Whatever happened to all cars having a strong steel bumper bar front and back and a thick chassis underneath? Back in the day if you had a crash you can mostly be guaranteed to either drive away or have your car fixed quite quickly with minimal cost. Today have a small bump on the car and it's a completer write-off. Bumper bars and chassis were there for a reason and that reason is safety for the occupants of the car. You may have got a bit shook up but you were never seriously...

As the heading says, Should Optus be allowed to continue operating after the major hack and release of their customer's private details? Keep in mind that if the government was to force them to cease operations then Optus would just start trading under a different business name then their new customers would not be aware of the risk hey would be taking. Also keep in mind that for many years Optus has also been trading under the name of DODO

My wife is 5 years older than me. When we had been together for a year and it came to asking her to marry me she found out then. I don't think that's a lie but she just assumed I was older. She still married me though and we've been married for 46 years.

Boardgames were very popular when I was growing up, and I really enjoyed playing them. These days people play more on computers, smartphones and gaming consoles. Do you still play boardgames? What are some of your favourites?

I don't have anyone to play with, so if I play any games it's usually on the ipad like rewardia. I loved monopoly, cluedo, trivial pursuit and trouble

REDLINING (by white bankers) is used as an excuse to deny black people access to loans, keeping them in neighborhoods with lower property values and little investment opportunities. Meanwhile, white neighborhoods, were seen as more desirable, worthy of development, and easier access to loans. Welcome to the real USA!
Jellypony
Oh Walter W that happens every where not just in America and yes it is very wrong and very unethical, but the bank needs guarantees and unless some one is going to guarentee that the black man won't forfeit on a loan they simply won't give it to any of them. Very sad and very unjust. It happens all the time and the black man works just as hard as a white man (maybe some times even harder.) But what can one do, go guarantor on a loan for some one they don't know? Would you do that?

This is a faux poll to poll whether it is worth doing a poll on Rewardia. How long do people normally wait til their poll comes up? Do some people never have their poll suggestion ever appear? Who decides? So many questions...so little time. Does anyone care haha. A. no B. maybe C. no D. yaaaaawn
Thomas (Rewardia Support)
Hi Mary. I have asked our content manager about it, here is the answer: you have 1 published Daily Poll and 5 declined. Two of them were about "What would your favourite dog be?" or so, declined because we already have a lot of "dog" Polls. The reason for the rest three polls is a very trivial - the text of the Question is too long. If we've got some Polls with a long text in the Question and some compact ones, shorts will win

You may find the following tips helpful. Use a bowl in the sink when washing fruit, vegetables or dishes. You can then use the waste water to water your plants. Fill a jug with water and put it in the fridge for when you want a cool drink. Turn off the tap when you clean your teeth. A running tap uses up to nine litres of water a minute. If possible, take a shower instead of a bath. A five-minute shower uses about 40 litres of water. This is about...

Lots of people are on their phones but for how long? I see people that act like they can't stand being away from their phones but other can, so I want your opinion on this. Are you a phone freak or not? How many hours do you spend on your phone?
Edienz
I use it most of the time instead of a computer. I download and read books, do banking, play games, do surveys, take and edit photos, send texts and emails, research products, order products, watch videos, listen to music, read the news, find recipes and craft patterns, learn French and Chinese, book tickets and accommodation and ask questions about anything I want to know. That takes up most of my day! I very rarely use it to ring people.

Many may think: Well, that's what a first date is, but what I mean is, if you were sitting alone and another was sitting alone at a restaurant, would you accept the offer (or make the offer) to eat with them? Or, would you even dine alone in the first place?

I'm starting to feel like a second class citizen, what with Aboriginal designs on just about everything and Aboriginal names everywhere. People are not allowed to call Aboriginals black but they are allowed to call us white. The even have their own flag, I thought we were all Australians. I won't mention all the freebees they get at the expense of the taxpayer.
BLM
Question: Are you going to give Aboriginals back their land and leave Australia (which white Australians took by illegal means)? Furthermore, white Australians' politicians get freebees at the expense of the taxpayers - all the time! What is your point? NO - colonialism was NEVER a good thing for indigenous people or minorities!

Progress continues to be made on developing toilets that undertake fecal and urine analysis when you use it. This can detect disease and warning signs of poor health, and even send the results to your doctor over the internet. Would you use this toilet or is it too invasive? How would you feel if your toilet told you you've overinduldged in greasy foods, etc.? How would this work if a visitor used it? Is Artificial Intelligence development getting out of control?
Frank N
In my experience doctors have not been too good at detecting health issues, including some major ones. Given that, a toilet that provides health data could be an advantage.

Do you believe that the internet is a possible risk for starting WW3? We hear of occasionally, or read of situations of spying that goes on by some countries, esp by Nations of ... influence, Such as China, Russia, North Korea. There is only so much our Government Internet security teams.. can do to keep us safe. Some of these corrupt nations have a lot to gain by spying, and Westernized ..Nations .... like our own are worried! Spying on on other nations...

There is no such a thing as corrupt nation. And no, the internet cannot start WW3. People can. People can prevent it as well. That’s what I think. Think about it.

I read recently that purchasing these products in public makes some people feel awkward. I kinda felt that was weird. I mean it's not the 1800s. There is nothing to feel ashamed about. Most people out shopping are only focused on themselves anyway.

Hocking one's belongings is not ideal obviously. But it's an option if you're broke, struggling, an artist or living paycheck to paycheck. I certainly don't judge people who do it. What are your thoughts on pawn shops and the people who use them?
BLM
I don't get attached to things (I get attached to people)! At this point in my life - I never had to hocked ANYTHING (I never had to use a pawn shop) - hopeful, this trend will continue until the day I die! It goes without saying, I don't judge people who do use pawnshops, however - I judge pawn shop owners (since the the majority of pawnshops are located in the poorest section of a city)!

The word "woke" has crept into our vocabulary and found a permanent home. But do people understand what it actually means? I see it used in the wrong context all the time. What does "woke" mean to you?
Lachelle B
It hasn't crept into our vocabulary. If you use it in the wrong context you need to improve your English. What I do hate is when people say tooken instead of taken! We will eventually degenerate into neanderthals again with the horrid grammar, speech and antisocial behaviour around nowadays. Grunt grunt!

When I purchase a bunch of anything that has roots, mainly shallots, they go straight into the ground. They just keep on giving. I only have to purchase about two bunches a year. My mum has always done that so I guess I learned from her. A few years back it was a big thing. I remember people regrowing celery. I managed that one, but an idiot who lives in my house thought it was a weed and that was the end of that.

It drives me nuts when you see a survey on Rewardia's survey page and it says 10 minutes. You click on it and now the survey says it will take 20 minutes. Happens all the time that the surveys are usually longer than advertised. When that happens I just close the survey, if they can't be honest about the time then they don't get my answers.
keimanzero
Most surveys say that in 'timed tests, it has been found that this survey takes 8 to 10 minutes to complete'. This does not take into account the fact that many surveys have essay questions, pay attention questions, I am not a robot questions and that they usually ask the same BS questions over and over again thus making that 8 to 10 minutes more like an hour or two. Beware! Most 25 point surveys usually take an hour or two or three even! Rule of thumb- always assume that surveys can be very short or very long regardless of what they tell you! If you don't have the time needed and you are not sure if you can save the survey for later, do not start surveys you are not sure of their length. What I hate is when they tell you that you must accumulate X number of points before you can cashout! BTW Rewardia requires 50K points for $50 cash or gift cards/codes.

This is a very simple dessert to make. It is of Dutch Indonesian origin coming from Manado in the north of Sulawesi. I am currently in that area building houses hence the post. At first glance, it appears like a lot of ingredients, but most can be found in many western pantries. 1/4 cup (30 gr) all-purpose flour 7 tbsp (50 gr) cornstarch 1/2 cup (100 gr) granulated sugar 1/2 tsp salt 1 cup (240 ml) coconut water 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) milk 2 tbsp ...

1 can Chickpeas 1/2 cup Tahini 1/4 cup Lemon juice 2 Garlic cloves Salt Cayenne pepper or any other spice you'd prefer. 1/3 cup water This is really easy to make Blend all the ingredients together, and you get a nice hummus for a dip etc. I also sprinkle fresh parsley onto from my own garden :) The amount in the photo, I used double the ingredients. Enjoy

Thanks Ange. I always make sure that I have all these ingredients at home and available at all times. I don't know if many people realise how very nutritious this is as well as being tasty too. I wish that I had a dollar for every bowl of hummus eaten globally just for today because I'd be instantly rich! Thanks for sharing.

This recipe is incredibly versatile. You can use it to crumb chicken, beef, lamb, pork and fish. The Japanese panko breadcrumb is more crispy, crunchy making it more delicious in my opinion. This is one of our family favorites. I appreciate the time you took to share your recipe (and your recipe reads yummy). In addition, I am a 'hard-core-vegetarian' (you lost me at chicken (six chicken thighs at that)). Here in New Zealand, there is the government's free SuperGold Card for people aged 65+ which offers discounts and deals for all sorts of goods and services. The website has a searchable list: https://www.supergold.govt.nz
A couple of everyday examples are ...
Most supermarkets have a special discount day each week for SuperGold Card holders, usually a Tuesday. It's only 5% off everything, but every little bit helps.
Caltex petrol stations offer an extra 2% discount for SuperGold Card holders, on top of any normal discount everyone else gets.
Off-peak travel on public transport is free.
Australia has a similar Australian Seniors Card system, and the two are reciprical to some degree, so New Zealander SuperGold Card holders visiting Australia can take advantage of the Australian Seniors Card deals, and vice versa.

Like myself there are many people at home looking after a family member. I originally had my daughter at the age of 4, get very sick and had a crash course in nursing in 3 months and had to look after her 24/7. People do not understand what you are going through and sometimes we need to know there are other people out there, like ourselves, that do understand. I am now looking after my husband 24/7 because of all his health issurs

Having just found out that my latest op. did not work, I worry for my partner. He's already been doing much of the domestic chores on my behalf, whilst also carting me about some distance to various health appointments. We are both in our mid eighties and don't know how long we can keep being active. Who will need extra care first? As seniors we are not in a position to pay for much home care and I see the news says that is to be increased in price to seniors using it. Life in the old lane isn't much fun is it?

In driving at night I've been blinded by headlights on 4-wheel drives. I flash my lights to let the other driver know they are on high beam. Then the other driver flicks up to high beam. So I've been blinded by their low beams. Should the 4WD vehicles have their lights lowered so they are not so blinding as they are a higher vehicle than the ordinary car?
MoB
Probably, drivers now have no idea about lights. A car was following me on a dark night with no lights at all, when we pulled up at the lights I let him know that he didn't have his lights on, he said I can see so why should I put my lights on. I tried to explain that the lights were not for him to see with but for other people to see him. I got the finger, very nice. Knowing about lights on your car should be imperative if you are driving, it might help to lessen the number of accidents we have.

In the days leading up to this Federal budget, I heard the media stating that the Pensioners are one of the biggest groups to benefit the MOST from this budget. I'm not retired and definitely do not believe elderly people are a burden. I feel similar to you about pensioners having paid there fair share of taxes. I also think that elderly people add a lot of value because they offer unique insight due to growing up in a different time. I've knoticed that Western cultures don't treat their elderly as nicely as Eastern cultures and this should change.

What do you think of the forthcoming increase in pension payments ? Can you survive on a pension? The pending increase in pension payments is just over $ 38 a fortnight, BUT my rent alone has increased by $ 40 a fortnight recently. Add to that rent increase, the much higher costs of electricity, gas, water, groceries, and other things, how are pensioners supposed to survive?

Not sure if anyone else was still awaiting this amazing pension increase the media has been amping up to start on the 20th ? Well that was my payday and nope did not arrive. I have to wait yet another fortnight. Maybe it's d.s.payments get even further overlooked? Disappointed..very!!

I'm sure by now we have all heard the news that Queen Elizabeth II has passed away. I'm by no means a 'royalist' but not many of us can say we have worked while in their 90's. Also when I lived at my parents as a teen I used to chuck avocado seeds in the backyard garden. They have a few fruiting avocado trees now. Apple cores/seeds chucked out a little before winter solstice (in temperate climates) should get enough cold hours to start sprouting by spring. You can also wash apple seeds then chuck em in a container with damp paper towel in the fridge (keep checking that it's damp) and this will give them enough cold hours to start sprouting (100% success I've found with this as all seeds sprouted). So yeah mum n dad have a few apple trees and crabapple trees.

My children do jobs at home to earn pocket money, but are slowly approaching that all important she where they can work outside the home in part-time jobs. Currently, they have a few after school activities and homework etc each week. We are leaning towards them keeping the interests and keeping up the good grades at...

Perhaps there's a way to do it all, but guess the sacrifice will come from the parents who taxi them to and fro. Once they earn their own money, charge them board, (and maybe bank the money for them to use later) this is a good grounding for going flatting. I had a friend who provided it all and when the child chose to go flatting, the wake up call was nearly more than the child could cope with

Yes I have seen one in Melbourne when I as a teenager and the nest day the media reported sightings of an UFO
Warrior Woman
I have twice seen one and I am basically a skeptic about flying saucers and Aliens. However on both occasions neither the Coastguard, Airforce, Police or anyone else can explain the lights I saw, which were brilliant blue when hovering, then flashed green as the zig-zagged back and forth for about 10 minutes over the ancient extinct volcano on our property, before flashing back to brilliant blue and disappearing over the horizon at an incredible speed.. They lit up the sky which woke my daughter on a neighbouring property on the second occasion. On the first occasion I was with about 6 other adults and we all reported our sighting. Several other people reported them on both occasions but we never received any logical explanations. Definitely unidentified flying objects

I learnt to use industrial sewing machines at the age of 14 but sadly now I am retired can't afford to buy one so I can continue making and repairing clothing. I also have a really good eye for colours and when we built our last home I knew exactly what I wanted, they told us to allow 3 hours to choose everything, had it all sorted in less than an hour, colour of bricks, roof windows, door plus everything inside. I also had to teach myself how to cook and after 50 plus years married husband still asks where did you get that recipe from.

What is up with Hollywood today? Most of the "NEW" movies today are only rehashed old movies. Where is their imagination gone? The older ones were good in their day, so why rehash them and in the process ruining a good movie. Wake up scriptwriters and use some imagination and this doesn t mean special effects with imaginary characters. What do other people think?
lippy loo
Years ago a movie was released into the cinemas and played for a few weeks or even months sometimes. Nowadays unfortunately, due to TV, cable TV, internet, netflix etc. they are barely even hitting the cinemas for a week and then hit the smaller screens. This means more and more movies have to be made and sadly many are rubbish. I agree, some are just noise and or trash and often the hype is just PR to get people to pay to watch them.
I rarely watch TV and never go to the movies these days. I do not have pay TV either.
Give me a good book any day.

I mean these supposed plus-size women aren't even fat. Most of them are just average or what would be considered normal compared to the rest of the population.
