless advertisements there is always tacked on what are little more than asides, a throwaway few words rattled off at such speed no-one can actually hear what is being said "Gamble Responsibly", Don't spend more than you can afford" and other nonsense. The advertisers simply tack those words on because they are required to do so. I am not sure which TV channels "Shirly H" is writing about but we have not seen any of these ads during Children's programmes,

Recently, one of our local rural roads was reduced in speed to 80kph - this was because it was cheaper than fixing the road in the first place. The road is still terrible to drive on, but it appears the city has first preference when it comes to fixing up the roads...a local freeway was 'smoothed' over a few weeks ago, a total waste of money - we have a lot of dirt roads round here, which could have benefited from the material used to 'fix' the freeway. I wonder just how many people here on this forum are aware that since October 2021 that the Australian government can hack, quite legally, your social media accounts and alter and delete them for any reason whatsoever? It's called the Identify and Disrupt Bill which was passed at 2am on a Wednesday late in that month. Go and look it up on the Australian government website if you don't believe me. I was told this by my son who happened to be working with some Barristers who were visited by a man called Arthur, whom our previous female Premier in NSW had been in a relationship with at that time, just so people don't think I'm writing this with the view to commit some kind of fraud! I cannot watch MSM any longer because my research outside of this alleged "media sources" has led me to scientific research and resulting evidence leaving no room for me to conclude anything other than the following: that what is "news" content, at least as it relates to the"magic potion" killing and maiming people across the planet, is simply propaganda and theatre. I did not draw this conclusion without facts empirically derived from Researchers, Doctors and Scientists of many varied disciplines and I KNOW that my own government has lied and continues to lie about their own involvement in this charade. This is backed up in previously confidential documents detailing the Australian Military's involvement from decades ago of weaponising biological organisms through gain of function research and funding the same. I can say with clarity that freedom has never been SO under threat as it is now, not only because the government can come in and change your own words and remove them as they see fit, but because of the terms "misinformation" and"disinformation", but WHO decides this? I can see Big Tech's involvement but who among you are aware of the infiltration of WEF members, of whom Big Tech plays a leading role, in terminology used to discredit certain viewpoints. Just as the CIA coined the term "conspiracy theorist" to describe someone who thinks outside of the mainstream narrative and make them out to be "kooks", so too have Google, You Tube Twitter etc, who are all partners in this globalist agenda for a NWO where there will be no choices, no ownership of anything including your shoes, and certainly no privacy or freedom! If we lose the right to voice our own opinions today they will be gone tomorrow and NEVER return! If we don't want to live in a smart grid with cameras recording our every movement as it already is in China and adopt their credit score system, we all need to think about what it will be like for our children and THEIR children if we don't now say that enough is enough! Thanks for reading this.

Why do people pay good money to buy ripped and torn Jeans that make them look like they can't afford new clothes, because I don't care how broke I am , I refuse to leave the house wearing rags.
Anneliese
Yes I personally don't like the look either, but fashion is what it is. It's the same as the messy hair look or beach hair look, people spend money on products to recreate a look they can achieve naturally because they want to appear effortless because it's seen as desirable, when actually they are the exact opposite. I guess I just don't care enough about fashion.

I have just spent about 45 minutes washing my car, and oh my lord, the amount of white paint where people have scraped my car getting in and out of a parking space is unbelievable. How hard is it to pull into a parking space and back out without touching the car next to you? I think it would be extremely helpful if the shopping centres installed CCTV so we could see who was doing this. I know if I have a bad enough one I get to pay the excess for any repairs that need...
MoB
I park as far away from the shops as possible. Most cars that have trouble getting into a shopping centre carpark are four wheel drives. I think shopping centre carparks should have a separate area for these big cars to park in. They don't only cause trouble when they are parking but make it impossible for a small car to see around them when trying to get out of a car park.

Do you think traveling to a foreign county is a good idea? Would you need to speak some of that country's language or just get by on guessing what is going on? I have been to some countries like China, S. Korea, and Thailand and I found that most of the places I toured in those places the people could speak some English. I felt comfortable there. My trip to Hawaii was cancelled last year and I do want to go while I am still young enough to drag my bag behind me but there will need to be next to no Covid out there. Should children be allowed to have actual real decision making say in large life changing or altering decisions that will affect their families future? Such as 1.) Where a family will be moving and/or purchasing their new home. 2.) Should a family purchase a different model or style or size of vehicle then they normally would to help with world issues such as pollution, gas costs, or parking structures/lots to store all of a city's vehicles? 3.) Types of groceries or foods...
Paula J 395266
This has to be a joke. Children are just that, children, and to my mind children should be seen and not heard. Why would they have a say? They don't earn a living, they go to school to learn. It seems to me that parents do not want the responsibility of rearing children and want children to rear themselves. How can a child possibly have the maturity, experience and knowledge to even be given consideration in making life changing decisions. Children deserve a childhood free from such things, no worry or responsibility, that will come soon enough. If an adult feels the need to check with a child for permission to lead his or her life then perhaps they should remain childless. Is it any wonder there are so many horrid bratty children out there, they don't have a parent they have another friend. Stop frightening them with climate change, possible war, sustainability and all that other rubbish. Why scare them with things that might never happen. I remember the Cuban missile crisis and asked my father "will there be a war", he told me I was not to worry about it or be concerned but to let adults sort it out. Indeed they did and my father was right, as a child I had no need to worry. Do not put grown up heads on little shoulders. Let them be children.

My grandmother had 2 small children during WW2 and they fled Malaya and ended up in Western Australia, she lost a baby on the journey. My grandpa ended up a prisoner for years. Any way my grandma was one of the first in Australia to put strawberries into vanilla ice cream. She made quite a bit of money for her self and her 2 children. They waited until grandpa could come back and then went back to the UK. My parents settled back here once they were married. I am proud to say I am in charge of our finances, I pay all the bills and I know where every cent has gone or where it needs to be. i believe they go by the council valuations on setting the price for houses. Its the council that is at fault, making the land more valuble which in turn they set the price for how much people pay in land rates.

If you ask your child to keep plate in sink or do laundry is it wrong? Are parents responsible until they turn 18?
Michelle S 553303
I had 5 children who are now aged between 28 and 39. When they were growing up I and my now ex husband had his Italian father living with us. He had worked so hard all his life after being a prisoner of war in WW2 and became medically retired by the time my eldest daughter was born and she is now 35. Because his wife abandoned him AND the 2 children who were 3 and 5 at the time and there wasn't a pension available for him to recieve in order to be able to keep his family together, the children stayed with grandparents and great grandparents on their mothers side, and sometimes in the Catholic orphanages which were very cruel as was their maternal GM. By the time I met my children's father at age 15 Giuseppe would leave at 4:30 am and bot arrive back until about 6pm at night and then go to bed and start all over again. I mention this because it's important to the story. I didn't fully realise until about 20 years ago when I gained a little perspective and started to head into my 40's just what a wonderful man I'd been blessed to know. As I had more children my FIL would do the laundry, being fully retired now, the cooking, a lot of the cleaning and garden maintenance, including having a large vegetable garden that fed us fresh vegetables. Because of this being waited on hand and foot my children didn't learn to do the chores which I had learned to do, without argument, since I was a very young child. I am not lying but stating a truth that my husband grew up very lazy and unmotivated and this, combined with their grandfathers constant help, prevented my children from developing a disciplinet hat I had in spades having come from a typical nuclear family of the 1960's with traditional gender roles. My children have however developed their own discipline and now are functioning members of society and appreciate just what a blessing they did have growing up with a grandparent living with them. Giuseppe too got what HE wanted: :a family with children he could help raise and be at home with to watch them grow! My children talk about their grandfather often and his ashes sit not 2 feet from where I write this in bed having lost him at age 97 3 years ago. But children enjoy getting mum a nappy or "folding" up a face washer or carrying swmething for whatever parent is taking care of the child at the time. It gives them happiness and pride in their achievements and that's ALWAYS a good thing! Thank you for reading this and have a nice day.

We don't need ANY Olympics. Waste of time and money. If athletes consder this their job, then they can PAY to go to work like everyone else. Yoda's philosophy about sensing the future...Go Yoda! ;-)
Yoda : Premonitions, premonitions. These visions you have... Anakin : They are of pain, suffering. Death. Y : Yourself you speak of, or someone you know? A: Someone. Y : Close to you? A : Yes. Y : Careful you must be when sensing the future Anakin. The fear of loss is a path to the dark side. Anakin : I won't let these visions come true, Master Yoda. Yoda : Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed that is. A: What must I do, Master Yoda? Y : Train yourself to let go... of everything you fear to lose. Darth Sidious : I have waited a long time for this moment, my little green friend. At last, the Jedi are no more. Yoda : Not if anything to say about it I have!

However, after my initial family names had been put in, hints suddenly appeared against each name. Now, 26 family members have grown into a family tree of 1800 names and growing! Genealogy is addictive! Are you interested in genealogy? Do you belong to a genealogy website or...

I never uses Ancestry.com before is because I don't too much about my family and where they came from. To me I would like to use Ancestry.com to find out who are my family is and where they a came from.

I find so many young ones nowadays are always on sick leave or just ring in sick. I have over 100hrs owing to me. I'm hardly ever sick but when I do I feel guilty ringing in. I know I must get over that feeling guilty. Oh well, at least I'm reliable.
Edith v
Self pitying too.If you are genuinely sick there is no reason to feel guilty taking sick leave. However as such a reliable worker your boss could look at paying you for some of the days owing to you .I always did as an employer .

Should the government make COVID-19 vaccination compulsory as many business are?
Margarret F
Absolutely NOT compulsory. The flu vaccination system works without being compulsory - why should anything else change this procedure. Malaria kills millions of children per year too and measles is much more contagious. There is much to consider.

Here in Australia most of the population is in major cities. Australia is known as a wide brown land. Is there a willingness to move to more rural areas if fast rail ever goes ahead or jobs created in large rural towns. Could people in other countries reflect on their situation if it reflects this situation.
Carolyn 395035
I live in a rural area and absolutely love it. Rail - hmmm - what rail??? - We used to have one in Cowra, NSW, but the government decided to close it because it was not making enough money. Same thing happened with the airport. Now the only way people can get here is by train to Bathurst and bus the rest of the way, or you can drive the four hour drive. With due respect to Council, they need to try and get our train lines open again.

Well it's been a roller coaster of a ride this year globally. I have met some great people on Rewardia and hope next year will be positive for everyone. I thought I would go out with a poem that sums up a typical Christmas for our family. Aunty May has come to stay with Uncle Bob close by her side, I let out a groan, the kids all moan and my partner's gone to hide! The pavlova's gone flat, I can't find my cat and the turkey is horrid and dry. The pool's sprung a...

Although this year was terrible for many who have lost their lives but we will cheer those who have overcome their adversity & are here to celebrate the New Year with some trepidation but also hope that we will become stronger & more caring for our family, friends and neighbours

I love self-checkout. It's quick, easy and I don't have to deal with other human beings. Perfection. I know some people detest self-checkout though. I am not one of them.
Phyrephly
I'm afraid I don't have very much luck with the machines, they don't seem to even what to take my money! You can hear the machines moaning when I walk up to them! And yeah, agree with David S, jobs being eroded.

Traditional meat, appropriate Italian cheeses and spices. Potato and spinach would work as well, plus the cheese and spices. Potato and cheddar actually turns it into a perogie. Whatever floats your boat. All sounds good to me. 😉🤤

The best deals are usually immediately after Christmas. This because the retail stores want to sell the materials they have overstocked on. And want to do this as quickly as possible. What is your experience?
Jenny L 591463
Merry Christmas every one, let's hope there is more compassion and love in the world in 2026. Have a great time no matter where you are and with what you have planned for the festive season, Good luck, stay calm and enjoy good foods with family and friends.

No matter how good-looking a car may be, safety should always come first. As well as looking out for features such as ABS, traction control, and airbags, you should also check the safety record. What features or characteristics do you value most in a vehicle?
Linda C
I like the older cars with manual transmissions and wind down windows which are plus for safety. If you break down you can push the car and even push start it. If you go into water you can wind the windows down and get out not so in electric cars etc.
There is so much going on in the new cars that it is distracting the drivers.

Dear Rewardians! We would like to introduce two new games that we have added today to the Play and Earn section. The first game is "Hexagon Fall," where the goal is to remove blocks to let your hexagon fall down. The second game is "Find Me," where you have to find the specific player in the crowd before time runs out. Since we have just added these games today, they haven't had time to gain a rank yet and are currently at the bottom of the list.
Chris M 626341
I see Thomas is at the top of the leader board for Hexagon fall...just wondering how many points you accumulated? I am sitting at no.5 and for my top scoring game I only got 2 points! Hardly worth the effort.
The Find Me game seems to cheat...I click on the man multiple times before it finally registers and then only ever seem to get 2 points.

What food do you love that other people seem to think is odd? Or what food do you loathe that others seem to love? I really like coriander (aka cilantro for the US users) as do my sisters. I use it a lot when making Thai dishes. My adult 'kids' hate it, to them, it tastes like soap. (clearly their dad's gene's influencing it) I can't stand olives or oysters, but they are both quite popular with others. How about you ? Do you have foods you love/ hate...
Rebecca B 614374
I love most seafood but do not like oysters. The appearance of them and the texture is revolting. Yet many people seem to think they're marvellous. I also think kangaroo is disgusting too. Plenty fellow Aussies seem to think it's marvellous, but to me it smells and tastes like it's off.

I had a MIL from hell. Enough said on her. The daughter was much the same, though cut from the same cloth as my Mum used to say. My girlfriend's MIL actually was another. My friend had 2 young boys and all were little surfers (I live in Queensland, Australia). MIL decided they should not have the blonde curls (the hair was not that long, and they looked lovely) and so she buzz cut it all off. I would have never trusted her with my kids again as she knew...
Janet 1621979
In general I have found most In Laws are what you make them. I have seen MIL's that have been very pushy ..... but you just have to set boundries. If your In Laws are doing something you are not happy with - be honest AND TELL THEM (politely). Something like "I appreciate what you are saying ... but these are my kids - my rules". If a MIL is to cut your child's hair without FIRST checking with you - I can assure you she would NOT DO IT TWICE in my house. She would get very cool treatment from me. I do agree that it is often a MIL who is not happy about who her son has chosen..... a very stupid woman I say.

My favorite TV series is 'The Night Stalker' (1974 - 1975). My second favorite TV series is 'The Prisoner' (1967 - 1968). My third favorite TV series is 'The Avengers' starring Honor Blackman (1961 - 1964) - she left the series after the third season. The TV series 'The Avengers' ran from 1961 - 1969!
Pat C 618241
My whole family were fans of the "Vera" series. I've seen some of them again recently and found them much more "real" than any of the new cop series. Seems just like what has happened to the ABC. They take away more and more of their funding and they can't afford good writers and actors to play them. My brother-in-law still chortles over " Fawlty Towers", and "Life of Brian" endlessly.

"Pluggers" are defined as rural, blue-collar workers who live a typical working-class lifestyle, accompanied by a mentality characteristic of the G.I. and Baby Boomer generations. If you think you are a "Plugger", what is it that you do, that makes you think you qualify?
Gigi
You know Aussies and Americans have very different ways of saying things. Constantly am I confronted with a word I'd have no way of knowing in which context you are using it in......like Plugger. Lol

I recently was chatting with my neighbours about one in particular who as I write this is merrily out the front of my windows with his little man power tool collection ,including my all time favourite the angle grinder. I have slammed my windows shut twice now but he does not pick up on the fact I may be slightly irritated having ringing ears.. Funny tho ,I can listen to music on loud all day long but he is the first to complain if there's a party next door as they...
mary c
ohhhh so many many noises...except my own loud music haha. Hate people coughing and sneezing these day- not sure why???
Hate hearing my dog swallowing noisily in the night, or noisily licking nethers eww. Hate hate noisy boy racers revving down our street late at night and doing wheelies at the roundabouts. Though i would probably be one of them if i was young and a lad. And there's more...HATE the sounds of those Gunshot firecrackers that people let off..that freak us and our animals out.
Hubby hates the sound of his neighbour howling..yes howling. And the guy who power saws bits of wood for hours in the nearby workshop. He turned up on a sunday once to cut wood- until a certain man in tank chair zoomed over and gesticulated at him to F.O.

Have you ever served on a jury before? I have not, but I know people who have. Some of them even got paid to serve because the trial went longer than expected. Would you like to be on a jury?
gordy
Yes I have, twice. I took it very seriously because you are making a decision on someone else's life/situation. Unfortunately some people were more interested in getting home than making the right choices. I take pride in saying I stuck to my beliefs and acquitted a young man accused of wrongdoing. The judge was pleased with the verdict. I was very proud of the decision and outcome. Not everyone is cut out for this service but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

My problem is that I always forget to eat lunch. I'm not hungry, and I get busy during the day. My meter is happy, though. I googled to see how many meals we should eat each day, and it varies. I've read articles saying we could just eat one big meal each day. I've read articles saying we should eat 6 small meals a day. How many meals do you eat? Do you think eating only breakfast and dinner is a bad thing? Or should we beat eating 5 or 6 times a day. How often do...
Linda Humby
I admit, I have a smoothie nearly every morning for breakfast. I often have a quiche or peanut butter sandwich for lunch, and meat and vegies for dinner, (about 3 x a week) I recently read the Whole meal Bread with Smooth peanut butter, No sugar/salt, actually helps your weight and digestion when eaten before bed. So that's my new favorite bedtime snack. It seems to help. Ive been dieting for 6 months. I lost 25 kgs but am a bit stuck for loosing the last 20-15 kgs. In the last month, Ive gone back up 1 kg...grrr... AnY tips? Im trying to Eat Less and Move More.

Dear Rewardia. It would be extremely nice if I wasn't getting screened out of nearly all surveys. I am genuinely trying to earn points and it feels like I am being blocked from doing so. It is NOT good enough and it is NOT acceptable. Please fix this
Pat C 618241
It depends on things such as, are you working, do you have children under 18, how old are you? It never seems to be a realization that of those who do these surveys, many are at home due to health or age and therefore we can't answer the questions asked.

Ok, so today I heard the story about the 50 year old man who, because he identifies as a 15 year old girl, has been accepted with open arms into a swimming team of girls aged between 13 and 15. And...as if that's not insane enough, this 50 year old man (fully equipped with 50 year old man bits and functioning eyes) is changing in the same change room as his fellow swimmers. So I ask the question...would you be happy to let your young daughter swim and change...

Checkout aisle and impulse Items designed to give you another opportunity to purchase. While you are waiting in line, you look over and see some candy or gum. There are also magazines and other items at the checkout. This is a prime spot for stores to sell impulse items. What are your thoughts? How do stores get us to buy more?
---...---
Don't get sucked in. It's a mind game. Your mind is the decider in the end, you decide to purchase that on a whim. Then the market wins because they got your money. I never impulse purchase, and It's like ads, I mute ads so I do not buy into that crap

Every year we exchange gifts with my sons-in-law, dad and aunt. Most times we do it through my daughter, so we don t even see each other. Many times we get gifts we don t want and either re-gift them or give them to my daughter. I prefer not to exchange gifts. My daughter says just don t give them one. They are not buying for us in expectation of a gift in return. What do others think about this??
Michelle Z 978367
Christmas time to me is all about giving not receiving. If you really want to give a gift donate a child's toys under the Kmart tree for a child in need.
Or perhaps donate an amount that you can afford to charity.

I would have to say my four kids. Because they are my life. If I'm down and out, all I have to do is look at their precious faces and all my worries goes away. They keep me on my toes. There's never a dull moment with them. They give my life meaning, and they spell out joy for me.

When we were younger in the 1970s and 80s. We would have what they called block parties. And we would shut down the street, and all of our neighborhood and neighbors would come out and set up chairs, tables, games, pools, food, all kinds of things to keep the community together and unified. We don't see that anymore. Nowadays, some of the wonderful things that would keep communities together have gone away, which has had the effect of the families and...
Paula J 395266
Block parties have never been a part of the Australian culture but when I lived in America they were a big thing and very enjoyable, especially at Halloween time. Halloween had rules which don't seem to apply here in Australia. You went out after dark and only knocked where the outside light was on. They would close the street, set up trestles and serve hot cider and treats. The entire street would be out, and it was a very long street with house numbers into 4 digits. It was great to get out and meet the neighbours.

Many of us are told "Hey you're a natural! Have you ever considered ... as a career?" We're often told to pursue our talents, but is this good advice? Isn't it better to learn how to strengthen our weaknesses, which would offer possibly more of an opportunity for personal growth? How many of us have made a career out of our talents anyway? What do you think? Which method have you used, and how has that worked for you?
Aamiya (Sri Lanka)
Depends on what your talents are I guess.
I don't really have any talents unless you count dealing with people. I hate it though! I'm a Legal Executive so I deal with people all the time so I guess I have kind of used my talent.

I was taught to be better 10 minutes early, than one minute late, no matter where you are going, because people who are always late have no respect for anyone. Even for any appointments or interviews, as if you are late, you are going to be stressed & panicking for not being there on time. Does anyone else think the same as me?

Even in primary school we were taught to be early and have your pencils sharpened all ready to start the day on time.

Last year I had my grandsons christening. I ordered him a personalised money box, engraved with his name & date of christening, 16 Oct 2022. Since the occasion, I have pondered on if the date on his money box should have been his date of birth, 12 Jan 2022, or the christening date? I am interested in people's thoughts as to which is correct?

Hollywood seems to like remakes, sequels and superhero movies (yawn)...but with our current CGI there are so many fantastic books that deserve to be made into movies...things that would really blow you away......one is "Fairyland" by Paul J. McAuley ... I'd love to see that one made.... What books would you like made into major movies?
Pato Lo Duck
What’s the point of wanting a movie made of a book you have already read, you already know the plot, know how it ends and know that it will never be as good as your imagination made it when you read it… Of course if you have dementia then that would excuse some people I guess..

How much do you think the content of your dreams is actually significant? I have heard that if someone appears in your dreams, that they are thinking of you. What I can't understand is how I can dream things that I have never seen before. Complex machines or equations I have no hope of understanding in real life. Places I have never been to before in exquisite detail. People I have never met... It is all quite strange...

What time should different aged teenagers be given for a curfew in this day and age? What factors come into play when deciding a time that is reasonable to you? Yes, this can seem like a very sombre and morbid thing to think about, let alone talk about... but we are all going to die eventually. Celebrating our lives after we have gone doesn't have to be a sad thing. Most people have some type of music played to see them off, what 3 songs would you select for your final farewell? I have recently started using the new Laundromat that has opened up down the shops. Wow, just like everything else, the prices have risen. It's now $6 for a small washing load and $8 for the larger machine. I have no idea what the dryers cost. Luckily, I only do a load of clothes and a load of linen once a fortnight. Do you think they are fair prices or too steep?
Tom S Qld
If you go to a laundromat once a week for 2 years
($8 x 52 wks x 2 = $832)
A good new washing machine will cost $800, then after 2 yrs the washes are free. The machine will probably last for 20 yrs.
If you go to a laundromat once a week for 20 years
($8 x 52 wks x 20 = $8320)
Buy a washing machine!

I am "feeding" off foodie discussions by some of you dear folks at the moment and discussion's with a Learned friend here.. So my recipe du jour is Caramilk No Bake Slice.. whats not to like?? Apart from the fact it sounds incredibly sweet and would prob make my remaining teeth ache! Anyone have something decadent or deliciously desirable they would like to make? or get someone else to make and they just eat it!

Alison Holst recipe makes the best citrus slice - loved by all. It's my mums book so don't have name of it.
Go to Mac n cheese is from Brian Lagerstrom. It's lighter than the traditional rue recipes and is very quick to prepare - YouTube 10 min Mac n cheese Brian Lagerstrom.
Tahini choc chip cookies from David Lebovits - best cookies I've ever made, such a good recipe. His lemon cake is a crowd pleaser too. Highly recommend any of his recipes.

As you age, do you find yourself reminiscing on your earlier years? Do you look back with fondness or regret? Would you change some of your choices, or are you happy with your outcome? What would you do differently?

I'm almost 58 and my dad is 83 years old. I was emailing him on Monday and I told him how sorry I was that it was a very difficult day for him. You see it would have been my brother's 56th birthday except that he died 3 years ago in a car crash. As it was just my mum, dad, brother and myself growing up it is now only my dad and I who survive today as my mother passed away nearly 20 years ago. He said to me "Michelle, every day is a memory day". I told him that I'm finally old enough to understand that each day you find yourself reflecting on memories from the good, the bad and the ugly things that you've experienced in life and I find myself starting to play the "what if" game! What if I hadn't gone out to the disco and met the man who would have become my husband and the father of my children when I was supposed to be staying at a friend's house and not going out at all or what if I had been content to stay at the house my family had been living in, paid that mortgage off and reduced my full-time work to part-time and stayed home more often with my kids, instead of insisting that we renovate the home that I had inherited 75% of which was really my dream to do and to honour the memory of the ladies who gave it to me, but ultimately led to my husband going off with another woman he met while I was at work doing night shifts as an RN and then led to me ultimately having to walk away from and go bankrupt. I could do this all day but the nights are the worst. I don't think when I was younger that I could perceive of me at 57, hardly able to walk, with very little money and without an ability to do the things I used to love, including my job, and existing in constant pain. THIS me was abstract like a Picasso and bore no resemblance to who I am today and I think that we all reach a point in our lives where we can reflect on the good, the bad and the ugly and some of us can find peace in that, but I look back on my life, on my kids and EVERYTHING else and I ABSOLUTELY wish, with ALL my heart, that I hadn't ever been born! Thanks for reading.

We are going through yet another tough time in our family-extremely serious. I am curious-what do you draw strength from when things are scary, bleak, or overwhelming? I myself am a Christian, and I do believe prayer helps, but I also keep my friends and family very close. Not trying to be controversial....it's on my mind right now. It's awful when you are having it come from more than one direction. That's it. Thanks and take care of yourselves.

Well, Nancy, whatever is hittin you hard right now, I'm very sorry you are going through such turmoil. I'm Christian too and the only place real peace and coping comes from is our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. Christ knows your heart and situation because He knows you intimately and there is a reason behind what you're going through. You've got to keep praying and putting one foot in front of the other and cry and let your pain out that way if it helps. I'm going through incredibly tough times too, so I can empathize with you and feeling like you have nowhere to turn and that your burdens are too heavy. My husband is young and term ill. He's dying before my eyes, my sweet loving husband who is a wonderful man, which is hard to find these days... but that's beside the point. I just can't stand the thought of losing him soon and the wrenching my heart will go through. I have a severe debilitating disability myself and it's difficult to care for him when I'm having such a hard time. But it is a privilege to care for him and have the little time I do have left. Just remember that you are not alone. There are people in your life that I know must love and care about you immensely and don't want to see you suffer. Try to put good things, (books, movies, positive talk) into your head so you are feeding your soul positivity and not negativity. Stay close to your God. He's there, I know He is. I wish there was a magical answer to going through tough times, but really there isn't. I only know what I try to do to help myself through mine. I find that focusing on other people and doing acts of service for others always helps me to feel better and focus on others who are hurting too. I will remember your name and what you've written here and include you in my daily quiet time that I take to talk to my Heavenly Father. I don't know you, except what you wrote, but I assure you, your Heavenly Father sure does. I am your sister in life. Please know you are loved. Peace and clarity be yours.
