Hi APB I live in a Ryman Retirement Village called Keith Park in Hobsonville in Auckland. We have a 3 bed apartment, two bathrooms, and a patio, total 112sq meters and we have two car parks. Our village will not be finished for at least another 12 months, We are ground floor for our two cats who also enjoy living here. There is nothing beige here, the building look bright and modern. Google us to see. We have so many activites Ryman have employed a full time person to organize them. We play bingo on Monday nights. Nothing depressing here it is all go go go. Nothing is too much bother for the staff they even water our patio garden when we are away. It is way better than some hotels we have stayed in. With their security there is little chance of a break in or your car being stolen. That gives you cheaper insurance, all in all its a WINWIN situation.

I have been having unusual dreams and de ja vu since I was very small. The most disturbing was a reoccurring dream of a close friend going away,for about 3 months every night this included other people and places they went . A couple of days before I saw a horrific car accident but was constantly pushed back from the flashing lights and crash scene.. I wouldn't have to adapt, as I do not rely on the internet, yes I use it on occasion, but I still have the ability to use a land line to contact friends and also to hop in the car and visit and I love reading and playing games with the grand kids and great grand kids, and life would be more relaxing when you didn't have to worry about scams and AI, also I very rarely shop on line, love going into department stores, trying on clothes and getting the correct size without having to pack up and return and wait weeks for hopefully the correct size.

It's difficult to give you any advice, as I don't know your skills, experience or any training you may have had or what industry you are looking to build your business in. As for me, I have been self-employed since the mid 1980's and started every business I had without any capital to draw from. One of my most successful businesses is one I started during a recession when people were losing their jobs and companies where closing down. My advice is to start small and simple, then build on that as opportunities arise. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty, be honest, be reliable and give your customers the quality work that they will be happy to pay for. I up-sized eighteen years ago when I stopped full time work. I went from a nice two bedroom unit in Sydney to a spacious, open living space with an upstairs (master bedroom and ensuite, living area and deck) and downstairs (two bedrooms, bathroom, laundry, kitchen and large dining and living area. Deck at front of house, side of house wrapping around to back of house all with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. (3 min walk to beach ion central Qld coast). Whenever I walk into a "normal" house now it always seems pokey and small. I would not like living in a small space again.

Solar panels are somewhat of a con trick. It costs a fortune to get them installed, then you need an expensive battery to store the power for when there is no sun. You need to keep the panels clean for best efficiency (difficult since they're usually on the roof), even then the panels and the battery *will* wear out and need replacing. Even worse, they claim it is "green" energy, yet making and disposing of the panels and batteries is hideously polluting. Best not to bother and just stick with regular mains supply. If you can (not possible in New Zealand any longer \ud83d\ude41), use a government owned supplier so you aren't being charged excessive amounts simply to fill the greedy pockets of the electricity company's management and shareholders.

People had manners, they were polite and respected each other, there was no road rage and you hardly ever heard of domestic violence. you could go to bed and leave your windows open, and even your front door, most people were friendly, knew their neighbours and cared about them and even looked out for them. We didn't have air-conditioning, coloured TV, a self parking car or microwave and we certainly didn't have the internet, ATM's, Facebook or Tic tok, but yes things were much better. More and more now I hear people say they preferred things when they were younger.

Is this your first baby or do you have others you need somebody to help with the care of them? Having visitors is tiring so you may need to set a time limit for everybody, unless maybe they offer to help with various household chores and you may be able to grab some rest while baby is asleep. I'm sure things like doing the washing would be helpful even better if you can sort it to the point of which room it goes in.............I would be grateful for casual help if it is a c-section as there is a lot of things you are not supposed to do......... Nope! It's a massive disaster waiting to happen (as Russia found out, Japan nearly found out). When I trained as an EN (Enrolled Nurse) in the early 1990's I was paid for the entire year, whether it was a study day or a working on the ward day. As a newly divorced mother with 3 young children I could not have done it if I had to pay for it instead of being paid. Having hands on training is best for good patient care. Years later so many times young RN's would come onto the ward doing a 'placement' and they would complain about having to do some basic nursing task, they would say that they are supposed to be giving medications and taking blood for tests not making beds and emptying bed pans. They are just in the job for the money and the 'prestige'.

No tablets in our house. I don't see a use for them as we have phones and laptops that do everything needed. Our kids get their first laptop when they start High School (about 12yrs of age) and they get their first mobile phone when they turn 16 years old. We have parental controls on their school laptops and monitor their phones until they turn 18. It is far to easy to get addicted to technology and cyberbullying is so very real so limiting social media and some games can keep our kids safe.

From what I have heard on several podcasts, nothing is private anymore! It is a scary fact, and what is even more disturbing is the fact that people keep putting themselves in danger. Cell phones are a must when they don't need to be! Why don't people care? We lived without them just fine for centuries!!! Yes, they are convenient, but at what price? We accept any technology that is thrown at us, and we have no idea what the ramifications could be because we have no idea how they work! Those that do are speaking out, but no one is listening. Even when your devices are turned off, you are at threat! Where is this heading? There isn't much that the average person has to hide, so why track us? I think some of it is for merchandising and to monitor where we go and what places we frequent, but what about the government? I seem to have nothing they would be interested in so what do they want from us? That fact is scary! I hate cell phones because they have ruined our society. We can't even visit people without texting others while you are with them. To me, that is rude. If you want to talk and/or text to other people don't do it while you are spending time with me when I don't see you that often! Often times, people don't even hear what I say because they are on social media while they're here! Let's think about how unimportant that makes other people feel! Are those texts that important? I use a cell phone only because I travel alone and no one knows where I am. If I had an emergency, it could save my life. It isn't even turned on unless I need it! Mostly depends on genes and diet as to what size your body is to be. Some can be well overweight with no health issues others just have health issue no matter their body size. There is no time limit on grief. It takes as long as it takes. My mother died in 2014 and, while most of the time I'm fine, there are still moments when I'll just suddenly burst into tears. Mum lost twins seven years before I was born, yet she still got quiet, and a little down, when it would of been their birthday. I still see things when I'm in a store and think "Ooh, mum would love that", and then I remember. Grief is a wound. It may scab over, even scar lightly, but it never fully heals. Sometimes it feels like it's forever since she died, other moments, it's like it was yesterday. I find the run up to Mother's Day to be hard (not the day itself). All the advertising "Remember Mum this Mother's Day", I just want them to shut up. And the run up to Christmas... Both our birthdays are at the beginning of December (3 days apart), so that's hard. My uncle died 2 weeks ago, and his birthday is 2 days after Christmas, so this year is going to be hard. My thoughts go out to all who are grieving.

I try to do a pre check of any place i am going with hubby. He drives a power chair-he only has minimal use of thumb and forefinger in left hand so has a joystick control. But boy does he plough his way through a shop and if something is in the way the chair will get through...he doesn't care if his presence is made known. I hate scenes so run ahead making way. Can be v stressful. Some shops are so cluttered and aisles tiny..it sucks and makes me so mad. Esp shops such as 2$ shops- where we would like to go since we no longer have money- but they are terrible for w/chairs and walkers etc. Have complained to Mall but they said it was the shop owners responsibility. Sigh. We don't have an issue with seats as hubby has his w/chair at least. And if a seat is in the way at a cafe table he will nudge it out of the way with his w/chair. Going out is quite nerve-wracking. We never go into our previously loved 2nd hand shops- too cramped and crowded- and he drove out once with a clothesrack accidentally attached to the back of his headrest..sounds funny now but not at the time. Also he rammed into a giftcard carousel on purpose after the shop owner (another 2$ shop) told him off for accidentally knocking something in the over crowded store. He backed up his chair like a bull and started driving towards it..i knew he couldn't be stopped and i hid around the corner.

I have become more "Aussie" aware when purchasing food etc. I make a point of always buying Australian produce as I really feel that we have to support our local farmers, producers, retailers etc. I appreciate that this comes at a price is regard to cost and if you are a family with kids this might not always be possible. Buying Australian supports Australia and provides jobs, opportunities and wealth to Australians. The changing economic climate is putting strain on the household budget but hopefully early next year things will start to settle down with the economy. My spending habits have only changed in that UI am even more determined to support Australian businesses where I can.

Yes it has been another scare campaign with being out in the sun. I have very fair skin and turn into a lobster in half an hour.So I avoid the sun, go out early morning or late afternoon. I won't use sun screen, it's just another chemical. I do take vitamin D supplements on a daily basis. I've stopped listen to the news, it's just a bunch of articles that are geared to make people panic. I'm sick of being told how to live, what to eat, when to fart...to hell with it all.

What ever we do will not stop global warming! The earth is on an orbit in our solar system and has so far done 1% of this orbit which means our lifestyle is going to continue to change or die out as our universe expands and the planets move further away from each other. Governments wont tell their populations this as there would be worldwide panic. Our plants and animal life is dying out and we cannot stop it.Everyone conveniently forgets that we have had previous ice ages and the magnetic poles have also changed places throughout time. So for those who believe they can stop global warming go ahead and do your thing but it wont matter at all in the long term.

Just sick of life is not fair, Kaz. In many cases it is severe mental illness. Does a person suffering from severe depression for decades not have the right to die? In the recent case, the Australian man was 103 years old. He was not in good health. I feel strongly about this as I worked for a quadriplegic, named Jo Ann Dolan, when I was younger. She fought for the right to die and an article appeared in "The Age". We have no right to interfere. I am sick and tired and people saying "people will kill their family for money". Stop hiding behind this BS as some people face suffering that we would not allow on a dog. They have the right to die and it is not your or my business.

Quite a few years ago now, i noticed a neighbour's papers were still on the front lawn. He was an avid better, ex-jockey who loved to follow the horses and have a flutter. He never missed collecting his paper. We notified the police who found him dead in his chair with the TV still on. We hope he had a bet on a long shot and had won a large amount. We hoped he'd had a heart attack and died without pain due to the shock of winning. (We don't actually know how he died though.) As for the current world situation.I have barely left the house for months now. There are too many self centered, selfish people living around here so going for walks in the neighbourhood or park does not leave me feeling safe due to other's behaviour. I do not have skype nor zoom. I chat to friends most days by text/sms or online messenger services. I have not had pets for over 20 years now and find that in itself very lonely. I think it is important to stay in contact with neighbours, especially those who may not have access to family/friends or those who tend to not be very social.Even a little note in the letter box or a little posy of flowers from your garden left on their doorstep could brighten their day and make them feel not so lonely.

Sadly since discipline was ruled a no-no by the politically correct part of society children and youths seem to do what they like, when they like, to whoever they like. Townsville has an enormous youth crime problem and I am sure it is because the kids have no concerns that they will be punished even for serious crimes.

Physically, things are not wonderful. The immobility and pain of arthritis must be felt to be believed. However, mentally, I feel so wise and grounded: an unerring sense of what matters more, what matters less and what matters not at all. Emotionally, I Iike being free of the stresses of the workplace, the tyranny of the power structure and its expectations. My time is largely my own and I revel in the liberty of it all. I have not been this relaxed and happy in decades!

Yes, a little bit. The pension is enough to survive on but not much else. I think society does not properly respect what a lifetime is, nor does it respect the value of the volunteer work that many of the retirees do.

We need policies that put dollars into the pockets of people who cannot afford to buy their own home, so they have the money to do so. That way there would be little need for rentals, or for social housing either. My suggestion is to pay everyone a basic living wage (not means tested).

personally i think its a waste of time,i read a coulpe of weeks ago our PM said once international borders are down when we are all vaccinated,and all travellers coming are vaccinated to expect 1000 cases per week,we have never had 1000 cases per week before,so does this vaccine work or not? apparantly it only lessons the symptoms if you do get it,allegedly

We've had pandemics before.....Spanish flu, the Plague, etc. It's social media that's making people crazy...... Have a camera aimed your way and all of a sudden your dumb idea or theory goes viral. Shut down social media and I think you'll shut down the crazies, the conspiracists and all those who have nothing better to do. Hell you never know, they might end up being...dare I say....a productive and contributing member of society or at least to their family.

If you have to eat a special needs diet they can't legally stop you taking food in. I haven't been to a cinema for 34 + years. They had Mickey Mouse on first because it was after early dinner and baby only crawling literally laughed all the way through it.

I have always enjoyed poetry and in Australia we have some beauties. The Man From Snowy River is a classic but there are others I'm fond of. Two poems I don't like are number 1, The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, and number 2, The Kon-Tinki Expedition. I was enthralled with Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Elliot so got quite a thrill when I found they had all been put to the music of Cats the musical. Indeed, life would be dull without poems.

Constantly switching energy, internet, phone, banking, etc. providers is really just a waste of time and effort. Yes, you might "save $100" today (or you might even save more when you tell your current provider you're thinking of switching), but the reality is that they all have basically the same prices, so you probably don't save anything in the long run - the new provider will simply put the price up when the marketing scheme period ends. You may even lose money because the new provider than charges more than your old one did. Not to mention the very real possibility that you won't have any service at all when the old provider disconnects you and the new one doesn't reconnect you, while they each point the blame at the other. Plus, $100 is really only just under $2 per week over a year's contract, so again it's not worth the time and effort. You can probably save more than that by simply turning off devices you're not using (e.g. turn off the TV rather than leaving it in standby mode).

Many drivers are driving on foreign licences from countries where the roads rules are different to ours. People in NSW are allowed to take their test in a language other than English. When I made a complaint about it I was told road signs are the same worldwide so it makes no difference. I disagree, the word DETOUR comes in English only, so if you can't read English you won't know what it means.

never tried an audiobook. Joined my local library at 5 years old and am still a member (of a different one) and avid reader at 69. Books are best and always will be imho
