Some people have a few big dreams, and others are actively working on checking life goals off a long list. What's on your bucket list? And what may have you recently completed?
JoJo
Currently travelling round Aus in a camper can. Was a bucket list item for years. Another is to live in Japan for at least 6 months. Maybe next year?

So I've given up smoking gone to vaping to help my urge to have a cigarette, yet I still get judged for vaping. Like I need to quit etc yet why do so many people like to tell others how to live their life's? Can't people just let others do their own thing? Don't like vaping, don't vape Don't like smoking, then don't smoke. Like it's so simple. Some need to stop pushing their opinions on others, right?
Rebecca B 614374
It is of course your right to smoke or vape, but do bear in mind that others don't like the smell, so it's best to do it where it won't bother others.

I would personally like to thank everyone I have ever played BINGO with on here, as I have made some amazing friends on there. No, I am not leaving or going anywhere, but I am doing an appreciation post. If I feel down, you guys and girls are there to make me feel better by chatting and playing! I hope I am the same for you guys and girls!
Pat C 618241
Haven't felt the need to play as yet. Can remember accompanying my grandma as a teenager quite a few years ago. Boy those old girls would kill to win! All for the prize of a tin of peaches or a packet of biscuits.

Do you think being left-handed has more advantages than being right-handed? Think about Nadal being a left-handed world champion tennis player and how his dad and uncle forced him to play left-handed when he was a young boy. Do you think a child should be forced to be left-handed and then end up being ambidexterous?
Zebra
I am ambidextrous.
I was forced while in school to choose either one not both.
This was hard for me growing up, yet through the years, I grew up I would practice with both hands, while not in school.
So glad I never let these teachers stumble me into only using one hand.

Has anyone experienced children, being so rude around you & their parents/carers can see what they are doing & they don't make the child to stop? In my opinion, what are as a parent/carer to allow this in the 1st place? If you're sitting in any public transport for example, the child kicks the back seat behind you or throw you their rubbish, just enough to the stage you had enough. You as a person turn your head to speak to the parent/carer & they don't care. This isn't right,...
Andrew T 123623
That why our generation behave themselves (baby boomers)because we knew we would get a clip behind the ear. But in this PC world you can do this know so I blame the younger generation for this.
If they kick the back of my seat I would turn around and say if you keep this up I will brake your legs. If they are front with a reclining seat I would tip reclining seat saying I was getting up accidents happen Nd with rubbish I would throw my rubbish on them.
You may get it I am not PC and I will call a spade a spade and don't care who I may offend. Not one should have to put up with that kind behaviour.

I am just wondering how people in this situation of when are children too young to be taking medication for ADHD, autism etc. my granddaughter is 7 and her mum wants her on medication. Plus now she's talking about putting her 4-year-old and 2-year-old as well. When is it too soon?
doug p 631197
Personally I wouldn't give kids man made chemicals to sort out a natural chemical imbalance they already have thats been diagnosed. I think it would lead to problems later down the track being on drugs from an early age.
40 or 50 years ago you didn't here about adhd or autism until someone unleashed it on the world, now everything a kid does that we used to do as kids is labeled.
Maybe they should look at the food that is consumed by the kids as to the causes of their labeled diagnosis.

I have recently heard of something like debt recycling. If you then borrow the same amount and invest it, you're essentially replacing the inefficient debt with a debt that is tax-deductible and could potentially generate wealth. What are your thoughts? How to get out of debt and get rich?
DruidsTree76
First thing , to become rich is to put some of one's own income away ( save it) also known as the long way.
Second thing , borrowing someone else's money is a quick way of becoming in debt, once you are in debt , in is near impossible to become rich.
Borrowing more money, and investing it, is no guarantee of getting out of the original debt , and becoming rich. It may end up worse off and owing more debt.
Remember this simple philosophy : If one can keep a roof over one's head ( rent/ mortgage), pay one's utilities ( electricity/ gas/ phone/ water etc) ,if one can feed and clothe one's self, then one is rich!
Thankyou for listening to my Ted talk.
Have a wonderful day.

Should all long term unemployed people be made to do at least 10 hours a week of community work?

No. Why punish them even more? If there is a job available in any such area then for goodness sake give them a job and enhance their dignity!

Being in love with two people may be more common than some think. Studies show that many individuals worldwide identify as polyamorous, meaning they partake in a romantic relationship with or feel attracted to more than one individual at a time. What are your thoughts? Can you be in love with 2 people?
Elizabeth A 807208
I believe you can be "in love" with one person and still love another but there is a difference between being "in love" and loving!!
Feb 18, 24

I know many of you cannot stand the commercialism of VD, but that aside, is it really that bad? I am a big romantic, and so is my man..... I always get flowers sent to me at work, & I feel so honoured that he loves and cares for my feelings on this special romantic day, where he wants to show the world he loves me & that I'm precious to him. Yes, I do feel for those that are single. But real love is very special & I think we should be able to have it celebrated? ...
Greg B 520364
Yes I have been told you can get VD from being romantic. But I never thought you felt special about it.

If someone hurts or abuse animals I think they should be charged the same as if they hurt a person, pets are family too
Lee b 979050
Firstly hefty fine some jail time and never be allowed to own a pet again. Should be put on a register for cruelty to animals and attached to the persons social media profiles for a minimum of 5 years pending a review by an independent reviewer.

Do you think it is the responsibility of all tax owners to support these youth offenders? Why I ask is that, why aren't the parents of these youths own their responsibilities to their child or children's? They created them, if I owned a mansion they would be living with me under the tikanga o So Maori

Instead of putting these offenders in jail I would place them in the Army. Then maybe they might get the right discipline that their parents were not able to give them.

The Kardashian Family is a very controversial topic. Most people just skim over the facts and assume that everything they see on social media is true and factual. However, they are just people, and everyone chooses to depict them as these horrible, spoilt, no-talent, plastic filled monsters. However, this is so far from the truth. Do not judge someone before you get to know them. Do you agree?
Peter O 164296
They may or may not be nice people, but let's face it, they're famous for being famous. None of them has achieved very much apart from looking good on camera & attracting a social media following. I don't wish them ill, but my disinterest in them is total.

Tipping in the United States is on the rise, and experts are calling it tipflation. In the fourth quarter of 2022, the number of tips provided at full-service restaurants grew by 17% from the fourth quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, the tip frequency at quick-service restaurants rose 16% during the same time period. The pressure to tip well in front of the tip receiver, before a service is completed, or in front of other customers makes a difference for many. After...

I have this issue with doing washing every single day for our now 11 and a half year old. The GP says it's a phase that he will overcome. My girlfriend wants to keep on using these night pant products called dry nights.... I told her that we would be better off taking him to a pediatrician or something alike... Being our first, my question is does make a near 12-year-old wear these products to bed do more harm than good? He also has camp coming up in late August......
Liane H
It's quite common in boys, My son was the same. Except we didn't have those in that sizing back then so it was bed liners and washing each day . There is a nasal spray that can help to slow things down, but basically in most cases it's simply hormonal,( the hormone responsible for concentrating the urine overnight is less present than it should be) and you will find once the 12yr mark kicks in or soon after ,. It will just stop. It's very frustrating I do remember ,but it's important not to let your child feel like it's an issue, They can't help it, It's not from trauma and it's not going to help restricting drinks before bed either. There are plenty of tips online . Don't bother with the bell and pad system either,, all it does is wake the child up when they wet with an alarm and interrupts their sleep often twice a night, more! .. not worth it . As I say it will just miraculously stop once his hormones kick in . Hope that helps some :)

Education is rightly seen as one of the best ways to develop a country s economy, as more productive workers can create better living standards for everyone. But is there a limit to the benefits of education, and should countries be wary of this double-edged sword? Are we overeducated?

If kid's education is so important to these New Zealand teachers, then why do they keep striking. We came from a time when there were 50 students in once class and the teachers were getting paid min wage. And today teachers are wanting smaller classes and more pay and our kids are suffering in all this, along with their parents !
Jenny L 591463
They fear for their lives every day as they can't touch the little darlings that get away with a hell of a lot more than we did when we went to school. There is no discipline at all any where, kids these day aren't even scared of the police. They go to court, they are out on bail and commit the same crime over and over again. Unfortunately they are not killing themselves but innocent hard working people that deserve so much more out of life than what has been dished out. Clearly wrong time, wrong place. Then you ask why are the teachers protesting? Give me strength come on the answer is so simple. I would not be a teacher these days and the ones I do know have had a gut full. They are constantly being told to `F' off on a daily basis, told they are ugly and then they swing off their arms causing the teacher pain. Grabbing their arms and then using all their weight to pull them over. Not getting any better that is for sure and so they should want smaller classes and more money. At least they can't bring guns into the schools but other weapons like swords, machetes, knives, flick blades, knuckle busters are found on a daily basis. And again you want to know why the teachers are striking? You try teaching them, you try home schooling your little darling and I see how long you last.

Some economists argue that raising the minimum wage artificially creates imbalances in the labour market and leads to inflation. Other economists note that when minimum wages have been raised historically, inflation did not follow. It s getting impossible to live. So many people are working 2 to 4 jobs just to be able to survive. What can we change do to make life more affordable for everyone?

Yes, for a very long time now, on and off. I was very young when it first started after my father was killed. The loss so great to me, I called it my hole. A space inside me left behind that was his place. Over the years I fell into that hole, so easy to step into, but so hard to crawl out of. Filled with hurt, anger, loss and shame. What holistic approach have you tried instead of modern medicine that you swear by. You might have even gone so far as to share with friends or family what you do that helps you with your ailment. It doesn't have to be an edible/drinkable solution.......it could involve just physical activity.

The 'in' thing at school was a mince pie & packet of chips/crisps trend: Peel back pie top & scoop out the mince with a chip (eating mince like dip) Then put the chips in pie, top back on - chip pie - done & yum Seems weird now - did you have any 'weird' food combos?
Cely
I rarely bought lunch at school. But I have a yummy sanga that have been told its weird. It's a jam, cheese and vegemite sanga. It is so yummy. The sweetness of the jam takes away the saltiness of vegemite and visa versa.

What does everyone think of these people claiming that they re a sovereign citizen or similar and trying to use it as an excuse to not pay taxes, registration, and have licenses etc?
Linda C
They are anti government extremists. In Australia all of a sudden they seem to be voicing this and going to court but so far the courts have not agreed with any of their so called legal spiel. They believe they are not under the laws of the government, do not pay taxes, car registration, etc. however, they use the health system, roads, and everything the tax payer pays for. The police in this country are really getting fed up with them and the fact they use up our legal systems time. Some use it I think to get 15 minutes of fame, some use it to be recognised and get TV interviews so they can sprout more nonsense, and some I fear really believe this rubbish, and some just follow USA movements. I am so over all these conspiracy theorists, activists, etc. They are not helping the world at all.

There are some clothing fashions around that I find really ugly, and I always find myself wondering who on earth would buy them. It's not only the style, but the colours are mostly dull and uninspiring as well. At the end of each season, I have a bit of a laugh because I often see these ugly clothes in the clearance bin. Are there any fashions, if any, that make you cringe?

Have you ever have the symptoms of a panic attack or severe anxiety to the point where you thought maybe it was more a heart attack than a physiological reaction to extreme stress? For many of the millions of sufferers of panic and anxiety attacks worldwide, it can really be a frightening experience to think you might actually be having a heart attack, which we all know can be fatal, if indeed it is your heart. Has this ever happened to you, and you care to share?
BLACK LIVES MATTER
I have had severe physiological reaction to extreme stress - but I grow up - in 'rough neighborhoods' in the USA. I was able to identify the 'stimulus' - as I got older - (alcohol abuse, criminal justice, systemic racism, street drugs, police, etc.). It is everyday life for a minority in the USA (coping with racial discrimination) - 'dealing' with severe anxiety - Blacks have the second lowest life expectancy in the USA! I (personally) never let it 'get' to the point (panic attack) - were I thought it was a heart attack or I would already be DOA at a hospital!

I recently spoke to a friend. She has decided to go into a nursing home as she dislikes living on her own. While her children see to her needs, she rarely sees her grandchildren. People go about their lives while working and going out etc. Could they spare half an hour a week or even a fortnight to visit their grandmother that is lonely? It is sad to see and hear how people act towards someone who once also had a full life.

I liked the show on the ABC where they took the schoolchildren to visit the nursing homes. The people living there got so much out of it & the children also benefited from the intertactions.

How much of your decisions are governed by your ego? Do you make more decisions that are based on the approval of others or do you make more decisions that are truly meaningful and purposeful to you? Do you have a good balance of both perhaps? Our ego helps to establish our identity and inspire us though having an over-inflated ego can hold us back. Sometimes a slice of humble pie, though feeling harsh, can teach a good lesson or help us realise how much our ego drives us and...

Do you think it would be a good idea to build all new houses with solar panels on the roof, so we could run our own energy, or do you think it would be a good idea to have turbines everywhere getting energy from the wind and the sun etc and let everyone have free power connected to their houses? I know it's not going to suit everybody, but I do think we need to start looking at other forms of power that are good for the environment. What do you think? It will be...

In 1994, 62 children ages 6 to 12 outside their school yard in Ruwa, Zimbabwe. Some of the children saw one or more silver craft land on a nearby field and some of the children claim one or more creatures dressed in black approached and communicated telepathically an environment message to them. The children who saw them drew the same drawings of the creatures. This is a true story. Believe it or not.

As people age, their world can often more focused on their own immediate needs, health and daily well-being. It’s strange this discussion coming up. My mum died last Sunday. I’m not after sympathy, but I know people care. It was a blessing for her as she was very poorly and it was a huge relief to see her suffering end. About nine years ago I answered my mum back for the first time in my life. She would not recognise my first grandchild as family because she was fostered and in her words not mine “ she isn’t blood”. This hurt very much, this beautiful little girl was my first grandchild and I love all my grandchildren equally. I kept my distance for a while but got abusive phone calls from my brother and nearly had to take out a restraining order. My mum changed her will, and I had no say over her health as she got older and deteriorated. She was put in a nursing home, which was very comfortable but she kept asking me what had happened to all her belongings. I didn’t know. I visited her and we spoke and I love her. My psychologist said I would never get an apology for the hurt she caused me but I forgave her. Sorry for the ramble but thank you for letting me write.

There was a time in professional sports when the umpire/referee made a decision, it was accepted as final without question. Errors were made, but were acknowledged as part of the game. Today, almost every decision is referred to an authority away from the playing field. This not only interrupts the play of the game but calls into question the integrity of the field official.

I think it is needed as some are hard to see and it makes the decision easyer to make and is a more fair way

Coming from a very large family, it becomes a big question when Christmas rolls around as to who to invite for Christmas dinner. I usually decide on it based on who gets along with whom. Then I don't hear the end of it when I don't invite certain members. I decided not to put on the Christmas dinner for the past two years; it didn't feel like Christmas without family around on Christmas day. Do you experience any of this? What would you do?

My family is large as well. What we do is meet at the local park, lake or nearby beach. Everyone that wants to come brings a main and a dessert to share at a communal table. The children are catered for by water activities and a playground. Adults mingle with whomever they want. At the end (most of it is paper plates\plastic cups) cleaning up takes seconds. The burden of catering is not left to a single person. And our rule is no presents. Having fun, bringing food, participating in activities...that's the present.

Recently our cat was mauled by a savage dog even though it was on a leash outside our house. Its owners had no control. I have never witnessed such torture and was devastated, `The cat was so injured, it has to be out down. We had no success on insisting that the dog should be put down to prevent other incidents. Next time it might be a child. Surely, there should be more restrictions on such animals, \What do you think?
Karen S 841350
Yes, I agree, dogs with those killer tendencies towards cats often go onto to attack people, have seen this many times when working with council dog pound. Often they can not be rehabilitated and have to be euthanised, sad for all concerned. More restrictions, visits are needed for dogs such as these and this savage dog that mauled your cat on a lead is a public safety issue. More than often it is the owner at the cause of the problem with encouraging aggression and non socialisation of dog at fault. There are alot of people involved in dog fighting now and these people couldn't be trusted to look after there dogs and need these animals taken off them

For me, it is completely normal for someone to choose to stay single forever. People have different life goals, values, and preferences, and for some, being single may provide the freedom and independence they desire. What would you say? Is it normal to want to be single for the rest of your life?
P F
I am single and have been all my life. I enjoy it. It's given me time for self growth. Most of my friends got married within 2 years of leaving high school and took any low paying job they could to pay the bills. I became a teacher and travelled all over the country I live in. I play several instruments, write songs and have a band that we preform at local events. I own my own house, 2 investment properties, a government and a private super, shares and a good size chunk of cash in the bank. Being single DOESN'T mean being lonely. I have great friends and have had relationships along the way. The freedom I have to do anything I want whenever I like is amazing. I don't need to ask anyone's permission to do anything I feel like doing at the drop of a hat, and money is never a problem. When I look at my friends and how deeply they are in debt to the almighty credit card I thank God I'm single. And as far as never having children...well I'm a teacher that is surrounded by children and I have 6 nephews that think I'm the greatest uncle ever due to the gifts and adventures we have had in the past. And still having adventures today with their children. Life is good.

I feel that if done safely there should be no issue but a mandatory licence and helmets would be needed along with an age requirement to make it safe
Vicki
Hi David thanks for this discussion topic. Hospital emergency departments and aquired brain injury wards are testament to people either not using them safely and responsibly, or being injured through no fault of their own.
Road users with licenses see first hand people flouting rules including those riding e scooters or e bikes. These machines can travel up to speeds in excess of 40km per hour on footpaths and roads. Not in favour of them.

What are some of the things you do to save money in your household? Examples of what we do: - Use clothes line - Minimal usage of 1 time use items (paper towel, plastic wrap, tin foil, sandwich bags etc.) - Bake own snacks instead of store bought (cookies, muffins, cakes, pies etc) - Make own bread, tortilla shells, crackers etc - Home cooked meals instead of pre cooked/prepared or take out - Grow and preserve own food - Compost to create own soil - Shop...

- pay cash for groceries; withdraw your budget so can't go over it by paying card. You also don't get surcharges doing this.
- 10c refund on drink cans etc, save it. I'm at $400 in just over a year doing this
- buy 2nd hand

Sometimes people wonder whether it is always best to tell the truth, or if small white lies are acceptable in certain situations. For example, telling someone you like their cooking even if you don t, or saying you are busy when you just want time for yourself. The discussion is: Is it better to always tell the truth, or are white lies sometimes okay? Why do you think so?
LA
White lies are basically social bubble wrap—sure, the truth is inside there somewhere, but nobody needs to get hurt in the process.

Mom and Dad passed away. Eventually, the property had to be divided. We did everything honestly and above board. Everything was great until, my Sister in the middle decided to sell her piece of property for a quarter of a million dollars. Then she put part of the property that was mine, that I made to my Son, as my Dad wanted to be done in the sale with hers. Now, we have a problem. Has this happened to anyone else, she had even lied to the realty company and...

We moved to our small town 14 years ago. We were shocked at how many things in this town are run on volunteers. The CFA (fire brigade), SES (emergency service), They are in most Australian towns, so no surprise there. But the local hall has a volunteer committee who look after it, cleaning renting it out etc. The local show is run by volunteers. We also have 2 CWA branches (Country Women's Association) a Rotary Club, a Masonic Club,...
LA
In my town, the only thing run by volunteers is the gossip network—and trust me, they’re very efficient.

If you were to die tomorrow, would you have enough funds to cover the cost of your funeral? At the moment I am putting away money weekly in a funeral fund and hopefully by the time of my death there should be enough to cover my funeral, so my son doesn't have that expense. I am interested to hear of other people's plans about what/or not they are doing to be prepared for that time

One of the things I miss most about school days is the sense of routine and shared experiences. Every morning started with familiar faces, hurried greetings, and the rush to beat the bell. Between classes, we shared jokes, snacks, and secrets that felt like the center of the world. Even the most ordinary days standing in line for lunch, group projects that turned into laughter sessions, or the quiet moments before an exam now feel golden in memory. School was more than just...

I attended segregated public schools (kinder garden to the 12th grade) in the USA. My segregated public schools' years are not pleasant. Hence, I 'rarely' reminiscent about my segregated public schools past because I do not have one positive memory! Also, during my public-school years I resided in segregated neighborhoods. Yet, I did learn one cold, hard, ugly fact (from segregation): THE UNITED STATES HAS NEVER BEEN A DEMOCRACY.

The cost of living in Australia is among the highest in the world, mainly because of expensive housing, services, and everyday essentials. Housing is the biggest factor, with rents and property prices in cities like Sydney and Melbourne ranking among the most costly globally, often reaching $600 $750 or more per week. Utilities such as electricity, gas, internet, and phone bills also add significantly to household expenses. Groceries are expensive too, with a family s...

The biggest reason why getting back together with an ex doesn't work is if your relationship patterns don't change. If you and your ex are getting back together in the same relationship, with the same mindset, the same insecurities and the same issues; then reconciliation will probably not work. What is your experience? Why does getting back with an ex never work?
Lachelle B
Never get jealous of an ex with a new partner....I was brought up being told that you always give away your used toys to the needy.

Choosing between being born in 1975 or 2025 depends on personal preferences for societal conditions, technological advancements, and life experiences. Would you rather be born in 1975 or 2025?

We are elderly and ill, and need to pay people to work for us. It seems no one wants to work anymore. We pay cash money. I don't know what is so difficult about stacking wood up for someone for winter. Every time the guy says he will show up, he is a no show. I fired him once, then giving him one more chance, we will know tomorrow if he will show up this time.
Rob G 106430
The irony is that this current generation never stops to think about who is going to do the work for them. I mean, they don't want to work becasue they just deserve to be given everything, so why would anyone else want to?!? We're all now paying for a welfare system that has created generations of slubberdegullions.

We often talk about finding ourselves, being true to ourselves, or losing ourselves in something greater. But what if the "self" isn t something we discover or protect what if it s something we invent? Some neuroscientists and philosophers suggest that the idea of a stable, unified self is a useful illusion a narrative our brain constructs to make sense of our thoughts, emotions, and memories. From childhood, we weave experiences into a story, and that story becomes our...
Thomas Canada
We are born with a self because we have a personality right from birth. That self, like other beings, evolves and develops over time through various experiences as well as our own genetic predispositions. Just as the self can expand over time, it can also deteriorate just like organic and non-organic matter. Does this mean that the self is just an illusion? Absolutely not. If a piece of metal melted due to extreme heat, would you then say that the metal never existed? Of course not. We know that the same matter can move from solid to liquid to gas or any combination of such changes. The self should be considered in the same way as it shifts from one form to another to yet another.

A fella I've been listening to lately- Keb' Mo' sings a song called It's Good to Be. It's good to be young, it's good to be old, it's good to be here, it's good to be there, it's good to be home, it's good to be you, it's good to be me. It's a nice tune... I am the wife, daughter-in-law, niece and mother of a trucker and I can say it isn t the same as it once was. Maybe it is just me, but it used to be an art form. Took a special breed to be a trucker. Drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes and jamming gears. Now a days with all the automatics out there, seems like everyone thinks they can be a trucker. Following the death of the late Pope Francis and after watching Conclave, I thought to myself what would a woman offer as a Pope? I am not Catholic but do know that they do not ordain women as priests. Maybe in the future this will happen. There was a Pope in the 13th century named Pope Joan, although this is a matter of dispute. I feel that perhaps a woman would have more empathy, although men do have this as well. Just putting it out there.

I have just been disassembling some old macs...2 gig hard drives...256 megs of RAM that sort of thing running Disc doubler and RAM doubler...and with regular maintenance and their compact and fast operating systems it was effortless to produce magazines and books, create fantastic artwork, music, most if not all of the things that anyone would ever usually need a modern computer to do. So why do we need to keep on doubling computer power? Most people do very little...
Hilary P 701184
I hav no idea of all this stupid jargon that Computer Companies and IT people have invented just to keep their jobs . It is also the best way to get rid of the old folk like me. I am happy when the internet goes down as I still know how to add 1 and 1 together and how much change I get if I use cash not card at a supermarket. The government doesnt want the old people around as they know too much from the "olden days" so put them in the aged homes where they can stagnate with no need for computers. Fortunately I am not interested in all this cloak and dagger age so long as I can open my Amazon Kindle Account and my Rewardia Account and certain easy apps I dont give a hoot for Quantum computing. I had to look it up to find out what is was and the definition is equally as ridiculous as everything to do with programming. 'Utilizes quantum mechanical phenomena like superposition and entanglement to perform computations' I never swear but "What the f....are they talking about".

Not really, so as when I had big problems recently, and end up going to the Royal Perth hospital, where after a period of waiting, and after being admitted to the Emergency Ward, in no time was admitted to a ward for treatment, will be using this Hospital as they have a whole range of Medical Professionals to attend to my problems

I do not know if you believe in mediums or not but I talk with my family through her, as my wife and brother do every 6 months or so, this is a fun and spiritual hour and a half sometimes two, my brother passed almost a year plus ago and at our local, he has his pic on the honors shelf, we buy him a Bundy shot every time we are there so he can have a drink with us, on our last visit with Liz [our medium] who asked that we buy him a scotch instead of the Bundy he wants to drink what your drinking, How she knew that I have no idea that was something that my brother and I do, another time I had bought some gorilla glue for a bottle cutting project, but I could not find it, we were talking about something else and Liz says before I forget you gorilla glue is in the black and red jar on your table so don't buy any more its expensive your mum says, when I got home there it was, I have so many stories like that, I believe your family stays with you, i constantly talk with them ,they may be gone but they have never left,i you honestly talk with them you will be surprised what you hear

Who doesn't look forward to a vacation? It's a time to explore, relax, unwind and enjoy. However, sometimes things don't go so well. From lost luggage, a hotel that claimed to be luxurious but was seedy, overcrowded everywhere, noisy, rude people, awful food, etc, can make our vacation not so nice. What was your worst vacation?
Danielle R 478487
I went to Bright,Victoria. A small village town half way up Lake Mountain. The most picturesque little town all year round back then.My ex husband and I were travelling by car ,6 hour drive. I was very pregnant with our first child. 40 degree heat in summer. We had a minor accident with the car in the first 15mins,no apparent damage,so continued. We should have turned back then. The car broke down more times than I can count. Luckily we had insurance that offered roadside assistance. By the time we arrived we had spent 12hours on the road in the heat and had the car towed the last 80kms. All accommodation was already paid for,but left us with very little money and bad sunburn. Still wasn't horrible,it's was truly beautiful. We ate ice-cream,walked around town, waded though the Oven's river( which is melted snow and freezing any time of year). We had some food we brought with us. Funny that everything we planned went wrong, but just being there was refreshing. Young love..we didn't care, had nothing,no money,no car. It didn't matter.

Yes fair call I'm probably an old fart...but in surveys there is so much that I never use at all EVER a whole array that everyone seems to be paying for....music....news information...food...sometimes I feel like I'm living on another planet...these guys give me 12 options in a survey and I can only click on three...any one else have this?
Elizabeth T 396096
Sure, Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
I am finding it increasingly difficult to find who I am on surveys with all the new genders and sexualities and then you have to repeat all of this on the next page because "sex assigned from birth" is one question and "sex you see yourself as". How about just ask if you are male or female or other because if you TRULY believe you are one of these, then why does it matter what sex you were assigned at birth? And, just for simplicity, for sexuality, just have "gay or straight or other" and they can fill in what their "other" is instead of giving all survey takers a laundry list of possibilities to plough through until we find what we identify with? Honestly, it takes longer to read these prequalification lists these days than is reasonable.
Next they will be asking us if we consider ourselves human, alien or a furry and then THIS will have its own laundry list of ridiculous possibilities.
Oh, I forgot about the alien lizard species since just saying "I am alien" may not be good enough for some people. What if I identify as a Klingon or other race from Star Trek? The possibilities for making this question a kilometre long are endless!

So many people these days are choosing either to have private funeral services, a memorial service at a later date, or no service at all. I have opted for no service I have asked my family to when they feel s right all go out for dinner together (something we enjoy doing now) and order desserts (but no coconut lol) my family get it, I don't need any fuss, those who love me are in contact with me now. What are your thoughts?
Grommie
Like most of you I arrived into the world with very little fuss, and I intend to leave the world the same way. Why put all your friends and relatives through the expense of the funeral, and in many cases the high travelling cost? Funerals are for the living, not the dead. The corny line about "paying your respects" is Undertaker-speak for making indecent money from your estate for them. Watch out for the undertaker whose other half runs a florist shop and their son is in the catering business.

Which products or services do you consider a waste of time or money, and why? My biggest pet peeves are ad blockers, as ads always seem to stay ahead of ad-blocking technology. I see no point in paying for them. I also find many subscription services unnecessary especially those designed to help you manage your other subscriptions. What's next? A subscription service to monitor your subscription manager? Sometimes, I feel like companies believe that if they create something,...

Supermarket paper bags !!😡 l hate paying 25c for just one of them and then they break by the handles or spilt on the edges ..especially as the staff are usually useless at packing them... Overpack or careless .lt's a business You should be giving us free bags to take our product home in after you've made a nice profit from us ( massive profits compared to other stores who give you a free bag!!); .. and you'll also get free advertising as we walk down the street with your logo on the bags eh?
Then any surviving bags just collect in my cupboard expecting to be bought to the shop again one day ..mm never going to happen. Too bulky ,,and annoying and will not be in a good enough state by the time they get walked home again. So it's keep any nice plastic ones I get from other businesses ( yeahhh still available!) and try my hardest to remember to take a couple in my bag always !

The answer is simple, a lot of women think guys take compliments as more than what they are intended to be. If a woman complimented a guy on his nice haircut or a pair of jeans, then it's a good chance he could take that the wrong way. What would you say? Why do women hardly compliment men?
LA
Oh, it’s simple—women have learned the hard way that complimenting a man is basically signing an unspoken contract that he now thinks he’s irresistible.
You tell a guy, "Hey, nice shirt!" and suddenly he’s convinced he’s the best-dressed man in the tri-state area. He’s standing in front of the mirror, flexing, and considering starting a fashion blog.
You say, "Wow, your cologne smells great!" and now he thinks you’re secretly in love with him and starts making up your wedding hashtag.
Meanwhile, women get compliments all the time and just say, "Thanks!" and move on with their lives. A girl could hear "Your eyeliner is flawless!" and just be like, "Yeah, I spent 45 minutes on it, I know." But if a guy hears "Nice haircut!" he's suddenly pricing out motorcycles and sunglasses.
So, ladies have just learned to keep it to themselves. It’s a survival tactic. Compliment at your own risk—because next thing you know, Chad from accounting is naming your future children.

While there's no strict timeline, many recommend waiting at least 6 months to a year of dating before cohabitating. This allows time to understand each other's habits, values, and compatibility. What would you say? How early is too early to move in together?
Mooi
Seriously I am finding some of these discussions so boring. Use your common sense and make your own decisions.
Feb 25, 25

I've noticed that the lonely heart/chat line/dating service adverts have moved from using highly unlikely pictures of women who could (and probably do) work as models...and into purely digital models....are these just bait...or are they trying to set you up with digital girlfriends?....how weird are these sorts of services going to get?...what do you think?
LA
Oh, it's only going to get weirder. Today, it's digital models; tomorrow, it'll be AI girlfriends who text you good morning and remind you to drink water. By next year, they'll come with a virtual mother-in-law who sends passive-aggressive notifications about your life choices.
And let's be real—if the bots ever get self-awareness, they'll start ghosting people just like humans do. "Sorry, Dave, I just don't feel a connection. Also, my algorithm says you're 87% likely to leave dishes in the sink, and I deserve better."

If you keep your eggs in the carton in the fridge and turn them over every week, they won't go off. While they sit a bubble forms in the top of the egg and this is when they go bad. A call came in and said a bench warrant had been issued for my husband's arrest and gave the name of an officer at the local police dept. I called them on my phone, they said they had an officer by that name, but he was assigned as a school crossing guard. My husband kept them on the phone and drove to the police dept. He handed the phone to an officer, and the scammer hung up. I don't think he has called again.

Married people also have built-in social and emotional support for each other, are less likely to participate in risky behaviours (such as problem drinking) and have better economic conditions compared to single people. However, it is important to note that not all romantic relationships are satisfying. What are your thoughts? Is it better to be single or married?

It's never too late to start, but you should focus on finding your purpose and life task that is relevant to a certain job. Perhaps you're really good with numbers and need to be an Accountant or Financial advisor. Or you have a lot of empathy and love helping people, and perhaps should become a Therapist. What would your advice? Is it OK to start life at 40?
Jack M 393074
No, I restarted life at age 35 and now I am 75 years young and have been forced in 2008 at age 59 into an early retirement. I do online surveys to augment my stipends of SS and pension each month (Less than $1700 of which rent is $700).

I love making things for people at Christmas. I spend a lot of time and sometimes money doing the right thing for the right person. Some people don't like getting homemade things as they think they are cheap. Sometimes it costs more to make something than buy it. Which do you prefer?

I think Christmas has become too comercialised it a religious Celebration
PLease try to keep it that way or the meaning will be lost

Did you ever give or receive a compliment and realise it's also an insult? What are some you've heard? Why can't we just give each other a compliment without ruining it. Here are a few common ones: You look good for your age. You're just my type, I prefer someone with meat on their bones. You're pretty smart for a woman. You're a good cook for a man. Or perhaps these are insults that can also be compliments! How do you respond? Do you just take it as a...

I’m of the opinion now at my stage of life where I only respond to what I feel is fair and good for me, otherwise I just don’t respond, as noted filter! And also important to have a sense of humour, don’t take life to seriously…

How long do you go to putting effort in a friendship before giving up? I have a group of friends who never seem to have time for me but will always make time for each other. Is that just a hint that I'm not even wanted?
Angie
You need to ditch that friend group! Surround yourself with positive, caring, giving, compassionate and kind people who will embrace and appreciate you

The Bank of Mum and Dad is now utilised by 2 in 5 first home buyers in Australia, making it one of the largest lenders with an annual lending amount of around $92 billion and an average loan of approximately $92,000 per transaction. What does it mean to the rest of us? Is the bank of Mum and Dad creating a new class system?
Simone S 316632
Not really. Bank of Mum and Dad has always existed. I think the expectation is what has changed. I know my generation would only ask our parents for a loan if we were really in dire straits...and then pay it back. Now, I think there's generations of children who expect their parents to help and actually gift them the money.

When you saw film footage of the floods in Florida...you might have been very surprised to see houses on fire in the middle of all that water... Hurricane Helene created a storm surge that flooded some electric vehicles, causing them to catch fire and, in some cases, ignite homes....the current advice is that you do own an EV and a hurricane is coming DO NOT park it in the garage or ANYWHERE near buildings...try and park in on higher ground (good luck with...
SueS
EV's a big risk. Also, child labour used to produce lithium for batteries. Batteries as far as I know not recyclable. Pollution still created by the manufacture of these vehicles. What is the point?

I would love to be able to create a topic of compliments and inspiration. The very first person to comment would state something they're grateful for, then the next person to comment would compliment or inspire the person above them, and so on. The only rule. Make it positive or inspiring for the person above you. The reason I would love to do this is because I believe there's a lot of people out there, myself included, in this world that may feel lonely, sad, or just lost ...

If everyone on this earth lived by the guidelines written for our benefit in God's inspired word, the Bible, there would be no wars, no poverty, no abuse, no loneliness, none of the things we see in the world today. Please search for answers in the Bible to whatever problems you are having because the answer is there. You just have to search for it! Please read 2 Timothy 3:14-17. ;-D

You now have to check yourself in at the airport...check yourself out at the Hardware store...supermarkets are trying it too...the shops think that they are now online stores and cut back on stock in their physical locations...the Banks are working away to close all their branches and make us all cashless...technology is fantastic, but it is being used by big business to make their lives easy and profitable...the only time a consumer matters is when they are not buying...
Tavi
When I visit the shops (KMart or Coles) I always go the counter where a Team Member can serve me...just trying to keep someone's job!!

I know, I know,...we have all the drama...its going to be MUCH worse than the Spanish Flu...isn't it?...America has rallied..the rest of us are lucky....My relatives overseas have all survived...we are going through a MASSIVE part of history...this is a community...talk to us about you are coping
Imperia S
I am rather a bit of a panic merchant, so I am always on edge, and with all that is going on in the world, I thank my lucky stars that I am or rather seem to be coping, however this latest argument between Isreal, and who ever plays on mind as I don't want our kids to be part of any wars

My best friend of 28yrs committed suicide on June 6, 2024. I ve been feeling like this life is all a dream. My heart aches and I ve lost my appetite. I miss her, and she never mentioned she was hurting or had so many problems that she had to take her own life. Has anyone ever gone through this before and how did you handle it. It s hard for me because I once upon a time I tried it twice, and she didn t let me. She was always there for me.

I don't think the loss of your friend should be any different than losing a family member. My daughter died in the hospital while going through a routine operation. I too felt empty, couldn't eat, found no pleasure in any activity and I miss her tremendously.
From what I understand suicide comes when the person has lost all hope.People who do it don't try. They just decide when and then do it. It may sound cruel, but deep down I don't feel that you were serious when you "tried." It seems that you were just looking to confirm that somebody loved you.
I came close to doing it once. I had lost all hope about everything. I got professional help, and some pretty good medications from a liscensed physician and I hardly ever go there again. Yes, occasionally I get feeling very low, but that's pretty much because I suffer from profound depression, PTSD, and I'm Bi-polar. Nothing is perfect and I'm not sure if I can ever be 'cured' but I just keep on carrying on and greet each day as an opportunity in stead of a challenge. Good Luck!

For me, they shape our opinions, attitudes, and beliefs about the world around us. The media can also influence how we perceive ourselves and others by providing information that reinforces certain stereotypes or exaggerated images of people from different backgrounds. What are your thoughts? Does news affect our daily lives?
Dennis 1500002
Well, here in the USA our news revolves around the election later this year in which our choices seem to be an invalid, a felon, and a guy who says a worm ate part of his brain, so yes, this is affecting me and not in a good way. You guys have room for me down under ?

This was all over the NEWS recently... According to a Dynata Survey, the majority of young people said they would rather flee their COUNTRY than FIGHT for it. Those under 35s ... and they were also ashamed of their COUNTRY for --- whatever reason? This is certainly disturbing news! Your thoughts?
allin3/24
i spent 7 years in the infantry in the '60s, where i learned that fighting for country was the farthest thing from the truth, we were fighting for the folks that built planes, tanks, guns, uniforms, ammo etc, to give them exorbitant profits, Viet Nam, where we learned how to profit from war at the expense of our young folks, not all, just the ones their daddy couldn't pay his way out of it
